Avatar f tn My fiance' was diagnosed with Graves Disease late last year. Something we did not expect was him having Aortic Stenosis. Graves Disease causes numerous symptoms so we thought it was the disease causing his heart problems. He just took the treatment for the Graves so it's going to be a month or so before the treatment starts to show some results. He has another test scheduled next week with an Interventional Cardiologist.
Avatar m tn Graves Disease is an autoimmune disease where the Graves Disease antibodies attack the persons thyroid causing hyperthyroidism (levels of FT3, FT4 too high and TSH too low. Left untreated it can be very dangerous. Get your Sister to see an Endocrinologist but in the meantime whilst waiting for an appointment, get her to her local Doctor to start treatment of anti-thyroid medications.
Avatar n tn Can you have graves disease so bad that it would seem like bipolar and I thought Graves disease was an overactive thyroid, so how can you be hypro?
Avatar f tn I am suffering hyperthyroidism since 2013 and took medication on 2015 for about 3 months ago and I stopped. Until now I was untreated. Is there any option or remedy for my disease to go away?
Avatar f tn All your doctor has to do is run a few simple blood tests to confirm or rule out Graves Disease. Yes, it is a big deal to leave it untreated; you could severely damage your health.
1314073 tn?1282841674 I was just diagnosed with Graves Disease. I've been doing reasearch on the Internet and now I am TERRIFIED! Are my eyes going to bulge and my hair fall out? Does this happen to everyone with Graves Disease. I know this sounds vain, but fear is fear and this is all I can think about. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar m tn It should be pointed out that, especially in the US literature, the term ‘hashitoxicosis’ is sometimes used to describe an autoimmune thyroid disease overlap syndrome of Graves’ and Hashimoto’s disease.2 In this article the term is strictly limited to the ‘leakage’ symptoms of active Hashimoto’s disease." *** I've had both Hashi's and Graves antibodies simultaneously but I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis previously.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking PTU to help with my Graves' Disease but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions I could do to help? Changes in lifestyle, dietry changes, vitamin supplements etc? My aunt is a GP and a trained herbologist, she recommended chrysanthemum tea as a way of correcting my metabolism. Maybe we could compile some kind of list of things that help either Hyper or Hypothyroidism? Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn Thyroid Peroxidase AB is a test for antibodies (auto immune antibodies). Graves (hyper) and Hoshimotos disease (hypo) paitients have antibodies attacking the thyroid. The gland essentially goes 'wacko' from damage the antibodies cause. Faster or slower is the result. The antibodies are the cause of the diseases, but why they exist has yet to be determined - when they find out, prevention should be possible.
Avatar f tn M PCP told me i had graves disease and referred me to an endo. The endo said that all of my symptoms "were in my head and nothing was wrong". A few years go by and I see my PCP again and asked how I have been treating my thyroid problems and I said "I don't have one". He showed me the consult report from the Endo confirming my PCP diagnosis. My question is this, What am I to do now? I have lost about 20 lbs. when i only weighed 110 2years ago and hair loss.
15915009 tn?1488868338 m 17 and was officially diagnosed with thyroid storm, which was linked to untreated graves disease just over 1 1/2 years ago. It has been misdiagnosed for ADHD around 4-5 years ago. I'm still on antithyroid pills to this day. I'm hoping to get off of them soon, but is it possible to have a relapse later in life after I have not been taken them, if Graves Disease will be with me for the rest of my life and if I need to get my blood checked every so often?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 28 year old woman and was diagnosed with graves disease 3 years ago. I have commented o many forums regarding my problem but would like your advice. I was treated with radio active iodine in 2006 and then became hypothyroid, I now take 150mg of levothyroxine daily. I have never suffered from graves opthalmology as far as i'm aware. For the last 6 months I have had a chronic daily headache. This started 3 days after purchasing new glasses.

Avatar f tn I am a 43 year old female. I was diagnosed in February (2008) with GravesDisease. I was started on methimazole (10mg 3x/day). In March I was switched to PTU (50mg 2x/day) when I developed a rash from the methimazole, and after blood work (Free T3 1.6, Free T4 0.38, TSH 4.05). In April I went back for blood work (Free T3 1.69, Free T4 0.29, TSH 42.3) and my dose was lowered to 25 mg once/day. In May my labs indicated that I am still hypo from too much PTU (Free T3 2.06, Free T4 0.
Avatar f tn I've never heard of anyone dying from Graves Disease, but you haven't given nearly enough information. I don't understand the "post 8 months"; what does that mean? What was the stent in her arm for? Was your friend being treated with anti-thyroid medication? Did she have untreated cancer?
