Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
1872406 tn?1320890391 We rescued a little kitten approx 6 weeks old who has been diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis. The prognosis by the vet is poor and I'm wondering if there is anything else we can do other than keep her hydrated and treat/prevent secondary infections. Please help- really appreciate any advice or past experience that you may have... Thanks in advance...
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.

232921 tn?1224471661 One nice feature of HEPTIMAX is that it doesn't require a lot of numbers to order... just have the doctor/nurse write the name HEPTIMAX, along with diagnostic ICD-9 code for hepatitis c on the lab order; shouldn't be confusion with this at all.
Avatar m tn Cardiomyopathy was caused by viral infection. I remember 20 years ago when my cardiologist told me that "viral" meant he didn't know what caused it. Just got home from work. Had a near-syncope episode at work again. This is so perplexing, frustrating and scary. I had been improving and feeling great for so long and then this just suddenly appears. I have cut way back on alcohol consumption, weight is perfect. Trigs and chol are low.
3072999 tn?1356414732 Hi Tink, I am actually a medical coder for a hospital -the ICD-10 code would be G93.5. The ICD-9 code is 384.4. Since ICD-9 is not very specific they may have put a I after to show it is a Chiari Malformation type 1. In ICD-10 it is more specific - G93.5 states Chiari Malformation 1. So I am assuming since the ICD-9 code of 384.4 just states compression of brain they had to add a 1 so it was more specific for their notes.

Avatar f tn Assuming the symptoms are acute, this is likely to be a case of viral gastroenteritis. You could try taking plenty of fluids to keep yourself adequately hydrated and some OTC anti spasmodics for the pain. If the pain is severe, of you have dizziness or blood in stools or the diarrhoea does not seem to get better in 4-5 days, it is advised to see a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar n tn Hello, Some symptoms of viral infection of the abdomen like in viral gastroenteritis may prolong for some time(10-12) days after treatment of infection also. This is due to effect of virus on the stomach causing its irritation. Since it happened after a viral infection,so causes could be dehydration and decreased amount of minerals like sodium and potassium in the body.It can also occur because of hypoglycemia or improper sleep during the infection.
