is glipizide 10mg the same as glyburide 5mg / because my husband was drinking the gyburide and when we went for the new prescription it had changed to glipizide and he hasn't felt good since the change do i call his doctor

Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.

I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. First time on all these meds and my sugar levels were fine on lisonpril. Could one of thse being causing the high readings. My diet is the same if not lower in sugar and calories.

Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.

There are several people here who have had expereince with blood sugar problems and treatment. Some used stuff like metformin or even insulin throughout treatment. My expereience was that high blood sugar levels went away while on treatment. That was a result of the red cell killing abilities of the ribavirin.

I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

I have elevated liver enzymes due to hepatic adenoma. Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?

i have problems lower my blood sugar. I take 2500mg metforman, 10mg glipizide per day. My morning blood sugar averages 146-162, mid-day average 110-113 and night average 138-168. I can't get morning levels down. At times my level drops at work and i have to find something sweet to bring blood sugar up. can anyone help me?

That happened to me with metformin and my doctor switched me to glipizide. Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.

Hello.........you are not alone...I have been having effects of metformin and glipizide since May 27, 2015. I am going into the clinic tomorrow. My pharmacist said "oh there is a bug going around". This is clearly not a bug this is either the meds are in too warm of a temperature and not being as effective or I've got another kidney infection. Been up with abdominal pain, bloating, gas ..just can't get comfortable and my numbers are not coming down as fast as they were.

Hi, I am typell diabetic and one of my worst problems is that I get multiple abcesses in my armpits,breasts, vaginal, and rear areas. Most are in my armpits and i have one in my left and 4 in my right right now. They largest I've had is about3". What can I do to keep them from coming back? Also, none of them will heal and fully drain. It's been over 2 weeks and one started bleeding bright red blood for a day. It's back to a slow ooze but I am worried they are still there.
