Avatar m tn so 1 morning i woke up with a stiff neck that started at the base of my head and traveled down thu the back left side of my neck and into my left shoulder, a couple days later the pain was accompanied by a bad headache persistently behind my eyes with this throbbing like pain and behind my left ear that almost feels like a bad earache. Then a day or two after that i began to have skin soreness kind of like when you have the flu, only it was in my scalp and on the aching part of my neck.

Avatar f tn Shortly after my 16 month old grandson turned 1 year, his eyes started rolling back in his head for a few seconds 5-6 times a day. We took him off gluten and milk and it got better for a few weeks, but he is doing it again. He had a normal EEG and MRI and doctors do not know what is causing it. At first it looked totally uncontrolled. Now he usually shakes his head when he does it, or rubs his eyes or sticks a finger in his eyes when he does it as if his eyes are bothering him.
Avatar n tn I have a hard, non-tender lump on the right side of the back of my head down towards my neck. I noticed it in undergrad (4 years ago) and they took blood work. The NP said that my white count (i think) was slightly elevated, and that i probably had a virus lingering around, which would explain the swollen lymph node on the back of my head. It has never gone away. It has been there at least 4 years now. I have lately been SUPER fatigued.
Avatar m tn Whereas in the past, the “face” of head and neck cancer was a man in his 60s with a history of heavy smoking and alcohol consumption, the men diagnosed with HPV oropharyngeal cancer do not smoke heavily and may still be in their 50s or younger, although older men are also affected. Dr. Wirth explains that HPV cancers show a specific pattern as to where they arise.
Avatar n tn The general term used for babies who can not hold their head up well is head lag. At birth, all babies have head lag. Some control over head movement is reached by 8 weeks so that head lag lessens. By the age of 4-6 months, most babies should be able to hold their head up when pulled by their arms to a seated position. However, there is of course some variation between infants, and some may hold their head up earlier and some a little later.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Has anyone ever heard of breast cancer (IBC or other) spreading up the neck to cause neck, ear, and head pain on that side? I have a swollen axillary node and pain in my breast and up my neck to my ear and head and nobody can figure it out, even breast specialists. Does this sound famiiar to anyone? Thanks so much for any info.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed anti-depressents which calmed me but the headaches continued. I was then sent for a MRI head and neck scan without dye which came back clear. I have also had a ct scan of bowel and several other tests which again have been ok. I am now feeling sick but my GP will not send me for any more tests. I have a fear of cancer after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago which turned out to be a complete mistake.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes enlarge when there is an infection. The head and neck area have an extensive network of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes function like a filter, and thus increase in size in the presence of infection to filter out organisms. Even with treatment, some lymph nodes remain enlarged. A recurrent infection would further increase the size of the lymph node. However, there are other conditions that can present with lymph node enlargement. Head and neck malignancy is an example.
Avatar f tn You raise a great question, but the jury is still out on this issue. The effects of cellphone radiation on head and neck tumors has not been shown but also not been extensively studied." to my follow up question re 'can we test for this' and could there be a relation to the head jerking, he said: "There's no way to test for this, and I certainly don't think it has any relation to your head jerking." how would you feel?
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I just watched the Today show and they had a study about HPV and that the number of head and neck cancers has tripled and anal cancer has doubled due to HPV. They stated that all cancers have gone down and the HPV related ones have gone up. Can you comment on this? My worry about acquiring or giving someone oral cancer has just skyrocketed.

Avatar f tn I was also running a slight fever (about a 100). My neck became stiff and moving my head from side to side was uncomfortable. It felt like I had swelling in my head. This went on for two weeks. After those two weeks the pain got better, but the swelling feeling in my head and stiff neck were still there. I went to an STD clinic a week later and told the doctor there what had happened.
Avatar n tn I found what I believe is a lump on the top part of my breast. The only time that I feel it is when my arm is behind my head. It's sore when I push on it. It's not a round lump. I am thinking it's nothing because I can only feel it when my arm is behind my head. Could this be cancer and should I get it checked out?

Avatar n tn Oral HPV has no preference oral or vaginal, its equally satisfied to live in either place, it loves mucosa. Testing every biopsy and reporting HPV positive or negative head and neck cancers is now standard requirement teachings hospitals, but its still relatively new. I work in a giant teaching hospital in pathology. 90% of all base of tongue and tonsil cancer are hpv. we are finding up to half of all oropharyngeal, hypopharyngeal, nasopharyngeal cancers are hpv related.
