Thank you for your input. I should say the clinic did give me the simvastatin first but then switched to Lipitor. They themselved said it was better. I've heard of Lipitor going generic in a few years - maybe that influenced their decision to switch patients now.
I just can't understand how they can override the cardiologist without any chance of appeal. I will speak to him again and see if he thinks he should intervene.
Generic Levothyroxine is not held to the same quality standards during manufacture that Synthroid is. Every time you get your perscription refilled you are taking the risk of taking a different strength of medication.
That's why it's cheaper, and that's why smart doctors won't perscribe it.
Lipitor should not be taken by anyone taking Levothyroxine, either.
As for the superiority of socialized medicine, don't even start.
Sorry. I forgot to ask if your Dr did a fasting blood sugar test. You have to fast for at least 12 hours. Even if you have a little milk with coffee before the test it can raise your blood sugar levels.

When did you start the Zoloft? I'm asking because anger and personality chances could be a side effect of this med.
I had no problems at all with that med. Then when the generic for Lipitor came out, she put me on that. I guess to save me money.
I was having constant daily headaches. Neurologist treated it as Migraines. MRI was normal. Still having some migraines weekly now. But my neurologist says I'm fine and that I am clear to return to work. I told him what all else I was feeling in my head and he just blew it off.
10 mg/day of atorvastain (generic versin of Lipitor.) I started having muscle aches, so I take Co-Q10 every night (200 mgs.) It helps, but truth be told, I'm always in pain all over my body; I just suck it up (I have high pain tolerance.)

If you are worried, get your blood work done after a certain length of time to make sure that the LDL numbers are going down. Another good way to drop LDL levels is to eliminate red meat from your diet if you haven't already done so. Mine dropped tremendously from 129 to 79 for LDL in a years time.
Finally, the PF people at Pfizer told me that while the firm recommends that the Lipitor pills NOT be broken in half or cut in half, they do say that it is perfectly okay to do this under doctor's prescription or recommendation, and that there is no negative downside at all to cutting Lippy in half. However, they do recommend not breaking them if no need to. So there. Case solved. Happy camper I am.
In Canada there is a generic form if you cannot get assistance from Novartis (the makers)

A friend of mine gets his Depakote from there it is so much cheaper, Trileptal I think in generic was $43 for 100 (150mg) generics. Check it out, they will tell you who makes it and what country, most are from Canada.

Abbot does not make Synthroid.
They make generic levothyroxine.
THIS link says Euthyrox is marked flint, but the manufacturer is not listed. It's a Canadian site, and Abbot has a plant in Canada, so maybe they market a generic and a brand name.
