Avatar n tn T NEED MORE INSULIN AND TO PREVENT ME FROM GAINING WEIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT GLUCOPHAGE WORKS ON YOUR LIVER AND PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING GLYCOGEN-WOULDN'T THAT BE DANGEROUS FOR ME IF I NEEDED THE GLYCOGEN DURING A POTENTIALLY BAD EPSIODE OF HYPOGLYCEMIA? I HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKING AN ACE INHIBITOR FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) TO PREVENT RENAL HYPERTENSION (I HAVE HAD TYPE 1 FOR 23 YEARS) AND THE DR. TOLD ME I DIDN'T NEED IT AND TO DISCONTINUE ANY ACE INHIBITORS.

Avatar f tn Thank you, PastorDan. I read something about Metformin that said if you have weakness, to not take Metformin and I sure don't need to add to my symptoms. I hope your wife is doing well today. Is she in alot of pain? I hope they can help her with the liver disease. I don't think I realized fatty liver could cause chirosis. That's kind of scary! I've had a fatty liver for many years. I really need to lose alot of weight but my insurance doesn't cover weight loss.

Avatar f tn d ever been tested. I know about Lactic Acidosis risks with liver disease and glucophage, plus the alcohol, anti-depressants, and that he is making a grave mistake not learning about his disease and medications, but...he won't even let me explain. Does the RNA level mean anything significant? Does it indicate progression of the disease? Or is it like ALT/AST means something but doesn't tell you much?
Avatar n tn Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children? GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in combination with other oral glucose-control medicines or insulin in children. If you have any questions about the use of GLUCOPHAGE in children, talk with your doctor or other healthcare provider.
Avatar n tn The Gastroenterologist recommended Liver Biopsy to check for liver damage. This is a scary procedure and I wanted to know if there are other alternative procedure/processes. Also, is there something I can do or treaments I can receive to treat this problem. I weight 122 lbs, and 5'4 tall. I take Glucophage XR, Januvia, Glipizide ER, Avapro (to prevent kidney damage, not hypertensive), Calcium with Vit D, Fish oil, Loratidine (hives as needed) and Zantac.

182352 tn?1231183410 my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy. thanks so much.

Avatar f tn I am a 30 year old female, relatively healthy (aside from some autoimmune problems). I am taking coumadin (for an autoimmune blood clotting disorder), glucophage, and singulair. I recently had a physical and had some "blips" in my blood work. here are the blips with normal ranges in (). I am concerned about these numbers, especially the liver function tests. I have a call in to my dr, but she can't see me this week. The nurse who did the blood work suggested that it is mono.
194838 tn?1303428544 Hi, I am taking Glucophage (slow release Metformin) and have just been prescribed Januvia to take also. I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them, the plus side is that I have lost weight so am very happy about that but wondered if anyone else has experienced the stomach pain and if so how long did it take for it to subside. If anyone has any advice etc I would be so grateful.
Avatar f tn I think that the approach of doctors is right in getting your sugar profile and liver and kidney function tests being got done.A HbA1C would also help in confirming the diagnosis. Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted about your lab reports or if you have any additional queries.
Avatar n tn t eat meat and jog 3 miles almost 5 times a week. I am prediabetic and very likely to get heart disease stroke and other fatal complications as I grow older. Please advise me how to cure PCOS. Is there any way to reduce testerone level, which seems to be the root cause. All I am doing right now is controlling symptoms by trying to reduce insulin resistance. But that is not a permanent cure. Does exercising, weight lifting increase testerone production in my body? I need correct answers.
Avatar n tn I have never heard darkening skin as a symptom of thyroid disease. You should see a Dr. Just a guess, but it could be due to an Adrenal issue.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 24 yr old female and I am currently experiencing nausea after every meal, it started about a week ago. My gynae put me on Glucophage a little bit more then a month ago, but it couldnt be that as these symptoms have only started in the past week. I am also frequently going to the loo ( for a no2 ) shortly after every meal... My GP has checked for viruses and so on through blood tests and he says everything looks good and I'm healthy.
Avatar n tn I am not over weight or suffer from heart disease. She gave me this to reduce the rapid growth of unwanted body hair. Does this sound normal? Can this cause other health problems?

Avatar f tn I am really trying to see if my sister's condition has anything to do with her being given this shot. Last time she was given it was April 2013, she is currently in the hospital fighting for her life!! So with all the warnings about if you have a liver disease you shouldn't be taking this shot and the doctors are advising her liver isn't functioning and for it to be as far gone as it is, if she had come to hospital a year ago they wouldn't have been able to do anything!!
Avatar f tn Autoimmune disorders Sometimes a body’s immune system may begin to attack the liver or bile ducts causing inflammation and scarring which leads to a progressive form of liver disease. Examples of liver diseases believed to be caused by the immune system are primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and autoimmune hepatitis.
Avatar n tn If your report says that your bilirubin is high, then you probably have jaundice (jaundice is the accumulation of bilirubin under the skin) and some type of liver disease that needs further testing and diagnosis. My two cents. Take care and God bless.
Avatar f tn I was going thru a bottle of vodka every 2 to 3 days. I started having discomfort in the liver area with nausea fatigue and dry mouth. Had an lft done all normal. Still felt sick and went to the hospital lft normal except elevated bilirubin ultrasound normal. Had another lft couple of weeks after bilrubin down to 1.3. And another normal ultrasound. I still deal with right quadrant pain fatigue and nausea.
