Avatar n tn Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children? GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in combination with other oral glucose-control medicines or insulin in children. If you have any questions about the use of GLUCOPHAGE in children, talk with your doctor or other healthcare provider.
Avatar n tn scolded me for stopping the med, and insists that I continue to give him Glucophage. The Dr. says that the Glucophage will serve as an appetite suppresant as well as help control the blood sugars. Have you ever heard of other children being prescribed Glucophage in addition to other insulin? What are the facts on Glucophage and juveniles?
Avatar n tn Hardly. Symptoms DO NOT mean a pregnancy is viable--in fact symptoms mean nothing at all. It's the reaction a female has to the pregnancy, nothing more. I've been pregnant twice, miscarried one. My first with my daughter I had nausea/vomiting, sore breasts and fatigue. My second I had BAD fatigue and nausea/vomiting--this is the one I lost. They 'claim' that nausea/vomiting indicates a strong pregnancy and this is untrue.

I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.

I have some minor pains, nothing severe its more like cramping, especially around the time I should be having a period. i have mood swings, food cravings, and an increased appetite, headaches, dizziness, leg cramps, heartburn, nasal congestion, nose bleeds, rib pain, i urinate very frequently and suddenly, indigestion, and...
1039061 tn?1257878294 s what brings me here. The endocrinologist told her that he would like to start her on Glucophage to try to shrink the nodule. He felt that surgically removing the nodule at this point would be aggressive, especially since they are benign. Does anyone have an ideas on this, or experience? Is this a viable solution? I know that Glucophage is used for diabetics, but are there other uses, such as this? Any help would be appreciated!!!
1546050 tn?1293688410 She then decided that I must be insulin resistant and put me on Glucophage 1 in the evening without even doing any tests or telling me anything about an eating plan etc. I am now following a low GI eating plan I got on the internet. My question is - should I be on Glucophage if I was not properly tested for insulin resistance and if my sugar test came out within normal range?

Avatar n tn My doc say that I have PCOS, irregular periods ( from childhood), metabolic syndrome and other symptoms. It's seems to be hereditary. She prescribed Glucophage, and I took 2 tab each 500 for a year. Did not cure me, infact I felt worst. I also have high cholesterol, but don't eat meat and jog 3 miles almost 5 times a week. I am prediabetic and very likely to get heart disease stroke and other fatal complications as I grow older. Please advise me how to cure PCOS.
182352 tn?1231183410 my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy. thanks so much.
1266083 tn?1358564062 Okay, here's the deal. I started having the "montly visit" when I was 11. For 2 years, it was irregular and when I was 13, it just STOPPED all together. I had no period for about 3 years when a doctor FINALLY diagnosed me with PCOS at the age of 16, and did a "vaginal probe" (I hate the sound of that word, haha) and found "hundreds of little cysts" on my ovaries. Well, I was then put on Yasmin and Glucophage.

Avatar n tn I JUST WENT TO A NEW ENDOCRINOLOGIST- HE WANTS ME TO GO ON GLUCOPHAGE SO I DON'T NEED MORE INSULIN AND TO PREVENT ME FROM GAINING WEIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT GLUCOPHAGE WORKS ON YOUR LIVER AND PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING GLYCOGEN-WOULDN'T THAT BE DANGEROUS FOR ME IF I NEEDED THE GLYCOGEN DURING A POTENTIALLY BAD EPSIODE OF HYPOGLYCEMIA? I HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKING AN ACE INHIBITOR FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) TO PREVENT RENAL HYPERTENSION (I HAVE HAD TYPE 1 FOR 23 YEARS) AND THE DR.

Avatar n tn I'm a 34 yo female who is experiencing a myriad of symptoms that my doctors are trying to help me with. I am 5'8, 212 lbs and have extreme difficulties losing weight. I did however ose 150 lbs in 1995 and gained back about 50. I have excess facial hair, and extreme thinning of the hair on my head (esp since I lost all the weight). I have issues with my metabolism because I will often not feel hungry and will continue to gain weight. I started an antidepressant 1 mo ago.

Avatar f tn Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Ive been on glucophage and femara and ttc for 12 months with no luck. My period was due 4 days ago but instead I had a reddish/brown light discharge The day my period was due . This lasted a day or so and now have a very light creamish discharge for last 2 days. No sign of my period. I haven't done a test this month as I really don't want to be looking at another negative.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 24 yr old female and I am currently experiencing nausea after every meal, it started about a week ago. My gynae put me on Glucophage a little bit more then a month ago, but it couldnt be that as these symptoms have only started in the past week. I am also frequently going to the loo ( for a no2 ) shortly after every meal... My GP has checked for viruses and so on through blood tests and he says everything looks good and I'm healthy.
