Avatar n tn Blood transfusions are safe these days, you're stuck on the fear of a transfusion based on incidents where people acquired HIV early on in the epidemic. The blood supply is safe, your daughter has no HIV concerns. You need to listen to your daughter's doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?

Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar m tn AIDS acute period will appear similar to the symptoms of acute gastroenteritis? Symptoms lasted for about four days, infusion improvement in 3 days. It is the acute phase of AIDS symptoms?
Avatar f tn You need to be monitored closely by a hepatologist. The symptoms that you describe are symptoms of your liver not working well causing you to become more and more ill. Having a hepatologist in a liver transplant center means that as you become more ill, you will already be an established patient in the transplant center, and you will have the right team of people around you. As Hector mentioned, it is important for you to know the exact state of the health of your liver.

Avatar f tn But its specifically on my side, not my back or tummy. Its been a week since symptoms started. Symptoms include a constant achy feeling in the area, sharp pains in the area when i lay down or move positions or laugh or cough. I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left.
Avatar f tn Hello, Without examination it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but some of the possibilities for your symptoms are gastroenteritis and dehydration. Drink plenty of water as dehydration can lead to electrolyte imbalance which in turn can lead to low BP and hence dizziness. Hypoglycemia, anemia, infections, endocrine disorders like thyroid, adrenal glands, and pituitary gland disorders can also lead to dizziness and nausea. What about your last menstrual periods.
Avatar m tn I would agree that it is far more likely that your symptoms are due to a gastroenteritis that ARS. I would say this is the case for three reasons. They are: 1. Your exposure was no risk. HIV is not spread without penetration and the simple act of getting a partner's genital secretions on you, even near a site such as your anus, is still no risk. 2. Your partner said he did not have HIV and most people do tell the truth about such things. 3.
Avatar m tn Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If still the symptoms persist, then you may need an antibiotic for the gut and would need to see a doctor. If after the antibiotic course too the symptoms persist, then there is a chance that you have developed either IBS or some food intolerance. In that case you would need to consult a gastroenterologist. Take care!
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
993134 tn?1284921772 Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If still the symptoms persist, then you may need an antibiotic for the gut and would need to see a doctor. Please go through as advised. In all probability things will settle down. At any time you feel that symptoms are worsening (more than 8-10 loose stools in 24 hrs, vomiting, feeling faint, high fever etc) please go to the ER. Meanwhile call up your doctor and find out whether a change in antibiotic is required or not.
Avatar f tn Hi It could be a case of gastroenteritis (gut infection) which has led to diarrhea and vomiting. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are diarrhea and vomiting although one or the other symptom may predominate. If the symptoms persist (>1 day), worsen or lead to other complications you should consult your doctor who could order some tests such as stool examination etc. In the meanwhile take rest and drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.

Avatar n tn My doctor said I have gastroenteritis. However, these symptoms have been persistent now for 10 days. Gastroenteritis usually lasts about 3-7 days. Is it possible that I aquired HIV from the prostate massage and my symptoms of nauseau, diareah, fever and night sweats are really ARS? My last HIV test was 9 months ago and it was negative. Avatar f tn I also have anxiety because before I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis I would be searching up my symptoms on the internet so I pretty much scared myself half to death with all the things I saw. Now my poop floats, is yellow, and when I flush the toilet the strikes of poop stick to the sides. I don't know what I might have. Thank you for taking you're time to read my summary.
Avatar n tn which cleared with metronidazole.). We all had fever, severe watery diarrhea (10+ BMs a day) and all symptoms I listed above, lasting for at least four weeks for everyone, and up to four months for some! My diarrhea went down to three to six stools a day, and stayed that way. The symptoms are disabling because along with the diarrhea I feel weak, exhausted, achy, and sick all day - like I have the "stomach flu".
