Avatar m tn The prevalence of glucose intolerance in hyperthyroid state was 39.4% [impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) 31.5% and diabetes mellitus (DM) 7.9%]. This was significantly higher than that of 30.7% [IGT 19.2% and DM 11.5%] in healthy volunteers (p < 0.05). Glucose intolerance was associated with higher systolic blood pressure, higher mean arterial pressure, lower CIR, and higher T4 levels but not with the levels of T3.
Avatar f tn So I did my 1 hour glucose tolerance last week and got my results today. Kinda upset...they came back abnormal. They like for the glucose to be under 140 and mine was 164. About 3 hours after drinking the glucola last week my sugar dropped to 42, luckily I'm a nurse and noticed what was going on and immediately checked my sugar and then ate. But anyway...I go back on Friday to do my 3 hour glucose and am so nervous it is going to come back positive too.
2118271 tn?1337463104 I am going to an endecronologist next week and my glucose tolerance test did show blood glucose ups and crashes too from 180 to 60 within an hour . It's also not about how low it gets but also how fast it drops . either this is prediabetes , or insulinoma which is a usually benign tumor on the pancreas that releases too much insulin .
Avatar n tn Adrenaline raises glucose levels by stimulating the liver to change glycogen into glucose. When normal glucose regulation fails with type 2 diabetics, the kidneys are forced to remove excess glucose via the urinary tract. This usually is caused by insulin deficiency. In your case this does not apply. I have read that one of the common symptoms of POTS is reactive hypoglycemia, lowering of glucose.
Avatar n tn I'm a 53 year old woman who just had a 3 hour glucose tolerance test, here are my results: Fasting - 106 1 hour - 210 2 hour - 230 3 hour - 167 I'm not sure if these results mean I'm a pre-diabetic or diabetic. Thank you for your help in advance.
Avatar m tn 4 mmol/L away from type 2 diabetes diagnosis on my oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). My random and fasting blood glucose is always normal. The OGTT test is ordered if there is a suspicion of prediabetes or diabetes with normal random or fasting glucose. Fasting glucose test: Pre diabetes: 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) Diabetes: 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) or higher Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Pre diabetes: 140 to 199 mg/dL (7.8 to 11.0 mmol/L) Diabetes: 200 mg/dL (11.

Avatar n tn Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps the body use glucose for energy. Glucose is a form of sugar that is the body’s main source of energy. The body’s digestive system breaks food down into glucose, which then travels in the bloodstream to cells throughout the body. Glucose in the blood is called blood glucose, also known as blood sugar. As the blood glucose level rises after a meal, the pancreas releases insulin to help cells take in and use the glucose.
390388 tn?1279636213 ) and have no hot or cold tolerance. I get brief (2 min.) hard headaches, and now the pains in my legs are coming back. I have had some heart issues over the past. Now is fine. MY (hs CRP 6-20) is always high. In the last few months (off and on) I've been very aware of my heartbeat with some really bad chest pains. She said as far as the sugar goes that I should eat 3X daily vs. 1 or 2 and add protein and fat and healthy carb w/ each meal.
Avatar f tn I have a glucose tolerance test tomorrow & I have not been given any information on or about it. My mum has rang my GP surgery this morning for info and they have told her that i can't have a cigarette after 10pm tonight until I have had my 2nd blood test... is this right? No hate please about smoking in pregnancy I just want advice because surely a cigarette has nothing to do with my sugar tolerance...
Avatar f tn ve never had abnormal fasting glucose levels but my glucose went too high however after I drank a glass of glucose (2 hour oral glucose tolerance test - OGTT) which showed I had impaired glucose tolerance.

[2] In addition to supplying cellular energy, mitochondria are involved in a range of other processes, such as signaling, cellular differentiation, cell death, as well as the control of the cell cycle and cell growth.” Refer: http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn When reading your comments, it occurred to me that your symptoms, including the slightly low glucose reading on your glucose tolerance test sound more like hypoglycemia than diabetes. Hypoglycemia means that your blood sugar is too LOW, not high (diabetes).
Avatar f tn I have been seeing a cardiologist because I can't exercise long before my heart rate jumps to over 170. I'm a 52 year old woman in otherwise good health. I recall having this problem all my life. I'm tried continued exercise to build up my tolerance but I never get any improvement. My respirologist did a stress test which showed I change from an aerobic to an anaerobic state at an early stage of exercise. Do you know what this might be. The cardiologist seems stumped also.
Avatar n tn This is thought to be a risk factor for future diabetes and a sign of hyperinsulinemia, so you should get tested formally using a 2-hour glucose tolerance test to make sure you are metabolizing glucose normally. Given your early menopause and osteopenia as well, i would suggest at least one appointment with an Endocrinologist to ensure everything is on the right track. Take care.
Avatar f tn Yay just did my glucose tolerance test after waiting for 2 hour had do do it again cos faild the first one bcoz did sick
