Avatar f tn I have prediabetes and I am doing a two week experiment with BC measurements before meals and then 1 & 2 hours after. I eat oatmeal every morning and have never had a good "in range" result in the 1 hour post reading. I have eliminated raisins, no luck. I have eliminated skim milk. No luck. Today was just 1/2 cup oatmeal, 100 g Apple. 1/2 oz Almonds and Flax milk. Still spiked to 158. Anyone know a solution so I don't have to give up my beloved oatmeal?
Avatar m tn i talked to dr she say if i lost 5% body weight in the 1 month since the bg test, its a good sign, even though i wasnt overweight, still means i was eating too much carbs, should try longer with lower carb more exercise, too early to try the drug, does that make sense? can the fasting blood sugar be reset lower without the drug?
Avatar f tn my monitor suppose to be <5% error for reading below 100 range also my lab result was 108 consistent with what monitor tell me. but same lab result also say 5.3 hba1c. it possible my glucose was up for some reason when i give blood and my monitor gives error on high side but what are chances of that?
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, this is normal for Glucophage or any of the generic brands of this drug. It is listed on the prescription info that comes with the pills. It states that it will have a strong moldy smell and taste. Just hold your nose and take it anyway!
1039061 tn?1257878294 I know that Glucophage is used for diabetics, but are there other uses, such as this? Any help would be appreciated!!!
Avatar n tn Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children? GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in combination with other oral glucose-control medicines or insulin in children. If you have any questions about the use of GLUCOPHAGE in children, talk with your doctor or other healthcare provider.
Avatar n tn Is your son overweight? If so, his doctor may be trying to suppress his appetite in order to help him lower his weight. If he is overweight even though a type 1 diabetic, then some type 2 treatment may be necessary in addition to his insulin, for fat cells tend to cause insulin resistance problems. I am just guessing, based on what you wrote.

Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for the question. All concerns such as this are best to discuss with your physician for clarification. If you don't go to a GP, maybe it is time to start as that can be really beneficial to track your health. Did you get the blood draw after fasting? That would make a difference. https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/guide/normal-blood-sugar-levels-chart-adults This article has information related to charting of glucose numbers.
Avatar m tn I've been pre diabetic for the last several years. I recently had a fasting glucose test and it showed my blood sugar was 142.. which is basically the diabetic range, I redid the test the next week and I dropped back down to 118 the prediabetic range. I've never spiked to the diabetic range until that day. Could lack of sleep and stress maybe have spiked the glucose that high?
Avatar f tn I have high LDL and triglycerides. I am now taking thyroid medicine for hypothyroidism. I did google diabetes and feeling light headed and did come up with some hits. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn From my research it says that prediabetes is between 100 and 120 for fasting blood sugar. To confirm that I had prediabetes, I did another test 2 hours after I ate my lunch which is rice and chicken. The result was 100 and according to all articles that I read, people with prediabetes should have 140 and up. Now I'm confused, do I really have prediabetes? Thanks.
1500096 tn?1292945593 I used birth control pills for a year of which i had a regular cycle. I stopped using the pills after i got married and my cycle became very irregular. Avatar f tn Hi! If diagnosed with high insulin, is it safe to medicate like taking glucophage? Is it harmful to the liver?
Avatar f tn I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.
Avatar m tn oh forgot to say that high of 110 is at 1 hr, 2hr is back close to fasting
1546050 tn?1293688410 A week ago I went to the doctor due to experiencing menstrual cramps but no getting my period. (Just for background - I only menstruate when I am on the pill and I am currently not on it - therefore I do not menstruate without medication). She did a standard sugar test which came out as 4.4. She then decided that I must be insulin resistant and put me on Glucophage 1 in the evening without even doing any tests or telling me anything about an eating plan etc.
Avatar f tn Several people have told me recently that they were diagnosed as pre-prediabetic. OK, prediabetes I understand. But "pre-pre" sounds like "normal" to me. Is ther such a thing as pre-prediabetes?
Avatar f tn Less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) is normal. 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) is diagnosed as prediabetes. 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests is diagnosed as diabetes.
Avatar n tn I started by monitering my diet and still I needed medication, so my doctor prescribed me with Glucophage XR 500mg, 2 pills a day taken at same time.
Avatar m tn Hi all, My mom is 83 years old and has elevated glucose levels for about 5 years now. They rarely went over 150 and she has been able to control her glucose quite well through diet and exercise. But 2 months ago, she went into the hospital for 2 days for an unrelated issue & they fed her lots of high glycemic foods. Her doctor in the hospital said he was concerned she may have low blood sugar so my brothers fed her junk food and cake.
Avatar n tn She said that I still not a type 2 diabetic but just to be safe she told me to start taking glucophage once a day for 1 week and increase to 2x a day after that. Then I will repeat my tests in January. Should I start taking the meds as she prescribe. I am not overweight and no one in my family is diabetic.
