Hard lump after root canal

Common Questions and Answers about Hard lump after root canal

lump

Avatar n tn I had a root canal and several weeks later noticed a pea-sized hard lump on my lower jaw bone, directly down from the root canal. The dentist who put my crown on after the root canal, said that the lump had nothing to do with the root canal, and that I probably always had this lump. Does this sound reasonable?
Avatar f tn s bacterial? I have the same problem, although I only noticed the lump on my gum after having a root canal on tooth #14. The nerves had died though prior to the root canal. It's been two weeks since the root canal and I still have the lump and lingering numbness on the left side of my cheek and lips. After the first root canal procedure I took Cleocin for 5 days.
Avatar f tn That did not help and was switched to amoxicillin, followed by a root canal. The root canal was a week ago but the lump from the abscess is still on my gum. Is this normal? I was not put on antibiotics after the root canal but I took the last 2 amox. From the prescrip I had been given the week before.
Avatar m tn I have a hard lump (teeth hard) growing out of my bottom jaw. It's located on the outer side of my lower right side jaw below and between my two back molar teeth. It's pea sized and grew from barely noticeable to full size in 2 days. It doesn't move around freely and feels like it's attached to my jaw bone. I had my wisdom tooth removed from that location about a year ago because it impacted my other tooth.
1176334 tn?1266344104 However when they adjusted the bote on the corwn, the vibtraion from the drill hurt a surprising amount, but this was only 2 days after the root canal. Basically the day after, barely any pain...day 2 a little pain, enough to think i needed the bite adjusted, 3rs day pain getting worse and that night, OH BROTHER AGONY!!!!! day 4 excrutiating pain..day 5-6 pain getting better but have been doubling up the dose on penicillin...
Avatar f tn Id get another opinion, seriously. Im in my 4th week after a root canal...i had a root canal done and about 5 days afterwards, I THOUGHT I WAS DYING! i had the most intense pain, worst dental pain of my life. went back in and aparently there was infection before the root canal which was undiagnosed on the xray...
Avatar m tn Lump after root canal is generally associated with failed root canal treatment. If you wish to save the tooth, redo root canal is a viable option. There are U.S. trained dentists practising in beijing and shanhei. They may help you.
Avatar n tn I have this same thing but I haven't had a root canal done or a crown replaced. It feels like there's a lump there also. It's quite painful when pressed on and often burns. My right front tooth (below the lump)is also partially decayed and slightly loose. I know I have gum disease but is this cancer? Let me know what it could be. I would really appreciate your best guess. I have an HMO and cannot find a dentist in my area that will see me. Please get back to me.
Avatar n tn 16 months ago I had a root canal on tooth in lower right (3rd tooth from back). Everything seemed fine until a few months ago...started getting intermitent pains. Went to endodontic. Examined and took xrays. Could not seem to find the culprit. He even consulted with other endos during my visit. Put me on antibiotics, which did not help. After more xrays and a consult with a periodontic, it was decided I would have an apicoectomy.
Avatar m tn A dull patch? I'm not familiar with that term so I'm not sure what she is saying. If a root canal is performed, it depends on whats going on underneath. In this case, since the crown was done recently, I'd feel it would be fine to leave the crown and do a root canal through it instead of replacing the crown. It should be structurally fine after a root canal as they'll do a filling to replace the missing tooth and crown structure.
Avatar f tn My dentist said it could be that the crack is all the way to nerve and if the bite pain will not go away in a week or two then he is going to do root canal. But now I felt throbbing pain after I drink cold water and once in a while mild shooting pain. He did an xray and found nothing wrong. So I still don't understands all this pain.
Avatar m tn He identified the issue as a tooth infection and scheduled a root canal for after the infection is cured. I had no swelling at the time. The pain lessened but was still noticeable since beginning the antibiotic (amoxicillin). This morning I woke up with the pain mostly gone from the tooth; however, my jaw is now swollen with what feels like a hard lump and is sensitive to being touched. I am traveling for work and was wondering if I should seek emergency help.
4279185 tn?1352121677 Several years passed, new dentist decided to redo the root canal and perform an apiectomy. One day after stitches came out the familiar pimple was back. Since then i have lived with this infection, every so often i have to forcibly drain it to reduce the swelling and pain. Most of the time it is painless, no problems and giving my gum a press to force the infection out is part of my daily teeth routine.
Avatar n tn If the fistula( sinus tract is the correct term) persists after completion of root canal obturation, it indicates that there is periapical infection present. treatment options are, redo root canal, periapical surgery with retrograde filling, extraction. Seeing an endodontist is advised.
Avatar f tn It is about half and inch long and sticks out enough for me to catch my finger on it. I went to a dentist a year ago and he said it looked like I needed a root canal by the X-ray, but I have feeling in my tooth so he didn't want to do it. I just recently went to have it checked out again. I got the same response from an oral surgeon to referred me to a root canal specialist(endodontist). He did the same root canal test and took an X-ray from a different view.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal on 5/6/08. I noticed swelling a few weeks later in my face and neck and went back to the dentist who said this was not caused by the tooth. I then went to an endodontist who confirmed this. I had an ultra sound of the neck and was told there was no lump although I feel there is a lump (probably swollen lymph nodes). I then consulted an ENT doctor who thought the swelling was from the tooth and told me to go to an oral surgeon.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal done and was put on a regime of antibiotics for 10 days. The bite was off for some reason and that was adjusted as well. All the symptoms subsided except now there is a pain/soreness on the SIDES of the crowned tooth. The gum area feels fine. I went back to the endodontist today and spoke to him about these sensations on the sides of the tooth. He could not figure why this was happening, and went through all deductive reasoning of what it could be.
1399363 tn?1462342610 Thanks for the information. So did your heart act up after the root canal or not? Because mine was fine before the root canal. If the infection is there before the root canal, isnt the racing heart should occur even before the root canal? Or maybe the bacteria spreading because of the root canal? i still quite don't understand it.
Avatar m tn Dear after 7 year of root canal treatment in my one back side tooth got fractured due to some hard eatable got pressed. my dentist took Xray find some fractured & advising to extract the tooth. Please advise , root canal can be done again with some repair of fractured tooth.presently iam on antibiotic since 4 day.
Avatar n tn ve reduced the height of the tooth to prevent pain after the initial therapy of a root canal. Its the most common reason for pain after the start of a root canal. The needles you refer to are endodontic files and are used to remove tissue in the canal and to shape it for a filling material. These files remove the infected tissue so if he's using them, it should be doing the job of removing the badly infected tissue.
Avatar n tn five years ago i had a root canal and shortly after had the tooth removed. since then i have had constant drainage and a feeling of stuffiness in my upper jaw. i have had oral surgery twice and seen ear nose and throat doctors also to no avaial. i also have stiffness and skin eruptions on my neck and shoulders on that side .
Avatar f tn You may just check out any frank cavity or food imapaction area in related teeth to the swelling. In such case you may need antibiotics and root canal treatment of the affected tooth with the help of a dentist. Other possibilties could be pyogenic granuloma, fibroma, periodontal abscess etc. Check out with local dentist to confirm.
Avatar n tn Hi, I know that exact same smell you are referring too. My boyfriend complains when I floss in the car, after eating something that I feel is stuck in my teeth. Anyhow, if you are self conscious abotu this, you definitley need to get it checked. I never really smell other then when I floss, but just becasue I dont smell it, doesn't mean it aint there. I have other problems that need to be addressed as well. I had a whole in my back tooth. The dentist that I went to, was a first time thing.
