4658567 tn?1364142123 I was alternating pricking my fanger before then after breakfast the first day then before and after breakfast again but then an hr after lunch and dinner that same day. I was borderline and one doctor was even trying to put me on insulin cause of my blood sugar first thing in the morning was a little high but I changed my diet and exercised everyday and then my levels went down.
Avatar n tn They ha e me testing my blood sugar 4 times a day. First thing in the am, then 2 hours after eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Insurance should cover the equipment. 2 times a day isn't really going to give you a clear enough picture. Do that for a couple weeks and then discuss it with your dr. Mine won't let me back of the testing even though I have proven to be able to control with my own eating habits. The diet the dietician put me on made my numbers higher.
Avatar f tn Hello, it is better to be slightly low than slightly high during pregnancy. Just monitor closely and take a small snack if you are lower than about 70.
Avatar f tn t too hard and i also have a good amount of knowledge on nutrition and have a close friend with diabetes so i know how she eats. and another important part to stabilize and regulated your blood sugar is too eat frequently which is whats with all the snacks. hope this helps some more.
1285850 tn?1291776435 Every baby has the possibility of getting any problem related to gestational diabetes though. It's not your fault! When were getting bigger we don't have much stomach room which causes our body to not have a lot of room to break down our sugars which can cause high sugar levels in any pregnant woman. Even if you have gestational diabetes then don't worry because many people have had healthy babies with it!
Avatar f tn Your sugar levels are highest in the morning so u want to avoid anything high in sugar or carbs for breakfast. Try eating smaller portions rather than few larger meals.
Avatar f tn Anybody with gestational diabetes when do you know when your sugar is to low or to high...
Avatar f tn My glucose tolerance test was negative but my fast was high. The GD clinic put me on tests 4times a day. Wake up, then 2hours after breakfast, lunch and dinner. Diet is the best way to control it. My dietitian told me no juice, pop. I have had to begin insulin at 18 weeks at bedtime. Unfortunately here we use a different number system.
141601 tn?1264728709 I have gestational diabetes and i have to test before breakfast and 2 hours after breakfast, lunch and dinner.
2186195 tn?1339430622 So i found out about a week and a half ago I have gestational diabetes. I saw the nutritionist and she gave me a diet to follow. she gave me ideas on what foods to eat, but basically said I can eat anything just watch the carbs. I am supposed to eat 30carbs for breakfast, 60carbs for lunch and dinner, and 3 snacks that are 30carbs each. I am to check my blood sugar 4 times a day, and it should stay between 60-90 in the morning and 90-120 all day.
Avatar f tn here I was given a 75gm glucose drink and after 2 hrs of having the drink my blood was tested. Results were 196 which is pretty high. I was given 1 weeks tym to control blood sugar with diet...... I stopped eating high sugar fruits, pastries, ice creams, sweets, etc. I eat whole wheat along with proteins, milk, fruits like orange and other citrus fruits. No juices. Lots of vegetables. No potato, beetroots, carrots. I eat lil rice for lunch. I walk after every large meal for 20 mins.
Avatar f tn I do with this pregnancy. Mine is diet controlled. Most likely it will go away after delivery.
Avatar f tn My test is in 9 days! Yikes! My midwife told me that with gestational diabetes, if you don't control your carbohydrate and sugar load that your pancreas goes into overdrive and then the baby's pancreas starts working for your body which is dangerous for baby. If you can cut out carbs as much as you can (preferably the bad carbs) and NO cokes... Not even the diet kind...
Avatar f tn I had to do 3urine test that came back high sugar in my urine then I did my fasting glucose tollarance test at 10wks and came back neg everything was fine :) then the dr just asked if I wash with soap or use wipes or lotion down there (I don't ) but that can affect it too. Don't worry you also possibily didn't wipe correctly doing the clean catch.
Avatar f tn 2200 calorie diet, 30 grams of carbs at breakfast, 60 at lunch and 60 at dinner. A snack after each checkof my blood sugar. Snacks can't be any more than 30g of carbs. I check my blood sugar first thing in the morning, and two hours after each meal so 4 times a day. If your tests come back positive that you have gd they will send you to a dietician who will explain what you're allowed to have and how much you can have.
Avatar f tn I spoke with a nutritionist and diabetes educator who helped me find a meal plan that works best for my schedule, but I make sure to eat every 2-3 hours and test my blood sugar 2hours after each meal. I am at the end of week two with my new routine and it is becoming easier. I also have not been able to stablize my sugars with just diet so I had to begin medication. There are a few oral meds that help before you have to resort to insulin injections.
287071 tn?1365192513 Lots of water, go easy on juice and sweets. Fruit juice has a very high concentration of sugar, if you are loving juices right now, water them down a little. Watch the starches too..all of these were suggestions when I failed my one hour test.
Avatar f tn I just found out my test came back positive for gestational diabetes. You ladies who have had it, do you have any advice and what foods to eat and not to eat. I'm freaking out a bit any advice would be great!
Avatar f tn When I took my glucose test I was 90 when fasting and 126 after a large breakfast. 140 was the cutoff for gestational diabetes in my test, so 126 was a little high they said.
Avatar f tn I do not eat any sugar or foods containing sugar. I eat a lot of veg and salad. Bran flakes for breakfast. It has improved my blood sugar levels. But not enough as i need it to. What helps you?
Avatar f tn Sometimes I barely eat anything for a meal and my blood sugar level comes so high. For instance I ate a quarter bowl of rice with a grilled pork chop and lots of steamed vegetables for dinner and walked after my meal and my blood sugar level was 9.7. Has anyone had this problem? I really do not want to take insulin. I am also very petite and haven't been putting on pounds since I started this diet.
Avatar f tn t eat fruit in the mornings because makes sugar go sky high... For me and mg dietician said same. Cereals are a big no for me at least.. Tried lactose milk different milks healthy cereals and small tiny half cup portions and still haven't found what works for me...

Avatar f tn Yes I am a ftm, I new they were doing the test that morning but idiot me didn't eat so my husband and I grabbed breakfast burritos and basically hurry up and ate them in the parking lot of the hospital before my appointment and drank a thing of orange juice
Avatar f tn Cheese, yogurt and nuts are my most fulling snacks. Also if your blood sugar is high try avoiding starch, it work for me. Be careful too get enough glucides but from nutritious food.
Avatar n tn except after breakfast. It spikes to well over 140 (my doctor wants me to keep it under 130) and then crashes an hour later more than 50 points. It makes me feel *awful*. I eventually recover, but I spend hours throughout the morning where I can't concentrate at all, I get dizzy doing anything that makes me walk around, and I'm constantly squeezing my eyes shut to try to get rid of the blurry vision. I don't eat a bad breakfast, please don't think that.
