Common Questions and Answers about Goat milk health infants

milk

Avatar f tn There are other ways to get calcium. You might google "diets for people with dairy sensitivity" and see where you get. Also, if it's just cow's milk that does it, you might try goat's milk and goat cheese.
163305 tn?1333668571 Thanks, I've been using rice milk but I'm going to try switching to almond milk. I'll check out that link.
Avatar n tn About the goat milk, you probably can do that. My aunt got a goat to use when my cousin was little, so they would have enough goat milk available all the time. He is a lot younger than I am, but he has his own children himself now, so obviously raw goat's milk didn't hurt him. There is some important information about dairy intolerances on mercola.com, too. The laws requiring pasteurization are actually causing all the friendly flora in milk to be killed.
Avatar m tn You could replace the milk with goat milk, soy milk, or rice milk. In the future, as your child gets older, avoiding things like chocolate, cheese, and even eggs at restaurants (since milk is often added) would be a good idea. The good thing about lactose intolerance is that it can go away as your child gets older. Mine went away when I was around 12 or 13. For the time being, switching to a milk alternative would most likely be the best route for your baby. Good luck you you and your family.
Avatar n tn I got alot of information from The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf, I would definately advise for eggs, just not raw unless you are breeding the chickens yourself because of growth hormones given to chickens cause it to have salmonella. I wouldn't advise milk because milk has animal protein which is very acidic. The best thing to break down acidic foods is calcium. But there is calcium in milk right?
Avatar n tn I have a goat who has an utter that has hardened. Is there anything we can do to treat her for this?
Avatar n tn I haven't tried a goat soap but don't think that would help our condition. The goat cheese on the other hand doesn't work with me but I'm fine with goats milk. No side effects. But I seriously don't like the taste of it. Rather switch to rice or oat milk.
Avatar f tn My 15 year old daughter was first diagnosed with lactose intolerance about two years ago. She has not eaten any dairy products at all since. We went back to the doctor this past August(we see a gastroenterologist) and told her that my daughter was not able to tolerate any milk at all. She never eats dairy unless it is by accident because she can most certainly tell if she has had milk. One time I bought Wonder bread and my daughter ate some.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure, you should ask a doctor about that. Why do you need to drink milk anyway? If it's for the calcium why can't you take supplements? If it has to be milk, you might try goat milk. It's really expensive and not always pasteurized so I don't know if that's really an option, but I know some people who can't drink cow milk but are fine with goat milk.
Avatar f tn if you like the taste of milk and personally want to drink it, goat milk is the healthiest for human consumption. (Cows have multiple stomachs for a reason) If you like it though, go for a lower fat volume - like 1% or skim. Of course it is completely your choice! This is your body and your baby and no matter what you decide, it will be right for you (: I'm just offering the knowledge.
Avatar m tn Full fat dairy is considered healthier by many than modified products, while others advocate non- or low-fat. For health purposes, avoiding dairy would be the best thing, as most people don't tolerate it very well but don't always notice that until later in life, but if this is just an occasional treat and you don't notice increased inflammation or mucous then go for it.
Avatar m tn Adults cannot get HIV from breast milk. That only applies to infants because their immune systems are immature. Also, breast milk only becomes a risk (to infants) after consistent ongoing breast feeding. You don't have an HIV concern.
Avatar f tn If it is the taste, suggest mixing chocolate or strawberry flavor in the milk. Of the different milks, goat milk would be the best choice and the closest to regular milk, then Soymilk. Almond milk does not have many nutrients as the above, and coconut milk is very high in saturated fat. If she is not lactose intolerant, suggest increasing other sources of calcium which is cheese, yogurt, pudding, and ice cream.
Avatar f tn Almost all soft cheeses sold in the US are made with pasteurized milk. You only have to be concerned with they cheeses made with raw milks. That can be brie or feta but most likely what you get in a grocery store is made with pasteurized milk. So enjoy!
Avatar n tn Interesting. I have read a lot about soy and found that in moderate amounts it is healthy. Even my health care plan said to have moderate amounts in an anti inflammatory diet. I read a book by Colin Campbell who did a large study on the diets of Chinese and why they don't get cancer and osteoporsis. I'll take a look at these. I agree I don't think infants should have soy as their main milk product but for adults I'll have to read.
6822962 tn?1396329659 I think my milk is drying up. When I hand express I barely get a few drops. My 11 month old keeps signing milk to me when he nurses. I am 7 weeks pregnant. Is there anything I can do so it doesn't dry up? I am so crushed and sad now. My son is allergic to formula and soy.
184674 tn?1360860493 I have tried toasting bread for him--he still hates it. The two times I have seen him willingly eat bread has been when a small slice of French bread was dipped in pasta sauce as a sample from Sam's Club, and when I gave him a bite of a hot dog bun that had some ketchup on it (he *loves* ketchup). But I just can't bring myself to make him a ketchup sandwich, lol...
Avatar m tn Lactoferrin, minimal inflammation or activation within the infant gut during exclusive breastfeeding, and nonspecific biological molecules in the milk are identified as major factors of breast-milk defense. This review discusses preemptive antiviral therapy during pregnancy and lactation.
Avatar n tn My husband recently bought a nubian doe goat. He only paid $25. She seems healthy other than hard knots in her udder. There are 4 or 5 fist size knots one one side. What type of mastitis could this be. There doesn't seem to be any blood in her milk. We aren't milking her to let her dry up. Will that help?
Avatar n tn Almost everyone is allergic to cow's milk. That's why mammals breast feed. When you don't or can't breast feed, one thing missing is the immune system building colostrum found in early breast milk. No formula is healthy -- they are just the best we can do sometimes.
Avatar f tn Remamber that everything U do to urself aka smoking, drinkin, taking drugs(talking about pharmasy drugs to). Will go in to ur sistem, blood, breastmilk and that will also feed ur baby. Even the baby can get reaction to the food ur eating if it is allergic to some type of food(U can see that if its change in ur babies skin, body etc). Remamber I had antibiotic while breastfeeding, and I notice that she wasnt reacting the same way as she use to.
Avatar f tn thanks guys yea shes happy with her juice at the min, had a word with the health visitor and she said it sounds like self weaning and shes drinking cows milk in the day too so health visitor said shell still be getting everything she needs even though shes only having the one bottle of fomula at night.
1339680 tn?1276744901 Try instead either goat or sheep milk. This is what my daughter had to do with one of her children. It solved the problem. Some babies, unfortunately, do not sleep through the night at his age.
284738 tn?1283106819 A good one if you have to go with formula is neocate or nannycare goat milk formula. Reflux meds do not correct the problem but make it worse. The problem is poor digestion...he needs MORE acid, NOT less!
