Common Questions and Answers about Having sex on placebo pills

Avatar f tn Me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex Saturday and Sunday. I've been on birth control for about 3 years and this month I only took two weeks of the pill and started right to my placebo pills this week after we had sex. I'm wondering if because I skipped to my placebo pills a week early will that cause me too ovulate and get pregnant? I'm kind of freaking out.
Avatar f tn You kept taking the pills so you're still protected. If you stopped taking them and didn't start again after the end of the placebo week then you would not be protected because the protection only lasts as long as you're either taking active pills or only having the number of placebo days that are in the pack.
Avatar n tn Yes, it was explained to me. That's not my question. My question is about having unpto texted sex on the placebo week, since I'm not on my period. Usually you drink the placebos while on your cycle.
Avatar f tn Hi ive been on birth control consistently for 4 years and always skip the placebo pills and start a new pack to avoid my period. But i missed an active pill Saturday, took it on Sunday, but couldn't take Sunday and Mondays pill until Tuesday if i had unprotected sex should i be worried about pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I honestly cannot remember if we had unprotected sex the days leading up, I want to say no? Anyways, I was ready to wait a week before unprotected sex since I missed 2 pills. Well, I JUST found out that I should’ve started a new pack once I got to placebo instead of going through that week. Oops. I got my period placebo week and everything has been fine and I am 2 days in on my new pack. We just had unprotected sex last night.
Avatar f tn I have been on birth control for 5 years. Recently I missed all 4 placebo pills and had unprotected sex. Than I missed one white pill of my new pack. I haven't gotten my period. Is there anyway I could be pregnant?
Avatar f tn I have a similar situation, but I am not worried about getting pregnant at this time. I am on my first month of Trinessa Low. I am on day 2 of the placebo pills. I am thinking of only taking 5 placebo pills the next two months in hopes that my period will come a few days early in August (so I can be blood free on my vacation). I am also playing with the idea of only taking 6 of the lowest dose of pills the first week for the next cycle.
Avatar f tn What is the actual chance that I could have gotten pregnant by starting my new pack a day late after having sex at the end of my placebo week?
Avatar n tn I had sex about 8 days ago, and my boyfriend and I used a condom and he pulled out. I am also on YAZ BC pills. I take these pills everyday at times varying between 2-3 hours roughly. Last month I took my placebo pills one day earlier as I had lost one of the pink active tablets and didn't have a replacement. I also had one day between my placebo pill and the next active pill where I didn't take anything as I had to buy a new pack. I took two pills the next day to make up for that.
Avatar f tn My other question is what if I was like the same amount of time late maybe 3 hrs. But I had taken the placebo sugar pill. I was like on my 3rd placebo. But I did the same thing. I'm probably still fine right?
Avatar m tn We use condoms regardless, but she is very paranoid either way. I told her, based on my knowledge, that even during placebo week we would be okay to have sex. We don't have sex on her period anyway, but the day after it ends and she takes a non-placebo pill then we are still protected. Of course this is all considering she is taking the pill correctly and at the same time each day (which she is).
1336925 tn?1275750093 I have to corret nickie on something here... It's not accurate to say that you don't ovulate on bcp "a lot of the times." The purpose of bcp is not to ovulate AT ALL, so if you're taking your pills as directed, you have a LESS than 1% chance of ovulating and getting pregnant (pretty slim). And since you are on the pill, you are not having "unprotected" sex - the pill is your protection; condoms are much less effectives than pills.
Avatar m tn If you have been on the pill for the designated time (usually at least 7 days) and have not missed and have been good about taking them about the same time daily, yes you are protected on the placebo week. However, if you were to randomly take a pill on your period and have unprotected sex, no.
Avatar f tn You can get pregnant at any time while on birth control pills. it does not matter what day it is or if you're on the regular pills or placebo. birth control pills are not 100% and LOTS of women get pregnant while on them even though they take them correctly. if you are having symptoms take a home pregnancy test asap so if you are pregnant, you will know to stop taking the pills.

Avatar m tn What pill are you on? As the above poster mentioned, condoms are a must for the first month when it comes to most birth controls so you could get pregnant. Sperm can live in your body for a few days, and some women are fertile as early as 7 days in their cycle. I'd suggest continuing to take the birth control but use a condom from here on out.
Avatar f tn I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and he did *** inside of me. Ive been on birth control for about 10 months. Now on my placebo pills I have experienced light spotting ranging from bright red and then brown discharge but no period. Im very worried I might be pregnant.. I haven't missed a pill and take it everyday (around the same time for 10 months).
Avatar m tn I have heard this is due to the type of birth control that I am on, because it only has 2 days of placebo pills, all the rest are active pills. Please help??
Avatar f tn I've been on yaz for about 5 months now and its fine anyway I skipped my placebo pills last week and started out with a new pack but I noticed very slight pinkish discharge only when i swipe yesterday. Is this normal or could it be implantation bleeding? Has anyone experienced this?
Avatar f tn I'm on birth control, one week last month i kept taking it kind of late (I am on Lo Loestrin so I don't think this matters), and was and am having unprotected sex. About a week or two earlier than my placebo pills, I got what I think was my period - heavy, had clots in it, and lasted roughly 3 or 4 days. I had no period during my placebo pills and brown discharge shortly thereafter. Now two weeks into my new pack pills, I got nervous and decided to take a pregnancy test.
Avatar f tn I've been on birth control pills for 8 months with a one month break but have been consistently on it for two months now. I have never missed a dose, never taken a pill more than 2 hours late or taken antibiotics or had vomiting or diarrhea to affect the pill. My periods have been consistent on the pill, I'll usually have spotting for a few days before my placebo week when I get my period/withdrawal bleeding.
Avatar m tn ve been on birth control pills for almost 4 months now, im on my 4th month and i missed the last 3 placebo pills of my 3rd month. 7 days ago i had sex with my boyfriend and then 5 days after that i had this brown spots on my underwear and im having back cramps and a really really emotional week. im afraid that i might be pregnant. am i?
Avatar f tn If you've been taking your pill properly, then yes, it's safe (although condoms are always a good idea). Most pills say you're protected after one week on them, and after that for as much time as you're on them, as long as you have no gaps in your pill taking (i.e., you start your new packs on time and take all active pills correctly).
Avatar f tn Hello, I am on oral contraceptives and recently went on vacation, during which time I wished to skip my period. I talked to my OBGYN and was instructed on how to do so. The last four pills in my pack were placebo, and I was told to take the first placebo pill and start my new pack the following day. I did not receive my period, as planned. I continued to have unprotected sex with my boyfriend, as my doctor had told me that skipping my period would not affect the accuracy of my birth control.
Avatar f tn Approximately one month ago I started taking a progestin-only birth control pill called Nora-Be. I've taken the pills perfectly; I haven't missed any and I take them at the same time every night. Whenever my boyfriend and I have sex, we use a condom and my boyfriend pulls out several minutes before orgasm. Every time he pulls out, he checks the condom religiously for any signs of a hole or tear, as well as any wetness that could mean he didn't pull out in time.
