Avatar f tn A few days after my visit I noticed two more tiny lumps developed on the side of my neck, and they grew quickly (also a size of a Nickle/quarter). My energy decreased, I started getting sharp pains on the side of my head/temple and very often the lumps would swell up very big where it would make the side of my face puff out, but then would release after a few hours. Avatar n tn My husband does have periods of tinnitus, and a feeling that his head is full and a swishing sound that occurs occasionally. We did notice yesterday that while I was backing out of a parking space and he was checking to see if the traffic was clear....his head was turned to the right....he then had a severe dizzy episode and head pain.
Avatar m tn This stiffness has now spread to my left arm and I have also had shooting pains down my back from my neck and severe headaches, which is bluring the vision in my left eye. I have been to the doctor who have given me numerous tests (blood, blood sugar, urine, blood sugar and a doppler) and concluded that the only abnormality was slightly low magnesium levels (165) apart from that everything was normal. What should be my next route of action?

Avatar n tn No sign of primary tumor in spinal cord, nor a sign of enlarged spinal cord either. Possiblities of tranverse myelitis and demylination without known etiology was noted. Looking back I have had some other unusal findings that may or may not be related , but hopefully may be a piece to the puzzle. September had BP of 95/56 (usually normal for me), but HR of 45 and short P wave in EKG and abnormal ST wave. Had stress test, and echo showing normal results.
Avatar f tn Level II just refers to the area on the neck where the lymph nodes are and potentially reactive just means that they are possibly enlarged due to an infection. Your lymph nodes can swell up in your neck when you're body is fighting off an infection. At my hospital we don't consider 1cm as an enlarged lymph node, but some doctors consider anything over 0.5cm as enlarged. It also depends how the node looked visually as well.
Avatar m tn She was exposed to radiation and, like her family members, is at significantly increased risk for cancer, especially thyroid malignancies. Other factors from the history and physical that suggest a malignant etiology include: a nodule > 2 cm or increasing in size, dysphagia, hoarseness, regional lymphadenopathy, a fixation to the surrounding tissues, male sex, age less than 40, and family history.

769119 tn?1235025955 Is it a particular exercise like shoulder or bench presses that cause the neck and head pain? Those are notorious exercises for causing injuries because it's so easy to forget proper form while focusing only on the amount of weight. You'll get more benefit from your workout by lessening the weight, slowing down the reps, and using absolutely perfect form. Can you hire a trainer for a few sessions to iron out any form issues?

Avatar f tn The headache has not returned but stranger yet was a interesting sensitivity to my scalp at the rear center top of my head. It lasted 6 days and was moderate in pain and hurt when touching my hair or trying to sleep on that side. It has since left and then a few days later I noticed a swelling, or puffy area in that little crevice on my left collar bone at base of my neck. The collar bone feels weird. My regular doctor has requested a CT scan of neck and chest.

Avatar f tn The neck pain comes on just after the nausea and resolves at the same time. This is a mystery. I had an MRI of my neck and head and will get results Tuesday. But I am considering your suggestions because it's not looking neurological, skeletal, muscular or vascular. Thanks again.
Avatar n tn Just concerned about what this is and what I should ask her. We had some issues in my family with my aunt not being diagnosed correctly with her cancer and she died because of it. I just want to rule out the bad stuff. Do you think it would be out of line to request a CBC as well? I understand it might be considered out of the norm, just afraid because of this personal experience.
Avatar n tn I have a hard, non-tender lump on the right side of the back of my head down towards my neck. I noticed it in undergrad (4 years ago) and they took blood work. The NP said that my white count (i think) was slightly elevated, and that i probably had a virus lingering around, which would explain the swollen lymph node on the back of my head. It has never gone away. It has been there at least 4 years now. I have lately been SUPER fatigued.
Avatar m tn Whereas in the past, the “face” of head and neck cancer was a man in his 60s with a history of heavy smoking and alcohol consumption, the men diagnosed with HPV oropharyngeal cancer do not smoke heavily and may still be in their 50s or younger, although older men are also affected. Dr. Wirth explains that HPV cancers show a specific pattern as to where they arise.
Avatar n tn The general term used for babies who can not hold their head up well is head lag. At birth, all babies have head lag. Some control over head movement is reached by 8 weeks so that head lag lessens. By the age of 4-6 months, most babies should be able to hold their head up when pulled by their arms to a seated position. However, there is of course some variation between infants, and some may hold their head up earlier and some a little later.
488689 tn?1337993158 As someone with cancer and a member of the cancer forum, I would like to apologize for the situation you innocently stepped into. The hoopla wasn't over people with cysts being on the forum. It was misunderstood to mean that, but that was not true and it created a bad situation that I hope will be resolved through communication & understanding betweent the two forums.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Has anyone ever heard of breast cancer (IBC or other) spreading up the neck to cause neck, ear, and head pain on that side? I have a swollen axillary node and pain in my breast and up my neck to my ear and head and nobody can figure it out, even breast specialists. Does this sound famiiar to anyone? Thanks so much for any info.
Avatar n tn 07 with neck pain and unable to turn her neck to the right. Her neck/head also was tilted to the left. PCP stated that it was Torticollis and that it should go away in a couple of days. After not resolving he prescibed a muscle rexlant which did not help. Soft cervical collar was also tried, did not help. Sent for physical therapy, did not help, and probably made worse. PT stated that there must be an underlying condition because she could not get anywhere in helping her.
Avatar n tn Hi there and welcome to the medhelp forum. The cause of mass effect needs to be checked, if it is a prolapsed intervertebral disc b/w C6-C7 due to trauma or age related disc degeneration or slipping of C7 vertebra over C6 (spondylolisthsis). You would also need to be checked for if there is any central canal stenosis and spine compression. Management would vary according to the etiology. Initially supportive measures are tried like painkillers for pain and physiotherapy for relief of symptoms.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed anti-depressents which calmed me but the headaches continued. I was then sent for a MRI head and neck scan without dye which came back clear. I have also had a ct scan of bowel and several other tests which again have been ok. I am now feeling sick but my GP will not send me for any more tests. I have a fear of cancer after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago which turned out to be a complete mistake.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes enlarge when there is an infection. The head and neck area have an extensive network of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes function like a filter, and thus increase in size in the presence of infection to filter out organisms. Even with treatment, some lymph nodes remain enlarged. A recurrent infection would further increase the size of the lymph node. However, there are other conditions that can present with lymph node enlargement. Head and neck malignancy is an example.
Avatar m tn You need to show yourself to a neurologist for assessment of cervical disc degenerative disease or disc prolapsed causing compression of exiting nerve roots and hence the neck pain and tingling and numbness. Get an MRI spine to confirm the pathology. You would be offered NSAIDS, physiotherapy, epidural injection of steroids and acupressure, lastly spine decompressive surgery or cervical fusion. Hope this helps. Take care. .
Avatar f tn You raise a great question, but the jury is still out on this issue. The effects of cellphone radiation on head and neck tumors has not been shown but also not been extensively studied." to my follow up question re 'can we test for this' and could there be a relation to the head jerking, he said: "There's no way to test for this, and I certainly don't think it has any relation to your head jerking." how would you feel?
