Avatar n tn But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose. How much is too much Guaifenesin?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever gotten guaifenesin with codeine prescribe. Want to know feed back on it I'm 12+4 days. Help please trying to get rid of this plhuem I had still. But kinda un sure.
Avatar n tn drink plenty of fluids, if you feel worse go to the doc I just got over it and they gave me Azithromycin and codeine cough med..
1047147 tn?1328906154 It is used on the fertility boards and newsgroups in the same manner as saying Band-Aid for an adhesive strip used to cover a cut. Any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient is fine to use. What kind of Robitussin is used to improve cervical mucus? One should buy the plain kind with no letters after it. The only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon.
1409510 tn?1281653984 Hi. I have been taking fiorinal w codeine nearly every day now for the past year. Some days ill have one, some days Ill have up to 4. The past week I have been taking up to about 4 a day due to family stress. my husband and I both suffer from migraines and have been prescribed ea fiorinal by our doc. I want to stop taking it, i would like to start preparing to have a baby and need to get healthy. I am very healthy apart from the drug. I was wondering is it safe for me to go cold turkey?
Avatar n tn For over 20 years I have taken fiorinal w/ codeine or fioricet w/ codeine. While tapering off years ago I had seizures and was hospitalized. I now take 30-40 caps a month, but really feel the need for more to function. I was prescribed originally for extreme migraines, then began using for my anxiety disorder. How do I get off this drug, and CAN I after all these years?
Avatar f tn Allergy testing in children is not terribly reliable, my son's doctor says. She says they can come up as sensitive to something that in real life they don't actually react to, and not show as sensitive to something that the parents know from observation that they are allergic to. She says it is better to just observe carefully, and test by experimenting with one food at a time.
Avatar f tn Has anybody have taken promethazine w/codeine syrup and have had a baby with phisical or brain problems or autism or any other problem?
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
Avatar n tn The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.
Avatar f tn I do know you only need the plain kind, nothing else should be in it just guaifenesin. If you get the one with that is mixed it can have the opposite reaction. Also you need to drink plenty of water!! YOu have to do this in order for it to work. I just started taking clomid and i read to start the guaifenesin on day 10 till ovulation. On a website for fertility i read that you need to take 200mg three times a day!
Avatar m tn I see this time and time again on this forum. People thinking there has to be a pill to get them through the w/d period. I was one of them people thinking that too. But there just isn't,almost any pill that will take your w/d's away WILL cause new w/d's when you quit that one. It's a never ending circle. The only successful pill to quit drugs is NO pill at all. We ALL have to w/d at some point in time to get clean.
Avatar n tn Tylenol-Codeine No.3 is W A Y weaker than Oxycodone. And would be MUCH easier to come off of.
1958049 tn?1325094006 It helps loosen mucus congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth. The combination of codeine and guaifenesin is used to treat cough and to reduce chest congestion caused by upper respiratory infections or the common cold.
Avatar f tn Veronika, welcome and congrats on your pregnancy. I'm gonna give it to you straight though: that is not a "small" addiction. Actually, there in no such thing. Get honest w/ yourself, and get honest w/ your doctor. Do not change ANYTHING until you see your doctor. The baby feels whatever you do, so that means detox, which could lead to dire consequences. Make an appt w/ your obgyn and be 100% honest. Take your ego out of it, it's for your baby.
Avatar n tn yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
Avatar n tn i would also recommend discussing with the doctor slowly switching from fiorinal with codeine to fiorinal without codeine......say for example she's taking 10 per day, well one day replace one with fiorinal plain and the next day replace 2 doses with the plain and so on. usually codeine doesn't need a taper, but i think it might be better if she has a history of seizures.
Avatar n tn Heroin is way way stronger than codiene,so the withdrawls may be similar (flu like symptoms, insomnia, rls, anxiety) but the heroin w/d will be way worse, with even longer mental withdrawls. Codiene w/d will be quite uncomfortable as well. It's a drug that also alters your brain,so if you've been on it for months it could take a few weeks to start feeling a clear head. If you've been on it for years then it could take up to months for your brain to heal.
Avatar f tn So the dic put me on Symbicort inhaler 2 x a day for a month to start and a 15-day course of tapering Prednisone along with some cough syrup (guaifenesin and a little codeine) but only about three days worth of the syrup. None of it is really suppressing this cough. First couple of days I had a slight amount of blood in the urine from the prednisone. I guess I was dehydrated...and I do take a diuretic daily.
Avatar f tn As i have been suffering from acute flu and headaches due to codeine w/ds yesterday i was prescribed vasograin by doc. Today he gave me dextromethorphan and ephidreine hydrochloride tabs for flu. Since doc knows nothing about my addiction or detox progrram kindly tell me do dextromethorphan hdrochloride and ephidreine tabs also have addiction.
Avatar f tn The historical use is more of a problem than the codeine - the codeine is one of the easiest narc's to w/d from and one of the harder to acquire a strong habit for - this is compared to oxy's, heroin, methadone and the whole list......its still no fun....but it is one of the easier to quit - taper as far as possible as circumstances permit...then treat it just as any other w/d (Thomas Recipe, Amino Acid Protocol) and it can be resolved.
Avatar f tn r u still taking tylenol 3? if so them id say thats why u havent had any w/d symtoms from the codeine.....t3's have codeine in them too so ur still getting ur drug......have u been takling the t3's a long time or?
Avatar n tn hi, I have had problems with codeine as well and thrugh my own experience I can tell you that the w/d's aren't that bad at all. Effects differ from person to person but for me, even when I was taking very doses of more than a 1000 mg a day, the hard w/ds only lasted for around single day and within 48 hours, I was quite well. It's mostly mental, high anxiety, goose bumps, chills are what you can expect at the end of the 1st day.
Avatar f tn I have a 12 year codeine habit which resulted in me taking up to 600mg codeine phosphate up until yesterday (started after dental treatment). I feel a little woolly headed but absolutely terrified of what is to come on days 2 & 3. I know i have to keep the end goal in sight, a better me that's clean of codeine. I have cut all supplies , notified the online pharmacies i use and my doctor, I want to make sure as i can that i can't get my hands on this evil substance again.
Avatar m tn jerks and tremors and anxiety and restless legs all are symptoms of barbiturate withdrawal and the others you describe tend to be more opiate...but all symptoms could be either drug. this is the bad part of w/d from butalbital/codeine compounds....you get hit twice and you really never know what ur gonna get. you really should ask your doctor how long it will last, but i would guess the physical symptoms wouldn't last much longer than they usually do with opiate withdrawal.
