Avatar f tn So I was just diagnosed with genital warts(HPV) of course I was upset all day with the thought that I am stuck with this all my life. I have several questions...if the warts are not showing am I able to have sex without spreading it or no matter what I will always spread it to whomever I am with? Also what about oral sex is it forever to never happen again because I don't want to take a chance on that someone getting them in their mouth?
Avatar f tn He needs to recover his health from the virus. Usually people wait 2-3-6 months before having sex after removal of a wart. Just because its gone does not mean it will not return. If you two must have sex during his recovery period, he should wear a latex condom because it will allow his body to recover. His priority right now should be his recovery. Not sex..... After he recovers, you two can have all of the unsafe sex you want for the rest of your lives, together.
Avatar f tn HPV is extremely contagious so if he doesn't have that strain, he probably got it from you. The thing is you don't know if he has already been exposed. If he has been very sexually active, most likely he has been. Have a talk about hpv with him so he knows the possible consequences to his future partners (cancer). You should still get the vaccine as it will protect from any hpv you haven't already been exposed to.
Avatar f tn s always the chance that she could already have hpv being that we have been sexually active with no protection. I have always been tested regularly, In 2011 I was tested for hpv and my results were negative. Ive never had any Std/Sti until my two recent diagnosis. Its really hard on me mentally right now. I've been with the same person since then but is it true that hpv can be latent and "pop up" years later?
Avatar f tn ) While you have warts you are contagious so take care with sex. You can spread HPV by touching yourself then a partners gentials or the same for them. After your warts are gone you wait 3 to 6 months and then if you have no new warts you can assume it is safe to have sex without disclosure. In the future you can choose if you want to let lovers know about your history or not. Once you have a strain of HPV you have it for life and when a partner has it you can't bounce it between you.
Avatar f tn So confused about being diagnosed with hpv during my second pregnancy. Husband and I have been together for 13 years. Before we started having sex we were both tested for stds and hiv, both of us were clear. In all my adult life I have never had an abnormal papsmear. My Ob tested me at the beginning of my pregnancy for stds and papsmear still good. At 19 weeks I go in for what I think is an yeast infection and he tells me I have hpv wart.
Avatar n tn I'm 20 years old and recently started having sex with a new partner. I've only had sex with one other guy. I also recently found out I have HPV. My doctor did a colpolscopy and biopsies. The results came back no malignancies. Since the colpolscopy, everytime my partner and I have had sex I bleed a little afterward. It's never very much and stops almost immediately. Could there be something serious I need to talk to my doctor about?
Avatar f tn However, I have been having issues with bleeding during sex for the past 2 years on and off. I was diagnosed with HPV at least 5 years ago and occasionally have abnormal pap smears but for the most part have no pain or issues with it and have been with the same partner for 3.5 years.
Avatar f tn ve had only two partners. Now having sex with this second guy kind of scares me, each time I have sex (unprotected) with him i contract a yeast infection. I contracted my first yeast infection with him. I also tested positive for hpv at 17, my question//Is it common for men to pass a yeast infection without knowing he's infected?
Avatar f tn hard to know if she has had persistent hpv and never knew it, if a prior hpv infection was reoccurring to cause the + hpv dna test, if hubby has a new hpv infection or has a prior hpv infection reoccurring and recently infected her or just what. clear as mud eh?
Avatar f tn ve no ill effects for men... If you started gardasil shots after having sex with him, it is most likely that you also have the same strains but those are not visible on pap smears... as such you will not benefit from the vaccination against these two strains...
Avatar f tn Like most people, I never though in a million years that I would be diagnosed with HPV. This is all still sinking in because I just found out yesterday. I had no idea because I have never had warts or any sypmtoms. But I am more worried about transmitting the virus to someone else. I have read repeatedly all the same information on HPV from numerous different websites and they haven't gave me all the information that I'm looking for.
Avatar f tn Dear doctor, life has been very hard for me after being diagnosed with genital warts, I've been trying to do some research myself. Here are additional questions I have after doing research: According to fpa.org, Some people only ever get one episode of genital warts. 1. How often have you see this happen in patients?2. What do you tend to see more at your clinic or in general, people that get only 1 episode, or people that continue to get reocurrences? 3.
Avatar f tn Herpes pretty much never appears on the scrotum alone. What you describe regarding your scrotum and the quite hard 'pus balls' is exceptionally common for men. Sounds like nothing happened in the first three weeks after the unprotected sex. You'd expect herpes symptoms, particularly lesions, within a week, average about 4 days.
Avatar m tn The main bottom line is that having HPV, even with overt warts, can be viewed as normal, largely unavoidable, and rarely a serious threat to health. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn I was just diagnosed with HPV, but I have a normal pap and no warts... I'm not sure what that means since everywhere I look everyone else with the HPV seems to have one or the other. What does this mean?
