Avatar n tn I don't think PCOS and ovarian cysts are the same thing here. Those are really important questions that you have, and you need to be asking your doctor about them. Good luck!
1408770 tn?1283213203 cysts can make you miss your period for months at a time. I havent had a period for over a year maybe almost two yrs. And I have PCOS. As far as all your other symptoms I dont think there cyst related. You would be in alot more pain if you had a big cyst. I dont know were your positive resuls are coming from, are you taking any medications? If you read on your instructions that came with your tests it will tell you what medications could interfere with the results.
Avatar f tn yeah, cyst's can do that! That is either one rupturing or forming. Sounds like a rupture. More than likely, if you have PCOS, you have cysts. What the cyst is is an egg that did not release when it was supposed to, so it just chilled out in your overy and started clinging to the wall...when that happens, you feel dull pains....but every now and then, they get bumped into or whatever, and then they rupture. That hurts like a b!tch! I had to go to the er twice because the pain hurt so bad...
Avatar f tn placed patients on bith control. Now Glucophage is giving which works well for most. I have also had back pain and leg pain and shoulder pain when the cysts became large. I have had several laporoscopies and cystectomies. Which now caused adhesions and forced me to have a bilat oophorectomy. All you can do is have a sono and ask the Dr what to do and keep tract of your cysts.
229439 tn?1245812437 the first try was halted b/c clomid was actually making my 2 lt ovarian cysts grow and I had to go back on bcp for a month to help shrink the cysts. My 3rd try was successful and im now 15wks pg. I also had a cyst with the last IUI and it grew right along witht the pg and the MD said it was actually giving good hormones to the little bean. Its gone now. And actually with the clomid, bravelle and trigger shot, I felt so balanced for the first time in about a year.
1039061 tn?1257878294 I know that Glucophage is used for diabetics, but are there other uses, such as this? Any help would be appreciated!!!
1546050 tn?1293688410 A week ago I went to the doctor due to experiencing menstrual cramps but no getting my period. (Just for background - I only menstruate when I am on the pill and I am currently not on it - therefore I do not menstruate without medication). She did a standard sugar test which came out as 4.4. She then decided that I must be insulin resistant and put me on Glucophage 1 in the evening without even doing any tests or telling me anything about an eating plan etc.

Avatar f tn I started seeing a fertility doctor and he did a laproscopic surgery where he found many follicles on my ovaries and also removed 2 cysts. I felt much better. The surgery also allowed him to check for any other problems, such as blocked tubes, endometriosis.... Have you had ANY blood work done yet or been put on any meds? I am on glucophage for the PCOS. I am also starting endometrium to help regulate my periods. I have not had a normal period since March 07.
501229 tn?1210133631 “Even for large cysts - those that are more than 3 inches (similar size to my cyst) in diameter - normal ovarian tissue can almost always be saved. Remember that the ovaries contain hundreds of thousands of eggs, so that the loss of a small number should not make a difference in your fertility, your hormone levels or the age at which your menopause will begin.
Avatar f tn Doctors with good cystectomy (cyst removal) skills can almost always remove ovarian cysts and preserve the ovary or enough of it for normal function. It may be more difficult to find a doctor who will do a cystectomy than an oophorectomy (ovary removal) because it takes a little more skill and time and I've read it typically doesn't pay any better.
1175033 tn?1492201228 I have never been actually diagnosed with ovarian cysts but I positive I get them. I havnt had insurance for quite a while now so I havnt seen a obgyn. 256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar m tn I recently heard about a treatment for cancerous cysts that involves laser removal but goes in vaginally vs. requiring surgery. I can't find any details online. Has anyone heard of this? Is it even possible?
405998 tn?1222396217 I am 30 and have been on Yaz for about 2 years consistently. I have been having pain consistent with ovarian cysts for about 2 weeks and was given test results today from an ultrasound that that is in fact what is going on. I don't know anything else yet and am somewhat concerned since Yaz is supposed to suppress cysts.
Avatar f tn m not sure which type of imaging (e.g., CT, MRI, ultrasound) is the best for viewing ovarian cysts. Do you have a copy of the report? If so, what does it say about the characteristics of the cysts? The important thing to know is that the ovaries produce hormones a woman's whole life which are critical to good health. Removal of even one ovary has been shown to do more harm than good when done for benign conditions (e.g., cysts or prophylactic).
3100626 tn?1341387176 A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Ovarian-Cysts/ovarian-fibriods-and-unable-to-take-any-meds/show/1812473">ovarian fibriods and unable to take any meds</a> was started.
Avatar f tn Most ovarian cysts, even complex ones, are benign. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is very low - 1.3%. However, with your grandmother having had the disease, your risk may be greater. But it is important to determine your risk factors (e.g., BRCA1 and BRCA2 testing) before undergoing something as drastic as female organ removal with all its long-term negative effects.
Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
