a woman has HIV, the average chance of transmission from a single episode of unprotected vaginal sex is around 1 in 2,000. That's equivalent to having unprotected sex with infected women once daily for 5 years before infection would be likely. (Probably you are unaware that many spouses of HIV infected people never catch HIV themselves, even with regular unprotected sex.
