Avatar n tn Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers etc. Take ORS. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Take something for fever like acetaminophen. Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If it does not help, consult a doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn The subutex was the worst I think and found myself back on roxies and opanas because of the horrible wds. I am completely out of ideas. The physical wds are far easier than the emotional and mental ones. I have no idea what normal is like, but so want to know and live. I was put on medicines because of a car accident which broke my back in 3 places, then 5 years later had surgery to replace two collapsed vertabraes in my neck. But, I do not need pain medicines for pain. I am addicted to them.

Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.

Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar m tn Good Luck. My first thought was to ask you if you have any sick days that you can take... and then I thought, the best thing to do is keep yourself busy. Another important thing is to surround yourself with people and friends that do not share in your addiction... that way you won't be tempted... You may think you can say no and you may tell yourself that and maybe you can; but why go through the extra pain... So, back to keeping busy... Stay as busy as you can...
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm without examination, but it sounds like gastroenteritis. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.Dizziness is caused by loss of water and electrolyte imbalance because of vomitings. Take adequate fluids throughout the day. The BRAT diet (ie, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) or soft easily digestible semisolid diet can also be taken. Antimicrobial therapy is indicated for some bacterial gastroenteritis infections.
Avatar f tn The danger of gastroenteritis would come if you get dehydrated, which is dangerous to the baby. Avoid getting it, and Ii you do get it, stay hydrated, and go to the hospital to get an IV asap if you can't keep fluids down or if you can't keep up with the fluids you lose.
Avatar f tn Lipase can stay elevated for a couple of weeks after a bout of gastroenteritis or pancreatitis. How long has it been?
Avatar f tn On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?
Avatar n tn Short as compared to what? One man's "short" is another man's "long". It's mostly a matter of heredity and genes. Keep healthy, exercise, eat right, stay away from drugs, and enjoy what you have.
Avatar f tn My parents took me to the hospital 1 week ago because of gastroenteritis, and if I asked them too take me to the hospital they would get angry. So I'll just ask you guys here. Today my right hand pinky started twitching and still is. I saw a lot of scary things saying that it can be an underlying serious problem. I drink a tea every morning I'm overweight for my age 210 to be exact.
Avatar f tn A DO tends to look at the whole picture instead of just treating the symptom, so instead of giving you a sleeping pill, they will track down the thing that is throwing your system off and keeping you from sleeping.
Avatar f tn The pain is specifically on my left side, below the ribs, between the last rib and the hip bone. Right there in the fleshy area of the lower abdomen and going downwards towards the hip. But its specifically on my side, not my back or tummy. Its been a week since symptoms started. Symptoms include a constant achy feeling in the area, sharp pains in the area when i lay down or move positions or laugh or cough. I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis.
Avatar n tn Hello, Diarrhea and vomitings can be provoked either by an intestinal infection or by illness somewhere else in the body. When they begin suddenly, the problem is usually gastroenteritis (or stomach flu), most often caused by a virus and sometimes by bacteria and parasites. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.
