Bush starting the war in Iraq is the biggest blunder in US history. Obama was against it. The way Rumsfeld and Bush and the Republican led House and Senate fought the war was a complete disaster. The so called surge ( which was just an escalation of the occupation) to control this huge disaster has brought things under control, for now.
