Hard lump after root canal

Common Questions and Answers about Hard lump after root canal

lump

Avatar n tn A year ago I had a root canal done by an endodontist on my upper eye tooth, the tooth was crowned on a bridge prior to the root canal. I'd begun to have pain and my general dentist removed the bridge, removed some decay & replaced the old bridge with a new one. I still had pain in the tooth and gums which worsened over the next few months so I went back to my dentist several times and completed several rounds of antibiotics which caused a yeast infection in my gums.
Avatar f tn i got a root canal about a month and a half ago, and about a week after, a red lump appeared on my gums next to the tooth. I kept a close eye on it and after a week it disappeared. Now its back. Its hard and not at all painful, just kind of annoying. What is it and what should i do about it?
Avatar f tn That did not help and was switched to amoxicillin, followed by a root canal. The root canal was a week ago but the lump from the abscess is still on my gum. Is this normal? I was not put on antibiotics after the root canal but I took the last 2 amox. From the prescrip I had been given the week before.
1176334 tn?1266347704 However when they adjusted the bote on the corwn, the vibtraion from the drill hurt a surprising amount, but this was only 2 days after the root canal. Basically the day after, barely any pain...day 2 a little pain, enough to think i needed the bite adjusted, 3rs day pain getting worse and that night, OH BROTHER AGONY!!!!! day 4 excrutiating pain..day 5-6 pain getting better but have been doubling up the dose on penicillin...
Avatar n tn I had a Root canal done on my right upper molar about a month ago. The next day after having it done when I woke up my face was very very itchy, Then after about a week my whole body started itching and now I get some hives too. The only time I can get it to slow down or stop for a day or so is to take benadryl(usually 25mg). Also I have a big sore spot about a half an inch behind the molar that was done now the pain seems to be up inside the gum and near my ear now too.
Avatar f tn Id get another opinion, seriously. Im in my 4th week after a root canal...i had a root canal done and about 5 days afterwards, I THOUGHT I WAS DYING! i had the most intense pain, worst dental pain of my life. went back in and aparently there was infection before the root canal which was undiagnosed on the xray...
1176334 tn?1266347704 sais that the filing she had done was so deep it was almost touching the nerve and that i needed a root canal...okay YES! I wasnt scaed...ive had 3 of them, i just wanted the pain and issues to go away after 6th months! so the dds does the root canals in 2 parts (never had it done like that), anyways he did the 1st part and a few days later i has a knot inside of my cheek, basically besides my nose...where you would think the root tip would be...
Avatar f tn Why will antibiotics not cure this infection if it's bacterial? I have the same problem, although I only noticed the lump on my gum after having a root canal on tooth #14. The nerves had died though prior to the root canal. It's been two weeks since the root canal and I still have the lump and lingering numbness on the left side of my cheek and lips. After the first root canal procedure I took Cleocin for 5 days.
Avatar m tn I was just reading another writer's issue with a lump on their gum and it sounds just like an issue I have been dealing with for a few years. Mine is with a canine that had a root canal done twice and then a crown. So much pain in that area that radiates to my ears and top of my head that I had the tooth root cut out.
Avatar n tn I have recently come across a small lump in the right side of my neck located just past the halfway point of my neck and slightly towards the back (behind my ear as opposed to in front of it). The lump is not painful, hard, and I can move it slightly up and down, and it's not round more of and oval shape. I don't smoke or drink, I am however tired all the time.
202827 tn?1238014289 I went to the dentist, because I was a bit scared, the dentist gave me medication, and told me I would eventually have to get this tooth pulled, or get a root canal. WEll my hard headed behind didn't do either, I now have a bump over top of the knot, it is filled with pus, and the more I bust it, the more it comes back. Has anyone ever had this problem, and if so, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS LUMP, and is it as severe as I think it is.
Avatar m tn Hello, I had a root canal on a lower molar (#20, i think) in feb 2010. It is now August 2011 & that tooth has abcessed. I had it pulled a few days ago & a lot of the pain & swelling has gone. There is still a hard lump, but I'm only on my 3rd day of antibiotics. My first question is, shouldn't a root canal last longer than 18 months? I felt at the time that they didnt do something right?
Avatar f tn Problem is, I have discovered, 3 days after treatment a round hard lump--painless--between the gum and the incisor root way up on the outside of the upper row of teeth/root line--about the size of a pea...can't go in until next week, can someone alleviate my fears/incite them about what this might be?
Avatar m tn He identified the issue as a tooth infection and scheduled a root canal for after the infection is cured. I had no swelling at the time. The pain lessened but was still noticeable since beginning the antibiotic (amoxicillin). This morning I woke up with the pain mostly gone from the tooth; however, my jaw is now swollen with what feels like a hard lump and is sensitive to being touched. I am traveling for work and was wondering if I should seek emergency help.
Avatar n tn Hello I had a root canal about 3 weeks ago which went well. No pain now, everything fine. There was lot's of pain before I had it done though and I took anti inflammatories that helped it. I have lost about 2 stone last few months purely due to eating healthy. I noticed a soft lump on my lower jawbone( under the skin right hand side slightly lower than my ear) which feels like it is coming from under the jawbone and then it goes up my cheek about one inch, so tear shaped.
Avatar n tn This caused a circulation problem which led to his penis being in a hard state while flacid. This was discovered after he underwent a ultrasound. Unsure if it was a testicular or penis ultrasound. The reason why this can become hard to diagnose is that it is alot cheaper to suggest antibiotics than to have an ultrasound done. Well...I hope this will help someone who might have thought they had some sort of crazy new std. I have no viral infections and no std's so im hoping this is it.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal and several weeks later noticed a pea-sized hard lump on my lower jaw bone, directly down from the root canal. The dentist who put my crown on after the root canal, said that the lump had nothing to do with the root canal, and that I probably always had this lump. Does this sound reasonable?
Avatar f tn Its also possible that the nerve inside the tooth is degenerating and its needs a root canal. The only way you'll know is if you go back to your dentist to get it checked out. You can also wait to have the new crown placed and if everything improves, then it was definitely a poor fitting temporary.
Avatar n tn yeah i agree sounds like a yucky ol abcess, been there done that even after a roto canal! Id call the dds back and say you believe you have an abcess, describe it to them and tell them that its starting to cause you pain. they most likey will put you on antiobiotics or antiobiotcs and a steriod.
Avatar n tn On Tuesday, I went to my dentist. He said my double molar needed a root canal. He prescribed PENICILLIN. I had severe pain and my jaw was swollen on Wednesday and Thursday. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, I wasn't able to see my dentist so I went to the emergency room. The hospital prescribed CLINDAMYCIN as the antibiotic and OXYCODONE for the pain. On Friday, I went to my dentist again and he said pulling the tooth was the best option.
Avatar n tn Hi Last year I started having root canal treatment on a crowned tooth that was infected, in the end the tooth had to be removed and ended up being very traumatic.
Avatar n tn 16 months ago I had a root canal on tooth in lower right (3rd tooth from back). Everything seemed fine until a few months ago...started getting intermitent pains. Went to endodontic. Examined and took xrays. Could not seem to find the culprit. He even consulted with other endos during my visit. Put me on antibiotics, which did not help. After more xrays and a consult with a periodontic, it was decided I would have an apicoectomy.

Avatar n tn However, other problems came along with it which of course is not for mixed company... But yikes woman! I was afraid to get a friggin root canal if I was on tx and you go and get major surgery! I can't believe the doc would do that unless you had a major emergent problem that couldn't wait...jeeeezzzzlouise fres! Did they leave your ovaries or take them?
Avatar f tn They say if you're going to Hyperstimulate you will do so a few days after retrieval. Well, my bloating, etc....just got worse and worse after retrieval. I really thought they were going to cancel my transfer. Luckily, it didn't get too bad, but progressively kept getting worse AFTER my transfer. It's been a rough week, BUT, yesterday I started feeling better. I've had more IVs and blood this week than everything else combined! I'm still having cramps, but they're definitely mild.
