I found . . . now my pediatrician told me to do this so don't think I'm gross . . . but I could bit them off really easy. I probably filed them more than anything though. I volunteer in a healthcare setting and I had small scissors in my hand that were used on an HIV infected individual. Those scissors grazed my middle finger. I didn't think much of it because there was no hole in my gloves or apparent blood but todayI checked my finger and noticed a super small (1mm) superficial scab on my finger. Is this something I should be worried about as much as I am right now?
Do you think that if someone got their hair cut that day and got blood on the scissors, or the barber cut his finger on the scissors right now ; then i got cut by them that there is any way i could get HIV's if the person that was cut was HIV positive?
I should point out that the barber is openly gay. I don't mean this in any derogatory way, but this does add to my concern.
She used the same pair of scissors to do my nails, but before starting to work on my nails she sprayed the scissors with some liquid that I supposed it was some kind of desinfectant . The client before me didnt bled.

I certainly agree with the others. It is also (hopefully) possible that she has recently discovered scissors and is using them on everything. Lock up the scissors. Girls getting into makeup is not unusual. They like to copy mommy.
And an immediate timeout at this age is appropriate. After her timeout is over (6 min) explain why. In the book, "SOS Help for Parents," by Lynn Clark you can find a great explanation of using the timeout system.
t usually cut her fingernails with scissors, too hard to maneuver unless they are those tiny little ones and why in the world would your mom want to cut out a label with tiny scissors? Oh well, not for me to judge.
In any event, having hepc, your sister should not leave her personal scissors where others can access them.

The vast majority of salons take health and safety very seriously, and use sterilisers. It is fair to say however, that not all hairdressers and barbers are aware of the risks, however small.
Using hairdressers and barbers while travelling is not without its' risks. There is evidence that razors, clippers and other associated equipment that are not effectively cleaned are linked to higher rates of infection.

I am happy that you have not had any reactions after a year, and I hope that my daughter will be the same. I am more aware that you have to take your and your families health in your own hands and research everything before allowing them to inject them/you with something that has not had a lot of studying. I will be more careful in the future. Thanks again for commenting.
