Common Questions and Answers about Hcg hormone in pregnancy

hormone

Avatar f tn Hey, How long does it usually take for the pregnancy hormone to get out of your system after a MC? I called my Ob the other day and she said that as long as I wasn't bleeding then we could start ttc again. So, I was just wondering how long the hormone stays in your system.
1936698 tn?1333915193 At 31 weeks your hormone levels are not being looked at anymore. By hormone levels I think you mean HCG. In early pregnancy if a Dr. is trying to tell if you are pregnant or if they are unsure if you are having a miscarriage or not they will look at your HCG levels. These levels should double every 48-72 hours, if they do not it is usually a bad sign. After they can see baby on the Ultrasound and get a strong Heartbeat they will stop taking these HCG levels.
Avatar n tn are you sure how far along you are? is it possible that you are further in to your pregnancy than 8 weeks? I ask this because HCG levels during the first trimester will peak sometime around 9 to 12 weeks of pregnancy, at somewhere around 25,700 to 288,000 mIU/ml. By the final weeks of the first trimester week 13 and 14, hCG levels are finally on the decline, and will be at around 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml. From there, hCG levels tend to continue the downward change into the second trimester.
Avatar f tn Also I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests. The HCG (it is a hormone) levels rise only in pregnancy and its presence will confirm the status of your pregnancy. If pregnancy is ruled out, then other causes of delayed periods need to be looked into. So my suggestion would be to consult a gynecologist and get serum HCG levels done. I hope it helps.
608847 tn?1231945618 Hi there. I don't know a whole lot but what I've learned going through my own pregnancy issues is that your HCG tends to fluctuate up and down in ectopic pregnancies. An intravaginal ultrasound scan would help rule in or rule out that possibility. Easier said than done, but try to not worry so much this weekend. I think it's good that the hospital is following up with you closely. It's nerve-wrecking, I know.
Avatar f tn Sorry if people were rude on other forums.Like everyone told you the pregnancy home test detects HCG pregnancy hormone so it can't give u positive while its negative cause as long as it tests positive then there is HCG in your urine ..
4974520 tn?1366757591 Oh I know they get them, but I just never asked what they were Lol.. I guess it just wasn't on my mind. Idk if you have the book what to expect when you're expecting, but they have a chart in there of "normal" ranges.
Avatar f tn Chances of a fake positive are really low.. They will only display positive if there is enough of the hcg hormone in your pee. False negatives are a lot more likely to happen cos you might not have enough of the hormone yet. Hope that makes sense and congratulations!!
Avatar f tn The hormone secreted during pregnancy is hcg. A rise in hcg levels is one of the causes of pregnancy symptoms. Hcg rises fairly quickly in a healthy pregnancy (doubles every 48 hours approximately). Assuming you have a healthy pregnancy and hcg levels rise normally, the hormone would cause pregnancy symptoms. This is where people get that the more symptoms you have, the higher your hcg, the healthier the pregnancy.
Avatar n tn The blood tests and the urine tests check for a pregnancy hormone. If you're body has this hormone over a ceratain level...then you're pregnant. Most home pregnancy tests will give you a postive result of this hormone when this level is over 25 and the blood tests will give you the exact count. Anything technically over 5 indicates you're pregnant although labs will vary and some raise the limit.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy test kits are basically qualitative kind of test which just tests presence of hCG hormone in the urine of pregnant woman because this hormone is only produced during pregnancy among women. But this pregnancy test depends upon the particular level of hCG in the blood. So sometime it may be possible that it can give you false negative results during early days of pregnancy only because of un- sufficient level of hCG to make test positive.
Avatar f tn i have finished 12 days after the transfer and today was the day to see my hcg hormone. I know 5 is the min,but they told me to retest.first time, almost 2 yrs ago, after i did it,it was 0,so today it was really strange to me. Rmmoye:so,did u end up pregnant?
Avatar f tn Everyone's body is different..... I wouldn't worry too much about the spotting unless you start cramping or bleeding... My level's were very low with my first one and he's 5! Spotting can happen early in pregnancy. The hormone changes can cause irritation in the cervix.. Causing you to spot....
Avatar f tn I'm also 5 weeks pregnant and I'm to sure how the hcg works but I get cramping a few times a day for a couple minutes each time and this is totally normal its just our women parts making room for baby its actually comforting for me knowing everything's working in there
Avatar m tn Now however, almost 4 months later I take another pregnancy test and get the same exact result. So my question is, is it possible for the Hcg to stay in your body this long, and I should be worried because I didn't have a complete miscarriage, or is it possible that even after being on BC (with no antibiotic interference) that I am pregnant again? I am really worried here. Another kicker I have not had a period since June after being regular my whole life... Please Help!
Avatar n tn It has helped my hcg hormone raise however it cause a scant amount of spotting which just stopped 5 days ago.what is your take on progesterone?
6628393 tn?1398789276 A pregnancy test will always be positive if a make takes one...
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.
Avatar m tn So she said we have an abnormal pregnancy then there is baby, see you in 2 weeks. Should we be worried, get a 2nd opinion or what?
Avatar n tn i had d n c a month ago after having an incomplete abortion at 6weeks,i have not received my periods and funny enough i tested for pregnancy and it came out positive, anyone in the same situation to please advise me
Avatar f tn So I had to go to the er on Friday cause I was bleeding, they checked my hormone level and it was a little over 36,000 and when I went back today, it was only 40,000, a little more, and it supposed to be double is that a problem? Or could be any problems with the baby?
Avatar f tn if u read the directions it will tell you if it's mandetory to use the morning urine, most say that its' not mandetory but just that it's recommended because it contains the highest level of the pregnancy hormone (hCG *human chrorionic gonadotropin)

Avatar n tn after mc i went to dr to make sure my hcg levels decresed and they decresed all the way to 6 after that the doctor said it wasn't necessary to schedule another appointment. Has this happened to anyone else???
882810 tn?1255374562 I had some spotting in my first pregnancy and yes your hcg levels are supposed to double every 24-48 hours and then taper off in the 12-14 week range. Sometimes spotting is normal for some women in the first 6 weeks or so. If it persists then I would definitely see your doc again. I hope things are well with you and your little bean. Let us know how you are doing!
