Glucose test in first trimester pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Glucose test in first trimester pregnancy

glucose

Avatar n tn Does diabetes run in your family? It does in mine so I asked to take the glucose test at 4 weeks since I had it gestational diabetes with sll my pregnancy... I gained alot.of weight when my glucose wasnt managed...
Avatar m tn I triggered a reading in the diabetic range the first 2 hour test. (I ate a sandwich before the test, oops) and then had to do the confirming test of 4 hours glucose test. That was about zero fun, I'll tell you. But with that one, my blood sugar was normal (I fasted properly). You've had both tests and your sugar is still high? The normal range is below 7.8 and it is gestational diabetes over 11. At least your number isn't over 11. I also think you were tested early.
Avatar f tn So when i got pregnant 8 weeks postpartum they did the 3-hour test in my first trimester. I failed. My only side effect was a TERRIBLE headache on my way home from the test. Just remember it is for your health as well as baby. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I did it with my first pregnancy and passed out in the waiting room and was low risk anyway. This time OB happy for a blood test only. I'd do it again if I had risk factors but it's pretty cruel for women with morning sickness and low blood sugar levels in my opinion.
Avatar f tn My glucose test was done at 26 weeks. Im now 26 and 5 days prego..
Avatar f tn 29 weeks with 74 days to go! I passed my glucose, anemia and iron test! I'm feeling pretty good. I really thank God for allowing to have a healthy and good pregnancy so far, without any complications. I pray that God helps all these future or already mommies with their pregnancies. How far along are you? What's a pregnancy experience you'll never forget?
Avatar f tn So everyone has told me that they are doing my glucose test way to soon. I'm almost 8 weeks along and I go tomorrow for my test. Is there a certain time they do it that is a lot farther along?
Avatar f tn My second trimester the did blood work to check for any birth defects, a glucose test at around 24 weeks and a shot because I had a negative blood type. So it really just depends on you and your doc.
10798067 tn?1431550433 Hey ladies..ok so im on my 4th pregnancy and due to have a glucose test in a few week..told its goin to take 2 to 3 hours! I have never had one before on previous pregnancies but i have heard it makes you feel awful sick afterwards..is this true? And what exactly does it involve? What was your experience of it like?
Avatar f tn Noooooo LoL Ive BEen Enjoying My Pregnancy Thusfar lol
5002615 tn?1366014009 So next month ima do the glucose test. Um do any of you onow what it mean when your body reacts negative to it and not the way it should? Just wondering because dibeties does run in my family on both sides.
Avatar f tn I did a 1-hour glucose test today (if you're confused you usually do this test around week 26). The reason I had it was because my doctor wants to check for Gestational Diabetes each trimester since I'm at higher risk for developing it thanks to my stupid PCOS. Pray I don't get GD! Anyway, I think test will show normal. Otherwise I have to do the 3-hour glucose test (NOT FUN)! I also had blood drawn for regular prenatal tests. In all they took 5 vials of my blood.
Avatar f tn I've heard of some people having it in the first trimester. The 3 hour test is miserable. My doctor told me to take a Zofran before drinking it and that's what finally got me to keep it down. I threw it up twice before that.
Avatar f tn All gud so far how abt u? I am going for my glucose tolerance test tom. How abt u? You had that test?
Avatar f tn They wrote me off saying they needed a first trimester blood test to compare against second trimester. Now in the 3rd trimester, after a glucose test, the doctor subtly says I'm anemic, and I tested POSITIVE anemia a while ago and someone should have called me but didn't. Now I'm having major heart palpitations and vertigo and the doc is saying I'm dehydrated, even though I drink 32 Oz of water a day. Needless to say I'm changing doctors.
Avatar f tn Hi Mayceee, If you are diagnosed i the first trimester (I was with my first, in fact my endo tested as soon as I got pregnant and i failed the glucose tolerance test), then it is not gestational diabetes, but rather preexisting diabetes that is uncovered by the pregnancy. I was very athletic prepregnancy. I had been tested for diabetes early and come back negative. But I was on insulin by the time I was 3 months pregnant. Please ask any questions you want and I will do my best to answer.

4618938 tn?1369067286 I did with my first- I put on several pounds a week for the last few weeks and I had swelling up to my thighs so my doctor said it was fluid retention! :( Are you pretty swollen?
Avatar f tn m getting close to my third trimester it starts Wed and today I got sick like I did in the beginning I heard that morning sickness can come back in the third trimester was wondering if any of u had the glucose test done and it made u sick either from being really gross or from having morning sickness still
Avatar f tn just wondering , did anyone have bleeding in there first trimester , just some light blood . ?
Avatar f tn m having my 3rd girl but my oldest is a boy. Iv only gained 7.2lbs through this pregnancy so far. My glucose test was negative =). Monday I see my baby girl again because doctor wants to make sure baby is fine and growing healthy. I'm trying for a vba3c =) (vaginal birth after 3 csections)...
Avatar f tn / Wait, do you mean you failed your 1 hour glucose test?? With a 170?? There is a running post about the 3 hour glucose test on here and most of the ladies that failed the one hour passed the 3 hour, me included! Good luck!
Avatar n tn This can cause damage to you, as you know, and the baby is at risk of damage if glucose levels are uncontrolled, especially during the first trimester when initial development is happening, and during the last trimester when the placenta needs to be well-nourished by the small blood vessels in your body in order to sutain the larger unborn baby. Most doctors now recommend that their diabetic patients try to have good glucose control for a period of about 3 months before getting pregnant.
4658567 tn?1364142123 My doctor regularly explains to me that the further along in a pregnancy (at least in the 3rd trimester), the sugars are likely to raise & that it has something to do with the placenta and the baby growing out of space. I can't say whether you'll be enduced sooner than later - for pregnancy, #1 my water broke in triage on its own. I wish you all the best. Congratulations!
Avatar f tn I wouldn't worry too much, it's just controlled by diet. Last pregnancy I didn't do the test but followed the low GI diet anyway as it's better whilst pregnant, and better for normal everyday life too! I've made changes that developed into habits and my overall average diet has improved and I'm now passing those habits onto my kids... Can't say I've done that well eating in this new first trimester but last time I made my deadline week 20...
