Glucose test result non fasting

Common Questions and Answers about Glucose test result non fasting

glucose

Avatar m tn The difference between a fasting glucose of 101 and 106 is probably negligible. Both of your values suggest that you have impaired fasting glucose (range 100 - 125). The measurement is the same in fasting and non fasting testing - the difference is in the reference range. A normal fasting glucose is < 100 and the current thinking seems to be that even a result in the mid to high 90s might suggest close monitoring.
Avatar n tn With the FPG(Fasting Plasma Glucose Test)test, a fasting blood glucose level between 100 and 125 mg/dl signals pre-diabetes. A person with a fasting blood glucose level of 126 mg/dl or higher has diabetes. That is from the American Diabetes website, http://www.diabetes.org/about-diabetes.jsp So, I think your doctor is doing all the right things. Why don't you look at that site or the JDRF site.
Avatar m tn 1, fasting glucose 92). An additional fasting glucose test a few months later was normal at 94. Just a few days ago, I got another blood test and my fasting glucose was back up to 101. So in the past year, my results have been 102, 92, 94, and 101. I am 34 years old, very athletic, and not overweight at all. I am concerned about diabetes because both my aunt and uncle on my mother's side had type 1 diabetes, though my mother did not. Should I be concerned about the latest 101 result?
Avatar f tn What is the normal range result for glucose challenge test with 75 grams glucose load (with fasting)? I has a test last April 9, 2012 and result is 81.19 mg/dl. Is this normal? Please help. Thanks much and God bless.

Avatar f tn That's crazy that so many women on here said their drs said not to fast. I've seen 4 different obgyns and all sais for the glucose test is a fasting test. Maybe that's why I see so many women on here saying they failed their test? I've never heard of not fasting for this test tho crazy!
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to eat a bacon and egg biscuit the morning of my glucose test . And What should I expect ? Most ppl say not to eat the night before the glucose test... but my doctor told me to.

975514 tn?1324997938 I recently had a blood test, which included a glucose test. I wasn't fasting. I ate a bowl of whole grain cereal at about 5AM. My test was a 10AM. My uncle has diabetes and my sister is hypoglycemic. I know I get sick if I have a shake from McDonalds, but that's about it. I get really tired and nauseated. I don't drink sugary beverages at all just because I am always watching my weight, but I wonder now how that would effect me?
Avatar f tn Hi.. I'm 31 yrs old male .
Avatar f tn What is the normal range result for glucose challenge test with 75 grams glucose load (with fasting)? I had a test last April 9, 2012 and result is 81.19 mg/dl. Is this within normal or I am nearing being diabetic? Please help. Thanks much and God bless.
Avatar m tn I think A1c is veyr important for monitoring trend over time. Fasting blood glucose is a bit useful in that fasting glucose can change over time and indicate a problem. But in many people the fasting blood glucose might be one of the last numbers to be abnormal. On the other hand fasting blood sugar can also be affected by your previous day's meal and activity levels.
Avatar n tn A fasting glucose test will give a fairly accurate reading of the amount of excess glucose floating around your blood streams. A measurement of 5.0 mmol/l is considered normal, not diabetic.
Avatar f tn Normal fasting blood glucose for a non-diabetic person will be < 95, with ideal considered to be in the mid- to low 80s. One issue is that sometimes post meal numbers can be abnormally high, even while fasting appears normal or close to normal. So I would recommend that you request an hba1c, which is a test for average 3 month blood sugar. ideally that result will be 5.0 or less. You could alternatively buy a blood glucose meter and test your levels from time to time.
1654177 tn?1319838494 Anyway, I told my doctor at Kaiser and she ran a random blood glucose test (non-fasting). My blood sugar was 68 ml/dl, the standard range is 70-140 ml/dl. She says to just eat less carbs and do more cardio exercise, and that this could be pre-diabetes. The part that concerns me is the numb feet. I have cut down carbs in the past 2 weks and continued to exercise more, but still my feet are numb, and hurt sometimes. Any advice?
Avatar n tn It makes a BIG difference when you test your blood sugar [glucose]. Not knowing your country of residence, the following are testing times with US measurement units. The UK and other countries, like Canada, require conversion from mg/dl to mmol/l. ● Fasting - first thing in morning before eating or drinking anything except water.
Avatar n tn in blood glucose readings, does that mean my 79 random blood glucose test is A LOT higher than that? And if I WAS fasting for that exam (it was a few months ago, believe it might have been a morning appointment), what does that mean in terms of the false decrease? Does anyone have any realistic/substanial evidence/knowledge on this?
Avatar n tn The most reliable result should be a fasting glucose done in the lab, with blood drawn from the veins, but not from capillaries in the fingers. It's not useful to just have finger picks randomly. If you have finger pick within 2 hrs after meal the result will be high even for normal people. 4 hr OGTT is not very reliable From what I've known, you can only say someone is diabetic if there is one of the following: 1. fasting plasma glucose >126 mg/dl 2.
Avatar f tn I had milk and left over garlic bread not even an hour before I started the test. My results came out fine. They are only checking random glucose tolerance not fasting. The cutoff for the results are different so you don't need to worry. Normally Your body is supposed to produce insulin enough to cover your intake no matter how much you eat.
10881528 tn?1423629432 You should not eat before. Only drink water. You are supposed to take the test while fasting.
Avatar m tn Now I am very confused from the above tests I am not sure why all of the test are normal except the fasting one. And what the HbA1c indicates now? the result is normal so what does that mean? I am not really sure if I am diabetecs/prediabetecs/etc. Please help me as my next appointment in 1 month from now.
