Just letting all of you know that Purina has come out with a powdered probiotic called Fortiflora that I have seen first hand help some dogs with bad cases of IBD. They make a feline version too but I haven't heard any feedback about that yet but I know of 2 dogs so far that were suffering with terrible bouts of gastroenteritis and colitis and they have been using this product and the diarrhea has stopped.

My 2yr old bulldog was healthy & got really poorly 4 weeks ago been to the vets 4 times & then they kept her in for 3 days & treated her for gastroenteritis she went into shock & her heart collapsed & died all on her own.
I wasn't there for & feel like she died thinking I didnt love her so she gave up.
I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV.
She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?

The cheesy white drainage makes me think it's follicular cysts. Basically, the hair follicles get clogged and the tiny sebaceous glands underneath can't drain properly which results in a pimple or cyst. Think of it along the lines of humans with certain kinds of acne. Like humans, some dogs just produce more oil in their skin, and there's not much to be done for it.
Especially since treatment for Churg-Strauss involves steroidal immunosuppresent therapy that could prove fatal in the presence of a parasite such as Strongyloides, as autoinfectious parasites such as Stronglyloides florish when the immune system is repressed, leading to rapid infection in atypical organs leading to organ failure.

Friday I went to work, Sat me and the man both spent the day in stomach flu misery. It only lasted about 8 hours, but I have not been that sick in years. How about you? Has it hit your house yet? Please keep this in mind while out and about doing your seasonal shopping in large crowds. Yuck doesnt even describe it!

There are times that human medications may be prescribed for you to use in your dog, but ONLY after a thorough physical exam and possible diagnostic testing to determine what is causing the problem. When laxatives are used in dogs or cats without the proper supervision, they have the potential to cause SERIOUS problems. Definitely seek out your veterinarian's help for your girl.

viral,bacterial and parasitic infections, contaminated food or water or change in bacteria that normally live in the intestinal tract.Chest pain that you are having is due to radiation of pain.
Take adequate fluids throughout the day. The BRAT diet (ie, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) or soft easily digestible semisolid diet can also be taken.You also need a course of antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or metronidazole.

Well certain viral infections can cause hemolyzed blood in urine. Check again in a day or two. If this persists then go back to your doctor. UTI and stone are the commonest cause. Cancers of urinary system or some drugs too cause blood in urine.

She has been sick since Sunday and has been diagnosed with pancreatis, which apparently is a common problem in dogs with Cushings. Currently she is in the hospital on IV fluids and IV antibiotics. We are very fortunate to have a very good local vet and her condition does seem improved, but we always have the option of taking her to University of PA veterinary hospital. They are wonderful compassionate people there and have been life savers for some of our other animals.
On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?
May be an abscess, infection, swollen lymph node. Either way, yes, you should have the Vet check it. May have to be lanced and the dog given antibiotics.
