3062924 tn?1350414109 I have 2 boys and I also was a carrier for group b strep, not a big deal, while your in labour they'll hook pen g into your IV so it will have no affect on your baby :)
8436178 tn?1399051988 Just found out I hav group b strep. Anyone else who's had it? How did it affect u nd ur baby? I read that it can cause stillbirth if severe. How do u know if u hav a severe case or not? How likely is it for ur baby to get sick from it if treated with antibiotics through an iv during labor? Plz help!!!
Avatar f tn I had one daughter at 37 weeks and one on her due date with group b strep. My dr never told me it caused early labor and I've never had a bladder infection or a uti in my life. The antibiotics aren't going to do anything really. Its a bacteria that lives in you and is completely harmless to us.
Avatar f tn I am also positive and it just means what dani said, it can cause an infection during birth so they give you antibiotics during labor. The chances of infection are so remote though so there are absolutely no worries!
Avatar f tn At 37 weeks,I tested positive for Group B Strep. Is my baby going to be okay?
11061831 tn?1418754137 if tested and came out positive what does it mean? could it affect the baby?
Avatar f tn I found out today that I am positive. my doctor told me it's nothing to worry about that they will just treat me with antibiotics during labor but I'm reading stuff on google that's worrying me. has anyone had this before? was baby okay?
Avatar f tn And how did I get this. I'm so scared I'm 36 weeks and 2 days. Is it too late to cure it!!!
Avatar f tn You will get antibiotics during labor so that the baby is protected and doesn't come in contact with it. Group beta strep can cause respiratory infections like pneumonia.
7249862 tn?1392252689 So I found out Wednesday that I have group B strep and will need antibiotics during labor but I forgot to ask my doctor if I can still do my early laboring at home or if I will need to go to the hospital as soon as I start having contractions. Have any of you already moms had this and what did your doctor tell you to do?
Avatar f tn Has anybody tested positive for group b strep? My dr proscribed me antibiotics of its weird form of it....is that bad?
Avatar f tn I'm 36 weeks today and found out I have group B strep. Any other mommies have it? Guess I'm just looking to put my nerves about it to rest.
234013 tn?1231110193 At my last appt. Dr. said I tested positive for Group B Strep. I did not have this during my first pregnancy. Dr is not concerned. Just will need antibiotics during delivery. Wondering if anyone else has tested postive for this???
6991914 tn?1405466946 I have had it with both previous pregnancies, the first pregnancy I got the antibiotic, the second the baby came so fast that I barely made it to the hospital to have the baby and didn't have the antibiotic, with this one I asked my midwife about giving me an oral antibiotic while I'm pregnant so I will test negative and not worry if I make it in time to be given the med at the hospital...
Avatar f tn If you test positive for it doctors will just prescribe intravenous (IV) antibiotics during labor and delivery to prevent transmission to your baby
Avatar f tn So my last appointment I found out I was a carrier of group b strep:/ and I am kinda worried I'm allergic to antibiotics and worried the medications she wants to give me while in delivery won't work as good or the same as a antibiotic. Its bad enough I'm a germ freak and made my family and bfs family get the tdap shot now this!? Anyone else have to deal with group b strep?
Avatar n tn Has any moms on here tested positive for group B strep im on my second pregnancy and just found out i tested positive my first pregnancy i did not im really worried for my baby has any one deliverd a healthy baby im so worried reading all the complications
Avatar f tn Does anybody else have this ? Or have been treated for it in the past. I'm due in just over two weeks and can't stop panicking about it. I know you need antibiotics during labor to prevent the baby getting infected. But then I read about late onset group strep b.. Which the baby can get up until 3 months old, which can cause meningitis, but you can't prevent it?? Does anybody know about this ?
1950374 tn?1332384136 From what I have heard it gets passed to baby during birth. So if you are on antibiotics during labor not only you will get those but baby too. So baby will get the necessary protection before he encounters the problem. And the antibiotics will weaken it before baby hits it. You shouldn't have to worry about it much. :) even if baby arrived before you got the iv they would give him antibiotics which would kill it. It's only dangerous if left untreated I believe.
Avatar f tn Its only a problem if it infects the baby during birth, but they will give you IV antibiotics during labor so the chances of that happening are very very low. You didn't do anything wrong, don't feel bad!
Avatar f tn I had it with my first pregnancy, they will give you antibiotics at hospital when you go into labor
2137220 tn?1340741325 I don't know how safe it is to deliver a baby w/o the antibiotics needed. When I read up on it 10 years ago with my 1st pregnancy, cuz I had it that time, it didn't sound very promising delivering w/o them. I would just make sure that you went up to l&d as soon as you thought you were in labor & call them on the way letting them know how fast your last labor was & that you have group b & they will hook you up with the antibiotics asap!
11361691 tn?1433948582 My older sister tested positive, but I'm negative, and when I talked with her about it said it's no big deal. Just like the gal above stated you just get an IV once you go into labor.
