1713150 tn?1314467342 htm Copaxone is not an interferon - it is a glatiramer acetate - and it also works to get our immune system to work for us and not against us. My neuro likens copaxone to taking the bad cells down to the corner bar, getting them drunk and singing karaoke with them so they forget to do all the bad stuff they had planned. The experts aren't quite sure why copaxone works, but it does. It is made up of amino acids, all of which occur naturally in our body.
Avatar n tn Dear Dr. My A1C was a 6.0 and my cpeptide was low (do not know the numbers) my physician stated that i may be having the "HoneyMoon" effect. I have been a diabetic for 5 years. Is that possilbe? Will I 100% have to go on insulin? I Spoke with another physician and he informed me that the C Peptide is inaccurate, depending on what lab do the test. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/370369'>low c-peptide</a>.
378497 tn?1232143585 Treatment with glatiramer acetate or the interferon may limit the number of new black holes that became permanent; i.e., reduce progression of brain atrophy, and the interferon seemed to be slightly better at it. There is no control (i.e., untreated) group for comparison of how well the ************** worked vs. no treatment at all.
382218 tn?1341181487 New data presented provided evidence that long-term treatment with COPAXONE® (glatiramer acetate injection) may offer sustained protection from neuronal/axonal injury. This protective effect was reflected biologically by a significant increase in N-acetylaspartate (NAA), a specific marker of neuronal mitochondrial function, in treated versus non-treated relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients.
Avatar f tn 4 months ago, my 11 year old daughter was diagnosed to have juvenile DM - insulin dependent Type I DM and since then was put on insulin injections. her c peptide was recently taken and revealed a result of 35.4 ng/ml with serum insulin IRMA of 18.8 u IU / ml and fasting blood sugar of 131 mg / dl. what do these values reveal of her condition?
Avatar f tn You can ask your doctor for a C-Peptide test along with an insulin test. Insulin and C-peptide are produced by the body at the same rate as part of the conversion of proinsulin to insulin in the pancreas. The test for insulin measures insulin from both sources while the C-peptide test reflects insulin produced by the pancreas. Reference values are dependent on many factors, including patient age, gender, test method, and numeric test results can have different meanings in different labs.
Avatar m tn C-Peptide, Serum (CLIA) 2.91 ng/mL 25 - Hydroxy Vitamin D3 (ECLIA) 28.75 nmol/L HbA1c 7.70 I was advised to take Cetapin XR 500 mg. It was helping and the levels came down. From last 3 - 4 months, the levels start increasing. I consulted the doctor again and he advised me to take Glimy-M (2 mg) and for the tests again.

Avatar f tn My daughter was just diagnosed about a month ago with what they think is type 1 diabetes. She had weight loss, extreme thirst and urination as well as some weakness & fatigue. She went to the college health services and had a fasting blood glucose test done. It came back with a level of 252. She had a few keytones in her urine as well. That day they sent her to an Endocrinologist. There they started her immediately on insulin.
Avatar f tn Recently, a faith healer told me I have had calcification of the thyroid. So, I went to an endocrinologist and had my labs drawn. He seemed to suspect insulin resistance, but that turned out ok. Most of the labs came back normal, including my TSH levels, which are in mid-range of normal, so clearly fine. The T4 and C-peptide levels are a little low though, so endocrinologist's notes say he will be putting me on 1/2 tablet per week. Can anyone interpret any of that for me?
Avatar m tn t realized that the kit contains antigen.. Instruction guide said that test strip contains synthetic peptide for HIV envelope. What is synthetic peptide for HIV envelope?? Is it HIV virus? Is it infectious or not?? I have a scar in my finger. I touched test strip with that finger... so I'm very worried please help me. Thank you!!
558059 tn?1288550944 Besides having another autoimmune condition such as thyroid some of the other indicators are age (though I myself was older when diagnosed), normal weight or weight loss prior to and after diagnosis, doing well on typical type 2 treatments for awhile (a few months to 4 years) but then seeing slowly rising numbers. Another indicator is the c-peptide test which shows how much insulin your body is actually producing.

1831849 tn?1383228392 Last time my injection training nurse was over, she mentioned this trial to me. I feel very ambivalent about it, since I would LOVE to inject less often, but I think going off my daily schedule might lead me to forget to inject once in a while... I'm obsessed with compliance.
Avatar m tn , in 1993, at 37 yrs age, I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type II, since then I have been taking the insulin injection (huminsulin), but this week my fasting C-peptide came out 0.1 and my Dr said that it is almost nill, and recommended I should go on insulin pump. I don't know how to take this information? Is it that now my body has started showing signs of deterioration, and I need to watch out for further/additional complications?
