Avatar f tn Similarly, sarcoidosis of the thyroid gland may develop in response to an established thyroid disorder including Gravesdisease, nodular goiter, and thyroid cancer. Patients with Gravesdisease may also have concomitant conditions of sarcoidosis affecting the lungs. Patients with systemic sarcoidosis may also develop sarcoid lesions in various organs including the thyroid gland.
Avatar n tn If you don't mind. I see you posts starts out as Graves Disease and you are looking for a surgeon? While I would have to do some checking around on this can you post the reason for the removal? - Is it for Graves disease?
Avatar f tn 339-50.
Avatar m tn i have been diagnosed with graves disease recently, and did a lot of reasearch on it, and found out with this illnnes i lost lot of muscle mass. my question is that can i exercise and reverse the muscle damage? or is this illness responsive to exercise?
Avatar f tn what is the difference between Graves Disease and Hyper thyroid? I have been diagnosed with Graves Disease, I am scheduled for surgery but wonder if the leave half or part of the smallest side of the my gland, will that cure it, or will I be at risk of having to get yet another surgery?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease 11 years ago. My endo prescribed Methimazole, which I was allergic to, so he told me he didn't want to prescribe me anything else because sometimes the allergy kills the thyroid. It apparently did, because all of a sudden I was hypo and I had to go on synthroid. Since then, I lost my health insurance and got handled by my PCP instead of the endo (cheaper).
Avatar f tn It means your thyroid gland..umm lobe lol hates you. Dr Lupo mentions this on one of his medhelp answers... "About 1 in 2000 people are born with only one thyroid lobe --- and usually it's the left that is missing. It does not usually alter thyroid function." Who needs a left lobe anyway eh? Your right thyroid lobe is not amused as it's doing all the work. :) A normal sized thyroid lobe is about 7 to 11 cc (I believe that is equivalent to ml) per lobe.
Avatar f tn In conclusion, our findings indicate that because of low sensitivity of sonography, differentiation between Graves’ disease and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is not possible but due to high specificity it can differentiate normal thyroid from Gravesdisease or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. It is suggested that if thyroiditis or Graves’ disease is defined by sonography, it should be further confirmed by clinical and laboratory with laboratory data. " https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
199177 tn?1490498534 My husband was diagnosed with graves disease this last week .He sees the endocrinologist Monday is there anybody that can help me understand this and are the partiular questions he needs to be asking the doctor .
Avatar n tn My question is if you know of any interaction between TB drug and thyroid function? and if my thyroid disease is a result of such interaction would this condition pass?
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with Graves disease but my TSI levels seem to be in the normal range. I don't show any physical signs of graves but my TSH and anti-thyroglobulin are out of whack. I started taking 10 mg of methimazole right around the beginning of April 2011 which seem to have brought my TSH level back to normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is my blood work history: 11/11/2010 ======== TSH - 1.49 T4 - 9.0 T3 Uptake - 34.0 Free T4 - 1.35 Free T4 Index - 3.
Avatar n tn Yes, it is possible to have "normal" TSH and still have abnormal thyroid function. TSH is a very poor indicator of thyroid function. If I were you, I'd definitely have FT3 and FT4 and antibodies tested.
1918828 tn?1328123158 Someone asked this same question on Elaine Moore's website. Elaine Moore is a medical writer and clinical laboratory scientist, MT, CLS, with more than 30 years of experience in immunology. A good person to ask on immune issues! This is from her website: TSI Test Results Hi, I have been having a lot of hyperthyroid problems lately and just got some TSI test results back that I'm a little confused about. I have a result of 74 with a reference range of 0-139.
Avatar f tn High Antibodies is an indication of Auto-Immune disease ie Graves or Hashimoto's, also the fact that nodules exist. You should insist your MD do a Free T3 test, which should determine your thyroid situation, since Free T3 is the actual thyroid hormone your body needs to function, and along with the Free T4 will tell the story. The TSH is a pituitary hormone and not a Thyroid hormone. Why would you be forced to wait a year to see an Endo?
Avatar n tn iam apatient who suffers graves disease. My question is : Although I am almost 4 months on Carbamizole treatment 60 mg + Taking inderal ( propanalol), but the levels of my T4 & T3 are still high and the levels of TSH is less than 0.01. what do you think , should i sstop the medication and think of the other allternatives like the radioactive iodine or surgical removal?
Avatar f tn Some of it does sound thyroid related. However, as you know, it can be tough to pinpoint the cause of symptoms, especailly in growing children. Diarrhea, hand tremors, inability to gain weight, intolerance to heat (feeling hot when others don't) are all symptoms usually associated with hyper. On the other hand, insomnia is usually associated with hyper...Molly's sleep pattern sounds almost more hypo. Fatigue is typical of both.
Avatar n tn Oh wow!!!! You really said you'd "rather deal with hyper thyroid than no thyroid'?!? I have hashi's AND graves' and there comes a point when you are so sick and tired of hearing "lets just wait and see" from the doctors...These disorders ROB you of a normal life and "dealing" with them for some of us is not an option....
7726696 tn?1393688452 Usually but not always thyroid stimulating antibodies are high with Graves disease but not always. A thyroid ultrasound exam is helpful as well. If the doctor suspects a hot nodule he may order a radioactive iodine uptake test.
Avatar m tn The younger one, 30, went into thyroid storm, had to have part of the thyroid removed, and has hyperthyroidism. The older one, 34, went into thyroid storm, and was diagnosed with graves disease while in the hospital. After hearing what their symptoms were, they sounded familiar to some of the stuff I've been expierencing too. I went to the doctor to get my thyroid levels tested. He said they were normal and it all looks good. The tests he did and the results are --- t3 uptake 1.
