But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose. How much is too much Guaifenesin?

Codeine is a cough suppressant and it works well in cough syrup but not for us addicts. I agree with pharma9. Get some cough syrup with dextromethorphan and guaifenesin and take as directed. Get the Walgreens/CVS brand because it's cheaper and works just as well :) Good for you for not taking that syrup and for declining pain meds. You're being extra vigillant which we HAVE to be. Oh and I've taken percogesic and it's a decent otc pain reliever.

iv been doing alot of looking on the internet about this sort of thing. there is a cough syrup called Robitussin (guaifenesin cough syrup) i know it sounds stupid because it is cough syrup, but as it has guaifenesin in it, it clears not only the mucas on your chest but also makes your cervical mucas thinner and runnier so the seman can swim through better. look it up on google. but make sure you get the one with guaifenesin in it as the other ones can dry up the cervical mucas .

For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!

I just got back from the dr and he gave me cough syrup with codeine (very mild) so that i can sleep at night along with z-pac. When I have had this in the past, I only used the cough medicine for about two nights. I haven't gotten the script filled yet. Do you think it will be ok to use this if I only take as directed? I was wondering if albterol cough syrup might help with my coughing and breathing. I am not a fan of inhalers nor do I like taking pills. Today has been horrible, everytime I open my mouth to talk I cough. I don't feel weezy it's a lot of coughing. I have been extremely busy so that bring about the coughing. Don't get it with any other active ingredients. The guaifenesin is the ingredient to loosen mucus. We generally use it for chest congerstion but it also loosens our lower region's mucus wich in turn help aid the sperm to its final goal...your egg.

Yes everybody ...... that narcotic (codeine) cough syrup is purchased OTC in several countries, India among them. Those syrups need to be treated just as any narcotic for withdraw.........they do compound health problems with a cocktail of other cough meds involved in the formulary. ......... they can get the narcs easily, but the amino's are harder and more expensive - I would think many with 5 yr histories should be advised ot the depression and some therapy for it......

Hi i can confirm that the cough syrup is robitussin chesty cough medicine that contains (guaifenesin) only.Its in a red and black box.I have never noticed my cervical mucus ever before and this was my first month on clomid.I took robitussin every morning and evening (5ml dose).You only take it after AF has ended and stop when you ovulate.I drank a glass of grapefruit juice every morning as its supposed to help CM too.

They make the Promethazine syrup with DXM (no codeine). There are also pills that you can take called Benzonate that are pretty effective. I would try non narcotic options first. I think any opiates at this point will set you back, at least mentally. If you are unable to find relief and absolutely have to do the Codeine syrup, I would be sure to give it to a trusted person to hand out your doses, that way you aren't tempted. I hope that you are able to find some relief.

if u feel like u have mucus get some guaifenesin that will clear u out and help with the cough as well. also have u taken your temp to make sure u don't have TEMP.

I found myself in the SAME situation back in the middle of December - Bronchitis, got some cough syrup with codeine and I took it. Started thinking the same way you stated above and It led to a few weekends of pill popping .. I am not blaming the cough syrup but it all started with that codeine.. the negative thinking, addict thinking.. etc.. Happily back on the wagon now - but I just thought I would give some caution. You seem fine though..

So from my understanding the cough syrup that you take has codeine in it? That is most likely the culprit causing the abuse of it. Codeine is a narcotic. A lot of the withdrawal symptoms will mimic withdrawal from opiates. Can you tell me a lil more about what is going on?
