Avatar f tn Graves Disease is never cured BUT it is managed better without a thyroid or after RAI. You still have the antibodies but no thyroid for it to attack. As for meds, you swap one lot for another. You go from anti-thyroid meds to a T4 medication so basically you are on meds for life. The thyroid regulates every organ in your body and if no thyroid, meds have to do the job. Hyperthyroidism is a lot easier to manage without a thyroid.
Avatar n tn what are the normal range levels for t4 test and tsh ? also can premin make a false reading ?
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm 36 and I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. I have Graves' disease and had radiation treatment back in 2009. I hadn't been taking my thyroxine constantly for a few months as I was super stressed and now that I am pregnant haven't missed a dose. My thyroid levels are still very high and I'm worried that this will affect my baby's brain development/IQ levels. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm scared and worried.
Avatar n tn Definitely, get a second opinion! Your thyroid can make you feel terrible even when you are within range. I had Grave's for years, but was told "let's see what your thyroid levels are in 6 months". When my levels were normal, I had all of the symptoms, but was told "oh, it's probably just anxiety". Unfortunately, I listened to my doctor and took medications that I didn't need to take.
Avatar f tn I developed Graves Disease about five years ago, have been on tablets, gotten back to normal levels, regressed, been on tablets and now am supposedly back to normal levels. Suddenly for no apparent reason I have developed Allergies and Gastroparesis and a little Eczema. I have heard that Gastroparesis can be linked to Hypothyroidism, but I'm wondering if it could be related to Graves Disease? Thank you!
Avatar n tn I had the same thing, but I was tested for pituitary disease, and it came back negative. They are treating me for Graves Disease even though my T4 is not high. I must admit I am feeling much better. Hope you get a solution soon!
Avatar f tn He advises symptoms are not Graves disease as my levels are now in normal range. I am fortunate that I have a caring family doctor that is persistent. I have seen a neurologist and next having ultrasound and seeing a internist. Couple of facts. Initially in July when diagnosed I had slight tremors once on thyroid med/tapolzole the shaking got worst and I ended up in the hospital. The endocrinologist said it was Graves/my symptoms.
Avatar n tn The levels are normal, there is no evidence of thyroid disease at this point -- the TSI is normal - does not look like Graves.
Avatar n tn iam apatient who suffers graves disease. My question is : Although I am almost 4 months on Carbamizole treatment 60 mg + Taking inderal ( propanalol), but the levels of my T4 & T3 are still high and the levels of TSH is less than 0.01. what do you think , should i sstop the medication and think of the other allternatives like the radioactive iodine or surgical removal?
Avatar f tn hi i'm a 28 yr old woman and have suffered badly with symptoms from graves disease for 3yrs i've been on propylthiouracil for a year now as i had a severe allergic reaction to carbimazole! my symptoms include insomnia, severe fatigue, anxiety, bouts of depression, poor concentration, memory loss, bruising easily, dizziness, nausea and graves rage and weakened immune system (sick often). the problem is that i've recently had a blood test that read normal at 5.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, all of the tests your doctor ordered are obsolete and not very useful, except the TSH and vitamin D. Your TSH is every doctor's dream... You should ask your doctor to test the active thyroid hormones, Free T4 and Free T3. These will tell you exactly what you need to know, along with your symptoms. It would also be helpful if you asked to be tested for thyroid antibodies.
Avatar n tn If you don't mind. I see you posts starts out as Graves Disease and you are looking for a surgeon? While I would have to do some checking around on this can you post the reason for the removal? - Is it for Graves disease?
Avatar f tn Did I develop neutropenia from the Graves disease and how do I stop the neutropenia from getting worse? Also, what are some things that I should avoid as a result of my neutropenia? In addition, my heart rate ranges from 120-140 and I feel very tired and confused. Are these feelings a result of my heart rate? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn "yes im on the thyroxine and carbimazole together, yeah i thought that was why i was on the meds and that they were normal meant they were working". You're right, the fact that your levels are normal, means the meds are working and taking you off the, will simply send you back to hyperland, if you truly have Graves Disease. Remember, just because your levels fall within the "normal" ranges, doesn't mean that's normal for you...................
877337 tn?1249844450 Graves' disease may present clinically with one of the following characteristic signs: * exophthalmos (protuberance of one or both eyes) * a non-pitting edema (pretibial myxedema), with thickening of the skin usually found on the lower extremities * fatigue, weight loss with increased appetite, and other symptoms of hyperthyroidism * rapid heart beats * muscular weakness The two signs that are truly 'diagnostic' of Graves' disease (i.e.
Avatar f tn my sister has hd graves disease for about a year she does not take med. right she has not gotten blood work for about four months she just keeps taking med because she has refills she is getting really crazy she thinks people are trying to kill her coul this be from graves disease This discussion is related to TSH Levels at 3.75.
Avatar f tn It seems odd that it would take two years to diagnose Graves' disease. Also odd that her thyroid levels (did they do a complete thyroid panel or just TSH?) are normal...by definition Graves' is HYPERthyroid so high levels of thyroid hormones should be found (and low TSH) If you feel that she is being misdiagnosed, definitely seek another opinion.
Avatar f tn Similarly, sarcoidosis of the thyroid gland may develop in response to an established thyroid disorder including Gravesdisease, nodular goiter, and thyroid cancer. Patients with Gravesdisease may also have concomitant conditions of sarcoidosis affecting the lungs. Patients with systemic sarcoidosis may also develop sarcoid lesions in various organs including the thyroid gland.
Avatar f tn my son was a newly diagnosed "graves disease" pt. he was given tatazole tablet 5mg. to be taken after breakfast for one month, what are the side effect of tatazole, the things he have to avoid and if you can give me more/additional information about the disease. thanks!
Avatar f tn They put me back on my 10mg Methmazole and within 3 weeks my levels were normal. That is pretty much a health summary of my graves disease for the past five-six years lol. You will see the longer you have Graves Disease the more in tune with your body you become and you can tell if something is not right and you learn more about how to manage it. Also the disease itself becomes more manageable with time.
Avatar f tn My thyroid levels are apparently now normal with my methimazole medication, but they could go down. I just get into weird moods.. really highs and lows. i cry alot, i hate my body, the way i look sometimes, im always hungry and i constantly change my mind. i also have that "i dont care" mentality about lots of things, especially school and my grades have been suffering. Mind you, I am a teenage girl but did anyone experience these things? What can I do?
15915009 tn?1488868338 m 17 and was officially diagnosed with thyroid storm, which was linked to untreated graves disease just over 1 1/2 years ago. It has been misdiagnosed for ADHD around 4-5 years ago. I'm still on antithyroid pills to this day. I'm hoping to get off of them soon, but is it possible to have a relapse later in life after I have not been taken them, if Graves Disease will be with me for the rest of my life and if I need to get my blood checked every so often?
