Avatar f tn Has anyone received radiation for Graves Disease? Not the pill type, the x-Ray radiation type.
Avatar f tn So I had an X-ray that showed calcium deposits in thyroid. Have long family history with thyroid problems and hashimotos disease. I also have many thyroid problem symptoms: hair loss, a lot of weight loss, anxiety, flushing of face, pain and trouble swallowing, etc. TSH bloodwork came back normal. I had an ultrasound done and it said everything looked normal but they want to do a CT to be sure. Is there something they could be missing? Should I ask for certain tests?
Avatar f tn Do you you have Hashimoto's or Graves Disease? Are you taking a thyroid medication of any type? Nodules sometimes shrink with treatment of hypothyroidism, if that's what you have... it may not get bigger. You and your doctor must decide the best course, of action; we can't tell you what to do. What has your doctor recommended?

Avatar f tn I have a very large 'nodule' on my sternum. I also have a previously diagnosed (in 2011) thyroid nodule. I was originally diagnosed and treated for Graves' disease in 2011 and quit treatment (due to being broke) in 2013. A couple of months ago, I noticed that my sternum felt uneven... One side was way taller and lumpier than the other. It is not visible though.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism & Graves disease 5 years ago, but am currently not treated for it. I had a large nodule biopsied 3 years ago (it had been growing) and it came back normal. My levels have not been terrible for the past few years, so there was no reason to treat. I am now having a medical issue that started 5/1/2012 with a very sudden onset, but my endocrinologist does not think it's related.

Avatar n tn I-123 is a type of x-ray study that helps determine the cause of an over-active thyroid. An over-active nodule is a lump in the thyroid that makes excessive thyroid hormone.
Avatar n tn I am a young woman recently diagnosed with hyperthyoidism, likely Graves' disease. This disorder has probably been going on for 3-4 years as I have had tremor for that long & I have goiter. I have had resting tachycardia with arrythmia for at least 6 months, and at the same time I developed an intermittent heavy feeling in my chest (at the sternum, and slightly to the right). I was put on propranolol 100mg due to the tachycardia, at which time the chest feeling became constant.
Avatar f tn Sure enough, it came back positive at 153%. Endo confirmed it was Euthyroid Graves Disease. I made an appt with an opthamologist who said I have no evidence of any eye disease at this time. I should also mention I was dx with insulin resistance a month ago. My questions are :1. Isn't it unusual to have neg TPO and TG in Graves? 2. Should I be worried that the lymph node present did not have well defined hilum-- how like is this cancer? 3.
Avatar f tn I have a dental appointment tomorrow and I know they may try to give me an x-ray. I'm 16 weeks now and this is my first pregnancy. I went to the dentist earlier this year and they didn't want to do an x-ray because I was in my 1st trimester. Is it really safe to have one done now?
Avatar n tn I have a daughter who doesn't live with me and she has lice will it show up in an x-ray

Avatar f tn 2 x 1 x 1 cm, previously 3.5 x 1.2 x 1.3 cm. The left lobe measures 3.3 x 1.1 x 1.3 cm, previously 3.6 x 1 x 1.4 cm. The isthmus measures 0.3 cm. The gland shows normal to decreased color Doppler flow.
Avatar f tn You have hyperthyroidism. Most commonly this would be Graves' disease. The ultrasound did not show a nodule that would be "hot". The vascularity on the ultrasound was unremarkable, typically in thyroiditis this is a low. Classically in Graves' disease it is high but this does not exclude Graves' disease. The antibody you've had have been negative but these are nonspecific for Graves' disease.
Avatar f tn Put on 10 mg x 3 of Methimazole, and 20 mg Propanol x 4. Since being on medication I have put on about 15 pounds, have a bloated belly, had jaw and tooth pain for the first couple of weeks on the meds, severe leg cramps, muscle pain in my shoulders, abnormally heavy periods (more frequent), and have been on edge and agitated to the point of driving away my family and boyfriend. On New Year's Day I stopped taking my meds and on Jan 6th woke up feeling like a million bucks!
Avatar f tn Hi I have graves disease and in the last 2 months I have been losing mass amounts of hair. Why all the sudden am I losing my hair?
Avatar f tn I received a letter from the Emergency Department a week after being treated for a fall. The letter stated that "Your chest x-ray obtained in the Emergency Department on May 24, 2012 revealed a nonspecific density projecting over the trachea on the lateral view of the chest. Although these occasionally are significant, it is most likely benign, and only requires a repeat x-ray and follow up exam.
