Avatar n tn Medicines will alleviate some of the symptoms and pain but in in most case you have to take them for the rest of your life with the added problem of side effects (go to any medication you have in your cabinet and you will find a list of possible side effects) just as with natural medicine you may have some side effect but they will not work instantly as start from building your body up to help repair itself with some support for the immediate problem so please do not be put off pursuing natural
Avatar m tn Although one of our herbs was marketed with herbs from other sources it contained twenty times the amount of medicine. So an herb ain't necessarily an herb. There are no federal (U.S.) standards to compare and contrast herbs. Then we thought about concentrating the medicinal....whoa nelly...butt on with the FDA and what are called "good manufacturing practices" and "manufacturing license" and "clinical trials".
Avatar n tn I am on special medication for thyroid, but have discovered that Kelp is recommended for thyroid as it nourishes and repairs the thyroid which controls autonomic nervous system. Recommended doseage is 10-15 tablets and then 1-2 tabs daily when stabilized. I'm also taking other herbs (cayenne, hawthorn, valerian, lecithin, ginger) for a healthy heart and arteries.
Avatar f tn Having acupuncture treatments will help to decrease the symptoms that are related to the disorder and will allow the patient to feel less stressed and upset over the condition.Acupuncture seeks to release energy in the body that is blocked. It also seeks to correct the imbalance of hormones. When it comes to hypothyroidism, the acupuncturist will need to concentrate on the kidney area in order to bring about a reduction in the symptoms. Can you "cure" hypothyroidism with acupuncture?
Avatar f tn Also know that most side effects of using herbs and drugs at the same time are often theoretical, as there is little actual research done following people who use them this way -- usually it's based on theories of why the herb works which may be correct and may be incorrect.
Avatar n tn For those who are tense and anxious, and hyper alert, ashwagandha can be taken during the day, for others, it is best taken in the evening. Most herbs are better absorbed on an empty stomach. There are no dietary restrictions with its use. Have there been reviews to see which ashwagandha supplement is best? Not that I am aware of.
499534 tn?1328704178 ) I am going to keep professing the positive, even though it seems impossible. I could have already afforded it with all the money I have spent in 4 yrs time going to natoropaths....chinese md with acupuncture as well....herbs....you name it, I have tried it. Is there a website for the woman to woman? Let me know.
Avatar f tn You can either make a tea with sitz bath herbs or essential oils and water (lavender, geranium, frankincense) to promote healing. Pour the mixture on your pad and roll them back up and freeze them. Earth mama angel baby Mama Bottom Balm is the stuff!!! They also make a spray. It feels cooling on those stitches. Mix a few drops of lavendar oil into your Peri bottle and squeeze it on when you go to the bathroom.
Avatar m tn t adjusted properly. Either way, if the thyroid is the source of the problem, that means the areas you should be going after are the thyroid and the adrenals. If you want to do this in a natural way, perhaps it's time to enlist a naturopath or practitioner of integrated medicine.
Avatar m tn I bad with doctors, but one thing to stress is along the lines of, this has been bothering me for a while, isn't going away, and I'm not going away either, so you have to actually investigate not just send me home and hope I don't come back, because I'll just be back next week if you do that.
Avatar f tn You certainly have a number of the classic symptoms for hypo t, and your FT4 was on the very low end of the range. I would stop taking any more of the herbs and go back and ask that FT 3 also be tested (free T3), because it is 4 times as potent as FT4 and largely regulates metabolism. Doctors do not usually check FT3 because they assume that if T4 is okay, then T3 will also be okay. That is not always the case, plus your FT4 is on the very low end of its range already.
Avatar f tn But because of the extreme mildness of her case and the concern over protecting her kidneys, we figured Chinese herbs were the best option for now, at least until the hyper-t worsens enough that methimazole treatment would no longer be too powerful. Just wondering if anyone else has done this, and what kind of results you had. I'm hoping to see a mild reduction in her T4 level. She's at 3.2, and should be around 2.5, so we're looking at a very slight reduction.
Avatar m tn Are you really talking about some kind of herbs, or are you talking about natural desiccated thyroid hormone?
Avatar n tn Me, my mother and the doctor were in the room, he came in with a little vial, gave it to me and said "drink as much as you want, you can drink the whole thing of half or whatever you want". The vial was very small, I didn't intend to drink the whole thing but it was empty before I knew it. It destroyed my whole thyroid, now I'm taking synthroid pills .175 mg a day.But yes he let me decide at the ripe, mature age of 13!
948617 tn?1245910113 $120/month and not covered by insurance. I ended up in the ER 2 weeks after the herbs ran out. The prescriptions given to me by the ER Dr. were $5 and $7 per month. I'm now hypo after RAI. I'm doing pretty well on 75 levothyroixin, but still didn't feel like myself. So I added 1 kelp supplement per day. It is like someone turned the lights on! My energy, ambition, and creativity have returned. Maybe it is from adding kelp or maybe I would have gotten better without it.
Avatar m tn Hibiscus tea is pretty harmless, mostly used for its nutrients and taste, not so much for medicinal purposes. Tea is also not very potent, not as potent as a tincture, and less potent by far than a standardized extract. Is good for colds and coughs, but again, mostly for flavor and calming. Any problems that a herb would have would come with overuse or constant use, not just one occasion, unless, of course, you're drinking toadstools.
Avatar f tn I would take a good, food-grade multi-vitamin and add to it extra "B" vitamins. I would also take the herb, "Ginseng" this is one of the herbs that help strengthen the adrenal glands, thus, giving you more energy.
Avatar n tn I was told that I was borderline Hypothroid, about 4 months ago and they wanted me to do another test. I got another test done after i waited 4 months and this was the test results. The TSH w reflex was 1.32. Range was MIU/L. The test I took four months ago was 3.07. Is this better or worse? I also took the THYROID PEROXIDASE AB test, the most recent test result was <10, with a range of <35-IU/mL. What does this mean? Am I hypothroid or not? Please Help. Confused patient.
Avatar f tn I have learned that these herbs really help me the tumors in my lungs disappeared. Can anyone else share a natural healing herb and support.
1075109 tn?1281835691 I met a great doctor a few years ago, he believed very much in the thyroid so I do agree with the previous comment, a low dose thyroid medication even if your blood work comes back normal will help dramatically with your pain and fm symptoms. I've been on it for years. But the other critical part is the immune system. I take a chines herb, Astragalus. It's been used for centuries in Chinese medicine.
Avatar n tn Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a P.E.T. Scan, a cancerous tumor was found on my thyroid. I am scheduled for 1 year Full Body Thyroid Scan. During the time I'm off my synthyroid, can I take green tea with hoodia supplements in order to maybe not get so tired.
Avatar f tn you want to keep the pin in as long as the toe appears to be healing (4-6 weeks). when you remove bone, the void has to fill with tissue. if you don't hold the toe straight with a pin, the tissue can fill in and the toe heal in a crooked position.
Avatar m tn I am slowly starting what she has prescribed, but all this started before I ever started herbs with her. She is also not against continuing an antibiotic. I have read where Dr. Burrascano said some strains of bacteria can become resistant to bicillin. If that happens, he wrote, Unasyn (ampicillin and sulbactam) can be used. I had a pic line last fall and ended up with fevers over 106 degress several nights. No more pic lines.
5093508 tn?1390543931 Thanks for replying. I will definitely give it a go. I had tried it many years ago, and my arthritis wasn't even as bad as it is now. It was lovely while laying there during the treatment, but didn't make much difference over all. I had about 10 treatments, but stopped. I wasn't taking the herbs back then either, so maybe the combination this time, will do the trick, or at least give me some relief from this chronic pain.
