Hi there. Well, each contraceptive has something called a package insert that should spell it out for the particular pill you are taking. This 'pi' is in the package when you open it. Now, you missed a pill when trying to get established on it. That in and of itself could jeopardize it's efficacy. And you did that 2 or 3 times. I would not think that this month is safe for you to think that the pill is going to work.
So you did not miss any of the "active" birth control pills, correct? It could be just a discharge that you're having because of that. I'm no Dr but I would suggest you take this pack as directed and take the inactive pills and see if you get a regular period.
( If you tend to respond poorly to oral contraceptives, maybe you could look into Mirena IUD or Nuvaring.
if you aren't taking your birth control correctly then yes you could get pregnant use protection and make sure you get you period as normal if you don't then take a pregnancy test
I'm taking the type of BC with three weeks of active pills, and then one week of inactive (Orsythia-28). When I renewed the Rx the new pack was a bit different and I screwed up. I started on the wrong end and took another week of inactive pills. The timeline went like this.
9/1 - 9/7 -- Finished pack with inactive pills as usual, this was my period week.
9/8 - 9/13 -- Took more inactive pills by accident.
I had sex on the night I had taken my last inactive pill of the bc pack. I just made my refill meaning I won't have my new pack of bc for 3 days. Today is Friday and I won't have pack till Monday morning. I had sex last night Thursday. Am I in danger of getting pregnant.? What should I do? Very worried.
I'm new to using loestrin birth control pills. I used all the active pills in the first cycle- and had no period. I took 3 different pregnancy tests, and they where all negative. I then started on another pack of pills, and have finished a week- and now I am spotting.
Is this a normal reaction to BC pills???
How should I go about taking my birth control the rest of the month? I’ve been taking them just like normal every day. I’m into week 2 of my pills (day 11). P.S. Just to help clarify my comment for I may have misunderstood your question. As per my interpretation of your post, please note that I'm assuming you mean that you have discontinued birth control pills by not completing "'all the active pills" for that month. In other words, if you discontinued during the "active pills" (even the very last active pill) then their is the "possibility" of becoming pregnant.
Birth control pills are generally safe and considered a good option for many women to prevent pregnancy. There are different types and working with your doctor to find the best one is the thing to do. This is between you and your doctor but it is untrue that taking birth control pills 'has side effects on your whole reproductive system" unless you consider it doing what it is supposed to while taking it, preventing pregnancy.
It helped ease my conscience of her getting pregnant, my biggest fear. All the while we were having sex, I kept pushing birth control on her because I knew it would only benefit us both, and help her not get pregnant amongst other things too. I finally got it. About a month and a half ago, she went to the gynecologist, and didn't even receive an exam before the doctor gave her 3 boxes of YAZ birth control. She was hesitant to begin it then.
My SIL got the IUD right after having her daughter, and HATED it, make sure you read all after effects of all BC and risks before you make a decision! I love Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo birth control pills, low hormones, work great, and I got really good at taking pills from my prenatals so it was no different! Good luck!
I just started taking Orthro Tri-cyclen last month and now my period is late. I started my period on a Sunday last month and I took my first pill that day. I just got done the active pills and now I'm on the inactive pills and still no period. I have been having the usual aches and pains that go with PMs, but no period. Yes, not taking your pill for just one night could cause breakthrough bleeding very quickly when taking the pills continuously. You're having your body do something it's not naturally used to doing, so it's going to take its opportunity such as when the hormone levels aren't sustained even if it's just one night.

I have been on birth control for about three months and was not able to access my birth control the night after having sex but took two pills the next day, about 19 hours after I was supposed to take the next one. I started bleeding bright red blood soon after having sex, which I assumed was from my hymen stretching, but soon began bleeding abnormally heavily and have have not stopped bleeding since then.
I sadly had an abortion on May 17th 2011. I was and still not capable of supporting a child. I started taking birth control right after my abortion. I'm now three days into the sugar pills and no signs of my period. I did have sex 3 weeks after my abortion. I'm kinda worried and would love some advice.
So I have been on antibiotics for a week now, I started taking them last wednesday(a blue active pill day), and now I am on my week of inactive pills and usually on the 3rd pill, I get my period and my periods have been 28 day cycles for the last 4 months. The only thing that has changed is my medication. Could this have something to do with my period being a day late?(stil havent gotten it). Today is the last day of taking antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection.
