Guaifenesin and benadryl

Common Questions and Answers about Guaifenesin and benadryl

Avatar n tn But since the ENT said this might be allergies I took a Benadryl last night and I swear it made me feel better. Between that and the humidifier in the bedroom I'm already starting to improve. It's kind of irritating that it took 3 doctors to even suggest allergies but better late than never I guess.
4916735 tn?1360990197 I am a hypothyroid patient and I have a cold with sore throat, coughing and congestion. What medicines over the counter can I take?
Avatar f tn Take tylonal cold/flu and vitamin c, and drink Orange juice and get as much sleep as you can. That's what my doctor said bc im 38 weeks and had a cold for a week. I don't know if robitussun is to good for you while your pregnant.

Avatar n tn What doctor thinks saline solution needs a script?! He also suggested Mucinex (guaifenesin) which I took today and which helped drainage but only for a couple of hours. My GP insisted it wasn't time for an ENT. Very frustrating. He seemed to think this wasn't the same problem I've been having since May, like he thought I just had several small sinus infections and not one eight-month-long illness.
Avatar f tn Saturday i went to the doctor because i woke up and it hurt to swallow and talk the doctor gave me azithromycin and guaifenesin. i took the first 2 pills of the azithromycin and i was fine the next day i took the next one and later that day i got really itchy. well i stopped taking them and started taking benadryl cause i figured i got an allergic reaction to it.
Avatar f tn The list that my doctor gave me that is approved Pain/fever- Tylenol (Acetaminophen) Cough/Cold-Robitussin (long acting gel or syrup) (Dextromethorphan) Sudafed (plain) (pseudoephedrine) Plain cough drops Saline drops (ocean nasal spray) Vick's vapor rub Mucinex (Guaifenesin) Allergies- Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) Claritin (Loratadine) Zyrtec (Centrizine) Diarrhea- Immodium AD And there are more things if you are interested for cold sores, heartburn, hemorrhoids, constipation, sleep aid, y
Avatar f tn The other source is the combination of drugs commonly used in over-the-counter cough suppression medicines - Dextromethorphan and Guaifenesin. Not doubt, itching is also the side-effect of other medicines.
1102149 tn?1259696562 My doctor told me that with both of her pregnancies, she was sick and taking Robitussin and that's when she got pregnant. Anyway, I intentionally took it with my 2 year old and got pregnant the first month I tried. But this time, I was genuinely sick and had horrible post-nasal drip with crazy thick mucus, so that's why I took it. And dontcha did it again. So, certainly anything with Guafenisen works.
Avatar n tn At first I though this was a reaction to the cough syrap and mucus relief but it has been so long since I stoped taking it and I am still taking Benadryl and do see some benefit from doing so. Nothing else in my life has changed as far as food, detergents, cleaning supplies, sleep wear, clothes, and so on. I am allergic to Penecillin and do get a similar rash when taking it, but also experience a feminine rash with penecillin.
Avatar n tn He suggested I take a combination of Guaifenesin, Pseudoephedrine and Benadryl, especially before bedtime. The smothering went away. But, I still can't seem to ever clear the mucus off of my broncials. When it is productive, it is only a piece of phelgm about the size of a BB. The phelgm is usually very rigid and has a greenish yellow color. I have taken Zithromax and Omni-Cef more than once during this period, but still produce the same phelgm.
1399033 tn?1449591379 The cigarette smoke I noticed would get around my face and start burning my throat or making it a little itchy. I was around it for a few hours and couldn't take it anymore and went to a different room. There were also people over for dinner/visiting as well..... We left and started talking to DF's mom and she's a smoker. Along with his dad and brother.. But it was just his mom up last night. Well were sitting at the table talking and she lights a cigarette. I thought oh no here we go again.
Avatar n tn For a cough, you may take cough medicines with dextromethorphan (dex-tro-meth-ORfan) and guaifenesin (gwy-FEN-ih-sin), like Robitussin DM, as directed. For seasonal allergies or hay fever, which may include watery eyes and a runny nose, you may take Benadryl (25mg to 50 mg), every 6 hours as needed. Use caution when taking Benadryl. It may make you drowsy. For heartburn or indigestion, try taking an antacid such as Tums, Rolaids, Maalox, or Mylanta as directed.
Avatar f tn lol, see how that worked for me. (I actually was taking Benadryl at the time and that **** dries you out)...
82861 tn?1333457511 Sara, I know EXACTLY what you mean about the husband being home officed. I lived with that for 5 years and it's not easy. DH and I were never the type to be together 24/7, and the home office adventure proved it. It's 100 times worse since he's been unemployed and ineffectually roaming the house. So much for the old Type A personality. Apparently it only applies to work - forget about cleaning and home maintenance. GRRRR!!! Just got back from the vet and the dogs will be fine.
Avatar n tn CURRENT PROBLEM While the new dog was at the vet, our other three dogs developed the same upper resp. symptoms. We started them all on antibiotics and guaifenesin/dexamethorphan. The vet said that the antibiotics are in case of secondary bacterial infection. The 77-lb dog also gets Rimadyl for a sprained elbow, which coincidentally occurred at the same time as the upper resp. symptoms.
429155 tn?1205676864 I went to my GP complaning of no sense of smell, saw a surgeon and surgery was recomended, I was given a prescription for Prednisone, a steroid, this gave me some sense of smell, and here's the but, I had the operation and still could not smell, so more Prednisone, well the upshot is that the steroids have caused my Osteo-Necrosis, this is when the heads of the long bones die, so have now had core decompression on one hip and the other totally replaced. Oxycontin.
Avatar f tn Sometimes I can grab it and drag it out from the back of my throat .. thick and stringy .. and could almost tie it in a knot . Gross eh :-( Ive tried steam inhalation .. gargling .. drinking loads of water . . and still its the same . Had this problem about three years now . Is there anybody out there that help me please .
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone. This is my first post. I started having problems about 5 years ago. It was occasional problems such as mild sinus pain/pressure and headache with mild eye strain. Each year it has gotten worse. Over the course of the past 5 years I have seen multiple doctors across different specialites: Ears, Nose & Throat, Neurologist, Allergist, and my Intern. I have had MRI's and CT scans. This year has been the worst so far. I have already gotten 2 sinus infections.
Avatar n tn It is time to try an alternative. Start doing the following breathing exercise daily and it will help all your ear problem. - Deep Breath-in through left nostril keeping right nostril closed then - Breath-out through right nostril keeping left nostril closed then -Deep Breath-in through right nostril keeping left nostril closed then - Breath-out through left nostril keeping right nostril closed and repeat this cycle for 15 minutes twice a day.

162948 tn?1205256292 I got my IUD out on Aug 5th and am ttc. I have had lots of spotting and maybe a period but nothing regular. I called my doc and they said that it takes 3 months before the hormones are out of your system. The mirena website makes it sound as though you can get pregnant anytime after removal. Any advice/stories would be appreciated. Thanks.
280700 tn?1210287416 it doesn't increase your chances of m/c. My friend took it and she is 20 weeks preg...her friend took it and is also 20 weeks preg. I also know another woman who took it and has a 7 year old. There are good stories out their don't worry.
961574 tn?1520651703 I know many of us (me included) are afraid to put ourselves out there this early, afraid that something might go wrong, but I have known so many of you for you long, that I just couldn't wait any longer to start sharing experiences with you. I have never been this far along in a pregnancy, and am so sure I am going to have tons of questions. I am expecting twins, and am still in shock!
