gastroenteritis

Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar n tn thught it was noro because of the intense, fast onset of vomiting, chills, diarhea and short lived symptoms. about 12 hours and then just felt tired, weak, fatique ... had noro once before and went to ER and thought this seemed exactly the same pretty much.
Avatar f tn Hi It could be a case of gastroenteritis (gut infection) which has led to diarrhea and vomiting. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are diarrhea and vomiting although one or the other symptom may predominate. If the symptoms persist (>1 day), worsen or lead to other complications you should consult your doctor who could order some tests such as stool examination etc. In the meanwhile take rest and drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.

Avatar n tn my twelve year old son has been vomiting for the past week. He says he feels fine and he has a regular appetite. The only other symptom he has if that he is hurting on his right lower side. He has had no fever. The doctor checked his blood and urine this morning and said it all looks fine. Of course they won't keep him at school when he is vomiting. What could possibly be wrong that needs to be checked that the Dr. is missing?
Avatar f tn So, it could be the stomach virus. You're still sick even if you inhibit vomiting. Glad that worked for you! The other possibility is that perhaps you had a touch of food poisoning but with your house having a stomach virus, likely you did as well and while the meds you took (don't take someone else's meds, take only what is prescribed by a doctor for you personally)--- stopped vomiting, it doesn't mean you didn't have the virus and other effects of it.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation? This leaves me wiped out for a couple of days with tenderness in stomach and right abdomen.
Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Is this a long term condition? If it is you could have Crohn's Disease or one of the Irritable Bowel / Gastroenteritis conditions. Night sweats, Nausea, Abdominal Pain are also associated with these conditions.

993134 tn?1284921772 im having vomiting withl traces of bloods also loose stools is it normal to having theese symptoms i was told it can take 10 days
Avatar f tn I cant eat or drink anything. Not even water. Even the thought of it makes me sick. I can be in the middle of eating and all of the sudden, I can't eat it anymore and if I try I can't even chew it up. Just the thought of chewing and swallowing makes me very nauseous. And I am throwing up and gaging even when I'm not eating too. But the symptoms seem to come and go. Because of the not eating enough, I have diarrhea that's green.
Avatar n tn m also currently having fairly severe pain in the muscles in my upper left arm, the left side of my neck under my chin and the left side of my lower jaw. These muscle pains prevent me from focusing on anything or sleeping. Is it possible that I have neither the flu nor a cold? I can't seem to find a match for my symptoms.
Avatar n tn But your persisting symptoms of vomiting could also indicate a viral gastroenteritis. The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. In the meantime take oral fluids. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I woke up Friday vomiting and diarrhea. The vomiting stopped after one day, but on Sunday, I still have diarrhea and my ovaries have hurt the entire time. My period is about to start, but my ovaries have never hurt more than 1 day before I start. Help!
Avatar m tn s a little worrying. Now, the first symptom was a very sudden onset of nausea followed by a night of vomiting, abdominal cramps, and abnormal bowel movements. The next day, I had very uncomfortable muscle aches, body chills, and a temperature of 101F. Today, my temperature has hovered around 100F and I've felt tired and achy but not sick to my stomach. I dug up some information, and it seems to me that vomiting isn't really a common ARS symptom (though fever and muscle aches are).
Avatar f tn My 16 month old boy has vomited every night for nearly 3 weeks. He vomits early hours of morning undigested food, which sometimes is what he had for breakfast. He has diarrhoea every morning usually 2-3 episodes. Generally he is in good form. Doctor tried rinitidine which doesn't seem to have helped. He has been referred to children's but I was just wondering what this could be.
Avatar n tn The prime one which needs to be ruled out is gastroenteritis. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis. Other possibilities are diabetes, cyclic vomiting syndrome, liver pathologies,ETEC infection and mesenteric adenitis. In my opinion, consulting a physician will be the best because without examination,I cannot confirm a diagnosis. Hope it helps.
