Avatar f tn My surgeon looked at it and said he was hesitant to do anything to it because with GM we don't heal very well. He thinks that poking around will just make it worse. Yes, my skin has started to peel. It was weird, it started to ooze some puss but now has stopped and it looks even worse so I'm afraid the bad part is yet to come. I just don't have a very high tolerance for pain and am petrified of having to have it packed.
Avatar n tn Your mother requires evaluation by a wound-care specialist, commonly associated with diabetic clinics. As soon as possible. As of yesterday. Leg wounds that won't heal are common in diabetics (as well as the elderly with compromised micro-circulation) and require a lot of professional attention. The avergae GP is above his pay grade in treating these. There are various approaches, the most recent and (non-approved) is the use of a nicotine patch or smoking a cigarette or two a day.
Avatar m tn You can have MRSA without having a fever. You should definitely get it checked by your doctor, though, since its not going away. Even if it's not MRSA, it could be something else that needs an antibiotic to heal.
Avatar f tn Hmmm... that's interesting! I did have a bunch of blister like sores on the inside of my bottom lip a few months ago and yes I was low at the time. (dropped because of right TT) I used to get them more often years ago but I most likely wasn't regulated or even DX with thyroid issues at the time. I wondered why I got them again after so many years of not having them. Maybe it is connected.
Avatar f tn I had GM in 2009 and 2010, was treated with prednisone and methotrexate for a year which started my recovery and I finished off the cure by wearing poultices made with calcium bentonite clay. I still get mastitis-like lumps under both the areola of the diseased breast as well as of the well breast. They are slightly swollen and tender.
Avatar f tn I use both hands. One hand lifts the gauze with the poultice the other is lifting up the bottom of the jogging bra. I squish the poultice on the part of the breast that is diseased, press down slightly. Then I hold the whole gauze/poultice thing against the breast while I carefully replace the jogging bra around it. If it is a snug bra, it will hold the entire thing in place. Some lumps in the clay will remain.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 31 year old mother of two in a monogamous relationship with my husband of 7 years. I am in excellent health (as far as I know) and am having a problem with an ingrown hair. About a week ago, I noticed an ingrown hair along my right groin area, just outside of my labia where my underwear rests. I plucked the infected hair, ignored it and assumed that it would heal, it was not painful or large at the time.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I did not panic. I made a poultice out of clay and secured it with the huge size bandaid. I wore clay for about six days, changing the poultice about twice a day and the cysts disappeared. During that time I got another cyst between my diseased breast and the armpit. It was a lot smaller. I did the same thing with a lump of clay and a bandaid and three days later it was gone. The clay I was talking about is calcium bentonite clay (cheap and effective).
Avatar f tn t gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.

Avatar m tn So it turns out that using a comfrey poultice on my abdomen for a muscular strain in 2018 messed with my right abdomen and abdominal development structurally and internally. Avatar n tn I find that a cabbage leaf poultice is comforting. A washed inner leaf, heated in water, or with an iron, placed over the area. If you are not allergic to cabbage. Leaving the cabbage leaf on until it cools, and if you have no skin-reaction to it. I tend to repeat the process three times, before deciding that I've had enough of the cabbage aroma, or I get hungry for a reuben.

Avatar n tn It's scary when unexpected unexplained things start happening with our bodies. However, take a breath and have faith - your body has a lot of automatic protective processes and your brain will take care of anything else. It sounds like a very common infection known as thrush. It is caused by an imbalance of bacteria normally present in your genitals. There are medical creams you could get for it, but there is an old home remedy that always works - a yogurt poultice.
Avatar m tn ps -- I was recommended Virgin Coconut Oil from the health-food store, for my dog with itchy skin. (I believe I was supposed to feed it to her.) The jar I got had solidified, and I needed to heat little amounts of it briefly to bring it back to an oil form. That stuff was so tremendously emollient that I've been tempted to try making a little poultice for my feet with it. I'll bet it would feel great.
Avatar n tn I have put on a bread poultice rapped it round my finger but I cannot stand it- It is so gross and disgusting. I did not want to take it off for saftey but I thought I could see if I could take it off and be able to do something quickly instead that does not require me to be horrified. I would prefer a quick answer and I have had it on since about 1PM today, and would like a responce bettween about 5 and 8 hours after I put it on (After 6 and before 9) if I could.

1880878 tn?1345398859 I remember when my dad had shingles, it wore him out. He would come home and lay on the carpeted floor and apply a poultice of some sort to the area. Seems like recovery energy wise took some time.
745396 tn?1233083960 Hello. I was diagnosed with Graves in July of 08. Had RAI done the same month. Officially turned hypo in Ocotber 08--started on Levothroid. Am still on Levothroid 88mcg. Last week I went to get my labs done because I was having hyper symptoms (anxiety, sore legs and arms, 2 bouts with a rapid heart beat--one in the grocery store, the other at home, become out of breath when standing for long periods) The labs came back as me still being hypo. TSH was 6.8 and Free T4 was 1.5.
