Common Questions and Answers about Glucophage and ttc

glucophage

Avatar f tn Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Ive been on glucophage and femara and ttc for 12 months with no luck. My period was due 4 days ago but instead I had a reddish/brown light discharge The day my period was due . This lasted a day or so and now have a very light creamish discharge for last 2 days. No sign of my period. I haven't done a test this month as I really don't want to be looking at another negative.
256553 tn?1258883918 I was on metformin when ttc 2000mg and NOT diagnosed with PCOS. It did upset my stomach, but I got used to it. After 4 years ttc, I now have a healthy 2 month old baby girl. I was on the metformin for about 3 months before becoming pg. I was also doing follistim injections and IUI;s. I don't know if it was the metformin that helped us in the long run or not, but I think anything is worth a try.
1897345 tn?1374265855 I have pcos and i'm TTC but my period keeps stopping and i have to go to the dr to get them regulated soo does anyone know if there is a pill out there that started my period but doesn't stop me from getting pregnant
623922 tn?1223406991 My DH and I have been ttc for over 2 years. I have been diagnosed with mild PCOS and mild endometriosis. I've been through one unsuccessful fresh and frozen ivf cycle. Because I can't afford to go through another round of ivf right now my gyn prescribed 500mg of Metformin to help with ovulation. I know that I ovulate but she thinks the Metformin/Glucophage might help me. Has anyone been on Metformin that can tell me what to expect?
Avatar f tn I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.
Avatar n tn why do my glucophage tablets give off a first smell and taste impression of being mouldy?
182352 tn?1231183410 my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy. thanks so much.
Avatar n tn Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children? GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in combination with other oral glucose-control medicines or insulin in children. If you have any questions about the use of GLUCOPHAGE in children, talk with your doctor or other healthcare provider.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS too. I was diagnosed with it about 8 years ago. In dealing with my PCOS I've found that there is nothing predictable about it. At the heart of the matter, PCOS is an endocrine disorder, which basically means it messes with your hormones big time. It actually goes a LOT deeper than that and is something which I cannot fully explain because I just don't fully understand it. Nor do any of the experts so how can we?
Avatar f tn I too am on Metformin and have lost 6 lbs within a month and a few days...I haven't had a period yet...hoping I'm preggo, but it doesn't seem likely...so I'm going to phone OB/GYN Monday...
Avatar n tn Hello~ 33 yr old female w/ PCOS & was diagnosed w/type 2 6 yrs ago. I was not happy & revised my eating habits along w/ taking 500 mg of glucophage 2x daily. It took @ 1 1/2 yr, but I lost 50lbs & my b/s levels dropped to where my dr was took me off glucophage. I did fine & was off glucophage for @ 2 years. I started reverting back to my old eating habits(did manage to stay away from any sugar, my problem was carbs & fast food).
Avatar n tn T NEED MORE INSULIN AND TO PREVENT ME FROM GAINING WEIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT GLUCOPHAGE WORKS ON YOUR LIVER AND PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING GLYCOGEN-WOULDN'T THAT BE DANGEROUS FOR ME IF I NEEDED THE GLYCOGEN DURING A POTENTIALLY BAD EPSIODE OF HYPOGLYCEMIA? I HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKING AN ACE INHIBITOR FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) TO PREVENT RENAL HYPERTENSION (I HAVE HAD TYPE 1 FOR 23 YEARS) AND THE DR. TOLD ME I DIDN'T NEED IT AND TO DISCONTINUE ANY ACE INHIBITORS.
Avatar m tn With all due respect Msniki412, Metformin"glucophage" is not always the answer and nor does it always help. The question is why did an otherwise healthy women get pcos? and why if she already eats healthy and exercizes normally should she need a medication like glucophage for border line insuline resistance/insuline resistance aka diabetes? why would a healthy woman who like i said before eats well, excersizes routinely be subject to pcos in the first place?
229439 tn?1245812437 My 3rd try was successful and im now 15wks pg. I also had a cyst with the last IUI and it grew right along witht the pg and the MD said it was actually giving good hormones to the little bean. Its gone now. And actually with the clomid, bravelle and trigger shot, I felt so balanced for the first time in about a year. I think my body needed those hormones to function properly since I don't think I was getting them before b/c of PCOS. So, hang in there.
194838 tn?1303428544 Hi, I am taking Glucophage (slow release Metformin) and have just been prescribed Januvia to take also. I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them, the plus side is that I have lost weight so am very happy about that but wondered if anyone else has experienced the stomach pain and if so how long did it take for it to subside. If anyone has any advice etc I would be so grateful.
Avatar f tn Are you ttc? Did you have unprotected sex? Do you know when you ovulate? The only way that it could be implantation is that you would of had to have sex. I think you should get the blood test done to see if you are pregnant. You should also do the pap. How long where you taking the glucophage before your cycles came down on a monthly basis and how much were you taking? What is byetta? Good Luck!!!
Avatar f tn Hi, I also have pcos i was diagnosed about 7 months ago, my husband and I have been ttc for almost 3 years. Are you on metformin? It regulates hormones and in some cases can help you get pregnant, it is not a fertility treatment so you should not have to wait a year. You should see a reproductive endocrinologist they can put you on metformin.
Avatar f tn I have hypothryoid disease ( all new to me ) and my doctor has perscribed glucophage to me to helped with irreglar menstral cycles.

179624 tn?1210096474 I am on my 5th month with clomid (started 2 mo. 50mg, 100 mg for 2 mo. and will go 1 more mo. with 150.) and am going for my cd 21 bloodwork on the 19th. I track with OPKs at home though, and according to them, I haven't Oed. My question is "What do you think that the next thing that we try should be?" I am wanting to talk to my doctor about taking another approach at getting me to O. I will never be able to get pregnant if I don't ovulate.
1500096 tn?1292945593 I used birth control pills for a year of which i had a regular cycle. I stopped using the pills after i got married and my cycle became very irregular. Since then, i've been unable to conceive. Any time my menstrual cycle becomes regular and i have sexual intercourse with my husband, menses ceases for months until i take some drugs that would be prescribed by the doctor.
419158 tn?1316571604 I have never had too much trouble TTC except with #3 and that is all I basicly did and I eventually got pregnant after almost 2 years but with er its been 6!! I would love to get a phone call from her telling me she got a BFP!!
Avatar f tn Are you taking Metformin/Glucophage or any other medications? Are you exercising and eating correctly? How long have you been TTC? Have you tried taking low-dose birth control get your cycles a "jumpstart"? This will all make a big difference in helping you conceive. Let me know if you need/want any other information!
1546050 tn?1293688410 She then decided that I must be insulin resistant and put me on Glucophage 1 in the evening without even doing any tests or telling me anything about an eating plan etc. I am now following a low GI eating plan I got on the internet. My question is - should I be on Glucophage if I was not properly tested for insulin resistance and if my sugar test came out within normal range?
