Guidant pacemaker recall

Common Questions and Answers about Guidant pacemaker recall

pacemaker

Avatar n tn Medtronic, Guidant, and St Jude make up most of the pacer implants, >90%. Medtronic and guidant in particular are very popular. Do some google research, there are some published articles on models names and recalls. And types, look into that too, as there are single lead, 2 lead, etc. Pacers only activate at too low of a rate, they do nothing over a certain heart rate (usually around 40).
967168 tn?1477584489 I had a Boston Scientific Teligen 100 w/Guidant leads implanted on August 28, 2009. Almost 2 years later my thresh holds remain high at almost 1100 and I was told they want to repair or remove them because my interrogations keep showing loss of capture, noise and tons of events that look like artifacts (254 just since May 19th).
Avatar m tn I too am looking for information about a recall on this pacemaker as I have experienced problems that mirror the problems I had when I first found I needed a pacemaker. I had it reprogrammed once but the results although very good were short lived. Let me know if you learn anymore that might help both of us and I will do the same.
Avatar n tn Need an upgraded pacemaker? Pacemaker recall? What kind and what brand of your pacemaker? Do you have the serial number? You can directly contact the producer and find out why? Mine is St Jude and implanted in 2002. Still got 3 years to go. Once stage they said all the professional needed to download a programme because it reading the battery life in error. The programme in error but NOT the pacemaker itself. http://www.medscape.
Avatar f tn I'm having what the doctor referred to as a "generator repair" on my pacemaker next Tuesday. How long does this usually take? What other complications might be found?
Avatar n tn Looking for confirmation pacemaker brand recall. Could not confirm from its website. Showed several still confused as to number match. Mine implanted 18May2015, Model PM2240 Serial # 7623852.
Avatar n tn t recall anyone who said they had problems other that a sore spot on the chest, but almost all people with pacemaker insertions report greater energy and a better quality of life. I also have a pacemaker, and am feeling great. I would proceed with great confidence and pass that on to your Grandmother. She will sail through this and feel much better, and she will undoubtedly get through the procedure better with your support.
Avatar f tn I have had numerous surgeries including the Fontan in 1987 with a revision of the Fontan in 2006, where at that time I also had a Medtronic Enrhythym Pacemaker install. 3 weeks ago I had a Pacemaker replacement due to the fact my battery on my Pacemaker was running low. The new Pacemaker installed is a Medtronic Adapta. Since the new pacemaker my Heart beat has been all over the place. My 1st Enrhythym was paced at 80 bpm, and it pretty much stayed like that for 5.
967168 tn?1477584489 How Boston actually had them approved by the FDA but then changed their method of production for example, causing a recall I think. I did come across a couple of cases where the leads were at fault and not the ICD. One case was the RV lead, and this wasn't made by Boston so they washed their hands of it. From the sound of it, the ICD is likely to be fine, if there's a problem it's more likely to be one of the leads.
Avatar n tn An internal defibrillator is not a pacemaker as most folks understand a pacemaker to be. It's really called an implant cardioverter defibrillator and in my case,a single lead model attached to my left ventrical and is supposed to arrest ventricular tachycardia. it does this two ways. 1 thru cardioversion which is very aggresive pacemaking. Mine is programmed to perform cardioversion thru 15 beats.
Avatar n tn metoprolol may not correct SOB! The pacemaker has corrected bradycardia!? The pacemaker will override any disruptions of the normal electrical impulses controlling the rate of your heart's pumping action. SOB is almost always a serious symptom...it was the only symptom for the admitting personal to put me in an emergency status, but I had other symptoms, dry cough, hyperventilating when laying down, etc . She said that is all that is needed is SOB.
Avatar m tn 2) Considering her need for a higher dosage and her occasional heart block, the combo of verapimil and a pacemaker is an appropriate next step. As I recall, a member of this board, scouser costa rica, has a pacemaker like your wife's doctor is recommending and it's working out well for him (he also takes amiodarone to decrease the frequency of afib episodes and to lower his heart rate when it does occur).. 3) There are two types of ablation to consider.
Avatar f tn I got a pacemaker June 20th on the left side. There has been swelling in my left shoulder and arm from almost the time I got the pacemaker. The left side of my neck is contantly stiff. A venogram showed no clots. The shoulder and are feel very tight and the left arm is obviously larger than the right arm to the naked eye. My cardiologist said this is unusual but didn't think I have anything to worry about. Did my surgeon put the pacemaker in incorrectly? Is it crimping my vein?
Avatar f tn My Heart Doctor suggested I have a pacemaker. I opted to NOT have this done becuase of my age and I am 5' & 106 lbs (small frame not much room for the pacemaker). I have been told by others that they had problems with the pacemaker and wish they had not done this. I had a blood test done recently and my kidney's were fine and I don't have trouble breathing or fluid. I don't want to go through the surgery of the pacemaker.
2197254 tn?1338502395 Hi guys..I have recently been fitted with a pacemaker because i was fainting, having blackouts and passing out and bradycardic.. after being released from hospital i was re-admitted and after an emergency angiagram it seemed the slow heart rate was due to the SA Node to my heart having a 40% blockage and having spasms.. my heart is perfectly fine and very good until these spasms happen with the SA Node..
Avatar m tn It would be nice if your mom had a little plastic door that could be popped open and the old batteries taken out and a new set of double A's dropped in. Such is not the case though, obviously. In fact "battery replacement" is a misnomer. In actuality, the entire pacemaker is replaced. The leads from the heart are literally unplugged from the unit, the old unit is removed, and replaced by a completely new one loaded with a fresh battery.
326176 tn?1239515689 It is more than three months since I was evaluated as a prospective candidate for pacemaker implantation for my previously detected bradycardia over the Holter monitor. However due to a number of reasons the same could not still be done.As for me I am not at all experienicing any sort of discomfort, near syncope or dizziness. Can I disregard the earlier medical advice on the pacemaker implantation option for the detected bradycardia(post MI)?
Avatar m tn I was exposed to low levels of sarin, oil well fires, pesticides and the anthrax vaccination. 2 years ago, at age 40, I had to have a pacemaker put in. I was diagnosed with syncopy, sick sinus synrdome and dilated cardiomyopathy. I am trying to start a claim with the VA due to this. Is there any information you could give me on my diagnosis and my time in the Gulf.
Avatar n tn Most ER`s have the ability to do your ICD check and give you information on any clinics that may do check ups. You can also check with the manufacture of your device. I have a Guidant ICD and use the Latitude home device and do my check ups over the phone. GOOD LUCK...

Avatar m tn I agree, from the little I know, that it is a big/difficult decision. But from what I recall reading in the past (have you done a search of MedHelp on your subject?) the process will provide relief and keep a person alive and functioning. I don't have the details without doing a research myself. Here's an internal link you may find some helpful information on: http://www.medhelp.org/search?
Avatar n tn Why was c-phen dm infant drops recalled?
176495 tn?1301280412 they wanted to do an MRI until they remembered I have a pacemaker and they were concerned the MRI would suck the pacemaker right outta my chest..not the desired outcome of the procedure.
