Common Questions and Answers about Glucose normal high

glucose

Avatar n tn ve been checking my blood sugar, it was at 122 on fasting, then went up to 206 2hrs after a meal of mash potatoes, pork chop, bread and a soda [something a normal person would eat and be ok], that same day, a couple of hours later it was still high, at 144. Is that something to worry about?
Avatar n tn you have impaired fasting glucose and impaired glucose tolerance based on those numbers you communicated. There is no definite recommendation at this time regarding medication treatment for these levels of abnormal glucose handling, but in many cases where other issues are present(such as high cholesterol, being overweight, family history of diabetes and high blood pressure) some doctors will start a low dose of Metformin. That is something you may consider discussing with your doctor as well.
Avatar f tn / I go see my Dr tomorrow so I will talk to him then about my concern. Anyone else having this? Or have had it in the past?

1276121 tn?1420860600 Well as some of you know i had my first appointment 7/27 and by ultrasound i measured 5w2d. Today my lab work came back and my hcg was 28,059, is that normal? Also did a glucose and they wanted that to be between 90-130 and mine came back at 131 so they want me to do the 3 hour. I hope all goes well tuesday when i do the 3 hour.
107693 tn?1252864443 My husband last was A1C 6.2 . My question is, why is that his blood glucose is high upon waking up. It is 130 than he has breakfast and works out. So about four hours later the blood glucose level are in the 80's.
Avatar n tn I checked, and sure enough, had similar normal readings like in the glucose tolerance test. My Dr. Said its likely just because I stress about testing, its effecting food digestion, and the stress hormones are raising blood sugars more when I'm trying to digest a carb load. He seems to think that since my body handled the liquid carb load in both the glucose test he gave me, and the 20oz coke I drank, that I am fine.
Avatar f tn Just a quick update. Finished steroids yesterday and slept better last night. Blood glucose quite high but told this is normal and they will check in 2 weeks to see if it comes down. Not back to work full time as taking it slow. Im sure in 2 weeks I will feel back to my normal self. Just so glad I decided to take the steroids.
Avatar n tn It sounds as if you have a glucometer since you said you have checked his glucose levels. Do you know what is considered "normal" in glucose readings? Glucose levels for non-diabetics and for diabetic people go up and down all day long. Most doctors don't consider glucose levels to be too low unless they drop below 70, but a person can start to feel a little bit bad if in the low 70's, so this might explain why your son didn't feel like eating when his sugar was at 73.
Avatar n tn between 70-126 is the number range that many doctors use. But this is for fasting glucose levels only. After meals, it is normal for glucose levels to rise above this, and the numbers quoted as 'normal' vary, depending on which doctor you talk to. I have read that a number of about 140-150 is considered healthy for after-meal sugar levels.

Avatar f tn I was close to normal with the 1 hour but where I am it's only 2 hour instead of 3 hours if you fail the first test. 2 out of 3 tests came back normal. They said it doesn't matter if 1 test is high you are considered a gestational diabetic and once you deliver the placenta it's out of your system or shortly after. As long as you keep your sugar level close to normal or below you should be good unless they say otherwise. Mine are for the most part normal or below.
Avatar f tn Everyone agrees that normal 8-10 hr fasting (prandial) glucose ranges are 70-99 mg/dl. Then we have 2-4 hours after meal (postprandial) which is 140-145 mg/dl. This is what you father should aiming for. BUT, and I say but because with your pregnancy it has a different outcome. An Endocrinologist (diabetes specialist) should be seen to get an expert opinion.
Avatar f tn Does a persons age play a factor for their "normal" fasting glucose range? During my last visit to my 82 yo mother, I happened to see her test results that showed her fasting glucose range topping out at 180 mg. I, on the other hand, being 60 yo & under immunosuppressant meds have a range from 50 - 150 mg, yet I constantly hear the normal range is 70 - 120. Both of our blood samples are tested at the same lab too. So what is the "normal" fasting glucose range?
Avatar f tn "normal" depends on who you ask Ive herd 70 to 140 and 60 to 110 and....
576054 tn?1217783138 My doctor will be doing tests in a few weeks, but I have had some fairly high glucose levels lately. I also have a history of high blood pressure although that has been better most of the time lately. Tonight all of a sudden I started having a terrible headache and nausea. My glucose level was somewhat high. So either this was due to the glucose levels or due to high blood pressure. Whatever it is, I am so tired of being sick and tired all of the time.
Avatar m tn Hi all, I am 30 years old, exercise, with a fairly clean diet, no family history of diabetes. I have recently visited an endo because my fasting glucose was a bit high, 95 on the last blood work. Every other test was completely normal. After a complete blood/urine test, everything came back normal, including A1C of 4.8 My endo suggested that I can take the glucose tolerance test to be sure (he is very thorough).
Avatar n tn Your glucose [blood sugar] levels are higher than normal but not that high to cause gastrointestinal problems. I feel your issue is beyond the expertise of your current doctor. I suggest you see a Gastroenterologist, a doctor who trained and specializes in the digestive system and its disorders. Blood draws and possibly a scan is in order. Lastly, do not take anything unknown to you that may increase your discomfort further than it is. Good luck.
Avatar n tn In a normal Non Diabetic person, what is the highest (peak ) Glucose levels that are usually attained. If the Peak is below 200 is this considered normal? or is it much lower?
