Hi, I wanna have some information about why is unprotected sex not efficient while taking the antibiotics? Is it because of theres a higher percentage of getting pregnanat or is it because of the infection? I’d like to have an answer to this since I’m on my 4th day of taking the antibiotics for 12 days and had unprotected sex.

For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily).
I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm.
My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night?
I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
After, I was really worried if either of this (sexual intercourse or the oral sex) would affect my treatment of the BV at all or have an impact on the metronidazole working and its effectiveness? Is it advisable to avoid sex during the course of taking the metronidazole?
BTW I don't have any symptoms of BV anymore though (although I am still continuing to take the medicine).
Just an update, from taking metronidazole early on in pregnancy (aswell as antihistimines), I've had my 20 week scan & my little girl is developing / growing just how she should be ;-) Did you get sorted chick?
I was told I had BV two weeks ago. I was given 5 tablets of metronidazole to swallow by mouth in one go that evening.
I returned to the clinic on a Tuesday and was told some BV remained (half of it had gone). I was then given another 10 metronidazole tablets to take by mouth (one twice a day). The doctor said no alcohol but did not mention anything at all about whether I should refrain from sex.
I have a really wierd discharge from my penis after successful Chlamydia treatment. During the first round of Chlamydia treatment, azithromycin didn't work according to my retest, so I took Doxycycline and according to the results from the test last Saturday- I am now free and clear of both Chlamydia and Gonarrhea. However, I have this new type of discharge that happens in the morning. The discharge appears similar to semen but it can't be. Urination is painful.
it's better to take it and avoid alcohol . the longer you don't treat your bv, the harder it is to get rid of and the more miserable you feel. also don't have any sex while you are taking it either - bv increases your risk of acquiring a std if you don't have a partner who's std status you are aware of. fyi - you try to drink alcohol while on the medication, you will end up in the ER. it makes you extremely ill.

I am to take two tablets a day for 7 days and was advised not to have sex or drink alcohol while taking the medication. Not always, but some people have a hard time taking them. You absolutely can not drink alcohol while on metronidazole. It will make you very ill. If you end up taking it (you shouldn't), don't drink alcohol for at least 3 days after your last dose.
You really need to get a hold on your anxiety. I don't know if you cheated on a regular partner and that's why you are so anxious, but guilt does not equal risk.

i got the pill but am hesitant to take it. okay i told the doctor that am having this heavy discharge and he prescribe me this without even checking what it is.
Also, did you drink when you took the metronidazole? Drinking while taking this medication can cause vomiting and sickness.

.. My doctor prescribed me metronidazole 4 pills 500 mg each to take all at once.. So me and him ate and then took them this morning/afternoon around mabey 130 or 2 pm.. Not that I am aware of. I have taken metronidazole without any problems except for it bothering my stomach.
