Avatar m tn Low tsh can be a sign of Graves Disease, which causes eye problems and goiters like you are describing.
1646899 tn?1302143134 Is it possible to get Graves Disease before the age of 20!? SAY LIKE 19!???
Avatar m tn I don't understand your question. Are you asking for a diagnosis? What are your actual test results for TSH, FT3, FT4, TPOab? Please post them, along with the reference ranges, since these are lab specific.
Avatar n tn Your test results seem to suggest Graves' Disease. A good article on it can be found at the Mayo Clinic web-site here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/graves-disease/DS. In short, though, if you have Graves' Disease, your immune system is mistakenly attacking your thyroid.
Avatar n tn He was diagnosed with gastroparesis recently. He has a positive small bowel biopsy, intraepithial lymphocytosis. Graves disease runs in the family, paternal grandmother. Please help! He can't go to school and has to quit his beloved soccer. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Graves disease, multinodular goitre, thyroiditis). Along with the RAIU and scan, thyroid antibodies also need to be tested - TPOAb, TgAb and TSI.
Avatar f tn Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies to make sure you do, in fact, have Graves disease and are not simply in a hyper phase of Hashimoto's? Both Graves and Hashimoto's are autoimmune. While Graves is always connected with hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's is most often connected with hypothyroidism, however it's not uncommon for one to have periods of hyperthyroidism in the beginning stages. You should ask for thyroid antibody tests.
Avatar n tn Has your doctor told you, you have Graves Disease? Yes, your TSH is extremely low and your FT4 is extremely high, indicating that you are hyper, but your antibody tests indicate Hashimoto's. TSI is the definitive test for Graves Disease and I don't see that listed. Have you been put on antithyroid med?
Avatar f tn My GP has diagnosed me with Graves Disease after obtaining the following lab results: TSH <0.03 (RR 0.40 - 4.00) Free T4 13.2 (RR 10.6 - 20.5) Free T3 5.4 (RR 3.3 - 6.2) Thyroglobulin Antibodies 17 (RR <150) TPO Antibodies 399 (RR <50) Thyroid ultrasound- "...thyroid normal in size, however diffusely inhomogeneous with increased vascularity..." - Both antibodies tested can be present in BOTH Graves and Hashi's.
Avatar f tn Did I develop neutropenia from the Graves disease and how do I stop the neutropenia from getting worse? Also, what are some things that I should avoid as a result of my neutropenia? In addition, my heart rate ranges from 120-140 and I feel very tired and confused. Are these feelings a result of my heart rate? Thank you in advance.
2079117 tn?1332020390 Autoimmune diseases don't always cause symptoms in their early stages...... I have 2 of them, so can attest to that fact. With a TSI of 314 (range < 140), I'd agree with the diagnosis of Graves Disease. My agreement might limited from here on. There is really no treatment for the autoimmune disease itself (lowering the antibody count). The symptoms caused by the disease are what's treated.
Avatar n tn The medical community seems to be happy with treating the symptoms and not looking for the causes - big pharma would lose money if many causes for disease were found. The leading thyroid association voice for Dr's is almost invisibly owned by the makers of Synthroid (hypo T4 med). So were srcewed from the start.
Avatar n tn I am very concerned for her and have talked to a friend who is an MD and they said without a doubt it is Graves disease. This MD has not met her, though says she needs to see a doctor asap! She also mentioned to me that she should not be caring for young children as the episodes I described to her demonstrated her emotional state. My question is...can someone tell (as this doctor has) without a doubt with a list of physical symptoms that she does indeed have graves?
Avatar f tn 4 yrs ago i was diagnosed with graves disease and since i was about to move out of state and lose medical for a while my dr treated me in a hurry. After being assured that Graves disease was most likely what was wrong with me and having to sign a million wavers I was given a low dose of radioactive iodine and sent packing. Within 2 weeks of the treatment I was in the ER, I'm not sure what the level was but apparently I went from dangerously over active to crazy low.
Avatar n tn After being diagnosed with Graves Disease, I opted to have my Thyroid obliterated using the Radioactive Iodine Therapy procedure. During the transition of losing the Thyroid, I lost a good portion of my vision in my right eye. Was told that the vision loss is due to AION (Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropothy). Once I lost my vision, I began to feel "unbalanced" or "light headed" at all times. Sometimes this feeling diminishes but it never really disappears.
Avatar f tn Hi there... there isn't any reason for you to be so depressed about your daughter's diagnosis of Graves Disease... Why don't you give me some more information and I'll try to help you work through it, so you don't feel so bad about it? First off, do you know what her current thyroid hormone levels are? They should have tested her for Free T4 and Free T3, along with the pituitary hormone, TSH.
Avatar n tn t enlarge like the soft, rubber like sclera of youth. Graves Diease with exophthalmos can be very difficult to diagnosis and 'regular' thyroid studies can be normal. You really need to discuss this with your physicians. These cases are so unique that I can't generalize anymore.
Avatar f tn hi I have recently seen my doctor about 2 lumps on either side of my neck, he done blood tests which he said were basically fine, I am now having blurred vision and the lumps are causing uncomfortable ache in the back of my head, I have read about graves disease and many of the symptoms I have, could the doctor have missed graves disease?
Avatar f tn How did your family doctor make the diagnosis of Graves disease? Did he perform a radioactive iodine uptake scan? Did he test your blood for antibodies that are present with Graves disease? An endo is much more familiar with the diseases of our glanduar systems, but that doesnt mean your gp. couldnt make the call. I have Graves and my immediate symptoms were: rapid heart beat, weight loss, shakey hands, anxiety attacks and a few more.
Avatar f tn You have hyperthyroidism. Most commonly this would be Graves' disease. The ultrasound did not show a nodule that would be "hot". The vascularity on the ultrasound was unremarkable, typically in thyroiditis this is a low. Classically in Graves' disease it is high but this does not exclude Graves' disease. The antibody you've had have been negative but these are nonspecific for Graves' disease.
Avatar n tn Question if anyone knows- once Graves eye disease is done is it gone forever? Will the swelling and eye problems come back?
