gastroenteritis

Avatar f tn I've had a low-grade Fever of Unknown origin for 7 weeks as I write this, with extreme exhaustion. I have been through extensive testing and had many things ruled out, like Mono, Lyme, UTIs, tumors. I've had CT Scan of abdominal area, Blood Cultures, Urine cultures, Chest X-ray. I tried a week of Cipro as I was sure I had a UTI (my fever started the day after sex), and my pain went away but my fever and fatigue remain. I am seeing an Infectious Disease Doctor in 4 weeks.
Avatar f tn As you mentioned that he has been having this pain on and off, I think it could be of infectious origin. I would suggest that you get a scrotal ultrasound and visit a urologist for physical examination and confirmation of the diagnosis. Best.
Avatar m tn Because of the bruise of unknown origin, I suggest you see a doctor. It could be a vascular problem or a blood disorder. I sincerely hope it is only gastroenteritis. Please see a doctor asap.
Avatar f tn What would be the consequences of going undiagnosed over two years , only to find out it is a serious form of coccioidomycosis, after a month long+ fever of unknown origin? Chronic increasingly uncontrolled coughing ; symptoms and lessions in multiple places . Now what ? Is there any hope ? What possible treatment could there be after all this time ?
Avatar n tn Aside from exposure to a cold environment, viral and bacterial infections such as bacterial gastroenteritis, infectious mononucleosis, pneumonia, strep throat and urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis may be the underlying cause. If it persists, it is best that you have this evaluated further for proper diagnosis. You may benefit from a referral to an infectious disease specialist also. Take care and do keep us posted.

The found a soft tissue mass on ct scan that was there 2 years ago but has not grown - went into colon and could not see it.

Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar f tn I acquired what was presumed to be HSV in mid November. Approximately a week after my first symptoms, I started to develop sores under my arm, down my legs, arms, on my face, back, neck, etc. I was placed on 3,000mg of Valtrex a day for over a month and was taking Percocet for the pain. I had active sores all over my body through the end of December and still have smaller but painful sores in the genital region and down my legs.

Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar m tn Alternatively the diarrhea may be infectious in origin (not a side effect of the chemo drugs), particularly if there is associated fever. If this is the case, your wife should consult with her oncologist because she may need to be given antibiotics for it.
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm without examination, but it sounds like gastroenteritis. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.Dizziness is caused by loss of water and electrolyte imbalance because of vomitings. Take adequate fluids throughout the day. The BRAT diet (ie, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) or soft easily digestible semisolid diet can also be taken. Antimicrobial therapy is indicated for some bacterial gastroenteritis infections.
Avatar m tn I agree with whisperwolf that you should see a pulmonologist to determine the origin of your coughing so it can be treated appropriately. If you don't get the results you desire with a pulmonologist, maybe you should see an infectious diseases specialist.
Avatar m tn I received a positive result for HSV II (1.64) that I now believe to be a false positive result based on comments from the doctors to me and in other posts as well as no outbreaks have occured in 7 months since possible exposure. I now wonder about the accuracy of the statistics about the number of people that are infected. "1 in 5 adults" are infected.
601038 tn?1240252893 Sorry, nauty, I disagree about the automobiles. The only true piece of junk I ever drove was an Opel made by Isuzu...bleeaack! Cost a fortune to keep repairing the same things over and over! All of our American made autos have ben pretty good(except for my '78 Monte Carlo, which was a beautiful car, but also cost a fortune to keep up). But, honestly, I'm a little ticked at big companies of any kind right now with all of the boo-hoo bailout nonsense. Who the heck is gonna bail US out???!?
