Avatar f tn Here are some the common symptoms of a Hyperthyroid condition (I am no expert just a fellow person with a Hyperthyroid condition) You may only have a temporary overactive thyroid condition and actually not have thyroid disease hard to tell with out more data.
Avatar f tn Hi, My partner of 4 years was diagnosed with graves with an overactive thyroid about 2 years ago.He also has thyroid eye disease and iritis.About 6 years ago after trying for a baby for 1 year he had a sperm count test and was told there was a very slim chance he could conceive. He had another sperm count test done just after he was diagnosed with graves disease and took the results to his new GP and was told there was activity but it was very low.
Avatar f tn losing weight, itchy skin, heat sensitivity, heart palpitations, insomnia, light mentstrual cycle, Raynauds (numbness and tingling), plus it feels like I have a lump in my throat with trouble swallowing. The one symptom that has my doctor stumped is that I seem to be sensitive to a lot of foods now. My doctor doubts it's food allergies.
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes with Hashi it is a blood test to see if you have any Antibodies attacking the thyroid gland, some say the definitive test for Hasi is also a biopsy of the gland. My doctors just went by bloods and a scan to see how it was looking..With graves im not sure but someone on here will help you with that.Graves to my knowledge is an overactive gland?
Avatar f tn my sister has hd graves disease for about a year she does not take med. right she has not gotten blood work for about four months she just keeps taking med because she has refills she is getting really crazy she thinks people are trying to kill her coul this be from graves disease This discussion is related to TSH Levels at 3.75.
Avatar n tn Those symptoms sound like hyperthyroid symptoms, consistent with having a low TSH level. That could be a result of Graves' Disease, which is an autoimmune disease where the thyroid is overactive, producing an excessive amount of thyroid hormones. The definitive test for Graves' is the TSI test, so be sure they test for that.
Avatar f tn I do not know my levels of TSH but was told my thyroid is 4 to 5 times overactive and my thyroid is approximately 2 times the size it should be. Is the dose of radioactive iodine based on how overactive the thyroid is?
Avatar f tn "In conditions of chronic urticaria, thyroid antibodies are not only indicators of chronic inflammation, but they appear to play a role in the disease process. In most cases, improvement of urticaria with thyroxine replacement hormone suggests that chronic thyroid inflammation may initiate a hypersensitivity reaction and an underlying thyroid hormone deficiency. However, rarely, patients with chronic urticaria have undiagnosed conditions of Graves' disease.
Avatar f tn My MD said in March my blood tests for the Thyroid were normal. Now in April Endo says very hyper she thinks Graves, all symptoms you can think of. Is this possible? Also I have MSK and must have stones removed often from ureters, now on Thyroxine & Inderal....will this disease or meds. affect a emergency surgery???
877337 tn?1249844450 What are the early stages of Graves disease? Do my symptoms sound similar to yours in the beginning? Thanks for the reply!
1039061 tn?1257878294 No I haven't gotten the last tests yet. Endo said not til January. I have been thinking about taking the order to my PCP and seeing if she will order the tests so that I can find out for sure. What is your opinion?
Avatar n tn TED is found in persons with Hypothyroidism, Hashi, Hyperthyroidism, Graves', persons taking Armour, and in people with no other evidence of thyroid dysfunction, and, is more severe in people who smoke. For that reason, the preferred name is now Thyroid-Associated Ophthalmopathy (TAO), or Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) rather than Graves' Ophthalmopathy (eye disease).
Avatar f tn s safe to assume she had an overactive thyroid or graves, most likely graves. This means that there is a genetic component you may have inherited your moms genes. Before my dx of graves, my TSH was the same as yours. When the TSH is slightly low, and the T3&t4 are normal, you are considered ''subclinically hyperthyroid''. Meaning it's just a matter of time before you become hyperthyroid. I became hyper 2 yrs later and had a mild thyroid storm.
Avatar m tn Yeah sounds like she could indeed have a thyroid disease. Graves disease in particular starts off overactive, and symptoms are usually ignored or not noticed...for me it was impossible to gain weight, I had way too much energy and difficulty sleeping. When the thyroid gets overworked though the opposite happens and you become underactive, very quick weight gain and extreme tiredness.
Avatar f tn Some of it does sound thyroid related. However, as you know, it can be tough to pinpoint the cause of symptoms, especailly in growing children. Diarrhea, hand tremors, inability to gain weight, intolerance to heat (feeling hot when others don't) are all symptoms usually associated with hyper. On the other hand, insomnia is usually associated with hyper...Molly's sleep pattern sounds almost more hypo. Fatigue is typical of both.
Avatar f tn Symptoms include insomnia, diarrhea, weight loss, anxiety, elevated heart rate and blood pressure, mentstrual disturbances, etc. If you google "hyperthyroid symptoms", you can take a look at the long list. You should get into the habit of asking for a printed copy of all your blood work and keeping your own history. You have to educate yourself and be your own advocate. Your doctor should order a TSI test.
Avatar f tn There are antibody tests to determine Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves Disease For Hash's TPO and Tgab For Graves TPI Best Regards FTB4
Avatar m tn You may have thyroiditis but you may also have Graves Disease where the antibodies attack the thyroid (hence the high levels causing Hyperthyroidism). High FT3, FT4 = Hyperthyroidism Low FT3, FT4 = Hypothyroidism. I also agree with Barb.....can you post the ranges here and were they FREE T3 and FREE T4? And what was your TSH?
Avatar f tn The antibodies are high - could be a combo of graves and a nodule that is overactive (this combo is called Marine-Lenhart syndrome). I often don't fully trust the nuclear scans in this setting, so if not clearly a hot nodule that is suppressing uptake in rest of gland (which this appears not to) would do FNA biopsy.. Also test TSI and TBII which are more specific antibodies for Graves. Your thyroid levels clearly indicate hyperthyroidism.
Avatar n tn Those symptoms would seem to fit best with hyperthyroidism. That can be caused by several things, including Graves' disease, and also nodules on the thyroid gland causing thyroid hormone to leak faster than normal. Stress can also bring on some unexpected effects. I think you should go and get tested for the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4 (not the same as Total T3 and T4), along with TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone).
Avatar n tn Graves disease is a form of an autoimmune hyperthyroidism. But your sister-in-law can show both TSI autoimmune antibodies and a high TSH which would classify her as having a primary and a secondary thyroid condition. ANy thyroid condition left untreated for any period of time - (and the worse it is) can mock mental health problems. Many patients complain of symptoms like mood disorders - anxiety and depression.
Avatar n tn Prior to this doctor they were treating me for depression/aniety, turned out I had hyperthyroidism/graves disease. Had a TT done, and all the symptoms went away....
1428646 tn?1330978063 I have graves disease, and i am experiencing MS symptoms. I was told by my Endocrinologist that it is very possible to get two autoimmune diseases. I would love to chat more on this if anyone is still interested.
Avatar f tn My TSH measured under 0.05 mU/L (not sure my lab can measure lower that that) and my free T4 was 25 pmol/L. This was during a hyperthyroid flare up (i have Hashimoto's thyroiditis). I have autoimmune pernicious anaemia (i have both positive intrinsic factor and parietal cell antibodies). I take 2000mcg daily of sublingual B12 spray. Positive parietal cell antibodies is diagnostic of chronic autoimmune gastritis whether or not this is due to pernicious anaemia (i.e.
