Avatar f tn Hello and Welcome to the Community .. I'm sure some others with Grave's Experience will stop by .. but wanted to say hi!
Avatar f tn Similarly, sarcoidosis of the thyroid gland may develop in response to an established thyroid disorder including Gravesdisease, nodular goiter, and thyroid cancer. Patients with Gravesdisease may also have concomitant conditions of sarcoidosis affecting the lungs. Patients with systemic sarcoidosis may also develop sarcoid lesions in various organs including the thyroid gland.
Avatar f tn RAI is usually not done unless one has Graves Disease; it's also done following surgery if cancer is involved. Many of us have multi nodular goiter and nothing needs to be done. Quite often when one has a goiter, they also have antibodies which attack and destroy the thyroid gland.
Avatar f tn You have hyperthyroidism. Most commonly this would be Graves' disease. The ultrasound did not show a nodule that would be "hot". The vascularity on the ultrasound was unremarkable, typically in thyroiditis this is a low. Classically in Graves' disease it is high but this does not exclude Graves' disease. The antibody you've had have been negative but these are nonspecific for Graves' disease.
Avatar f tn I was disgnosed with Graves when I was 14 years old and I am now 20 years old. I had general symptoms of Graves disease such as; Heart palpatations, goiter, tremors, weight loss, and sweats of my hands. I was first put on Atentol for my heart and Methmazole twice daily for my thyroid. Within a month I was off of my heart medicine and was still on Methmazole twice daily. Then probably within 3 months I was down to the dose which I still take today, one 10mg tablet of Methmazole at bedtime.
Avatar f tn I have a goiter and symptoms of thyroid disease; weight gain, fatigee, depression, goiter, excesive facial hair...etc. but I have seen two endocrinologists who agree that my labwork is fine so 'I don't have a thyroid condition'! So what in the heck is causing all of these irritating sypmtoms? I read a little on 'Cushings disese' and a lot of these symptoms seem likely. Is there anyone who has this condition or knows someone who does?
Avatar n tn i have a goiter with nodules- taking iodoral, has it helped anyone shink goiter and nodules?
Avatar f tn then I started having panic attacks, headaches, frequent bowel movments, sore throats, heart palptations, energy level drops, and frequent fatigue.plus I have an enlarged goiter and its giving me pain now,and I don't know what the problem really is.
Avatar n tn Had some blood work done within these two weeks, followed by more bloodwork, was sent to a specialist and was told that I have Graves disease along with Hep C. Needless to say I am surprised and overwhelmed. In the past three days I have started on Tapazole, 5mg a day, and I am still getting hives this whole time, along with increased fatigue. In the past 6 years I have developed allergies (hives) from many antibiotics, where before the only allergies I used to experience were seasonal.
Avatar n tn oops sorry to you and doctor Mark, i didn't realize i was commenting in the Dr's Forum..
Avatar f tn TSI is thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin and is found in people with Graves disease, another autoimmune disease that targets the thyroid and causes hyperthyroidism. TSI in normal range indicates you probably don't have Graves. Both Graves disease and Hashimoto's can cause goiters.
Avatar f tn You need a second opinion. Based on what you describe, you have autoimmune thyroid disease with markers for Graves' (TSI) and the other common antibodies (TPO and Tg) that are usually associated with hashimoto's. Graves' and Hashi should be considered as entities on two ends of a spectrum, not two completely different diseases. This may cause fluctuating thyroid function to hypo and hyper and back but this is not common.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have Graves and Graves ophthalmology. I’ve been on methiizole for 2 years and recently dose increased 10mg and I became hypo, developed large goiter quickly that is pushing my esophagus among other things. Went off methimizole, swelling went away 90%. Doctor put me on Atenelol since refuse methimizole until my thyroidectomy upcoming as I’m not mildly hyper again. I am aching all over, my eyes seem worse, my ribs are sore, intermittent headach, face breaking out, weak muscles.
Avatar m tn Low tsh can be a sign of Graves Disease, which causes eye problems and goiters like you are describing.
Avatar m tn It should be pointed out that, especially in the US literature, the term ‘hashitoxicosis’ is sometimes used to describe an autoimmune thyroid disease overlap syndrome of Gravesand Hashimoto’s disease.2 In this article the term is strictly limited to the ‘leakage’ symptoms of active Hashimoto’s disease." *** I've had both Hashi's and Graves antibodies simultaneously but I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis previously.
Avatar f tn my mother had hyperthyroid/graves disease and goiter... I was tested @13yrs old and was found to have slightly hyperactive thyroid.... well @30yrs old I now have a goiter and 2 nodules.... but when I went back to endo.. they said that they think we never had hyperthyroid that we possibly have a genetic autoimmune disease... they said there are several that can cause a secondary thyroid response.....
