Common Questions and Answers about Gastroenteritis how to cure

gastroenteritis

Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Extremely normal. Gastroenteritis (stomach virus) is inflammation. It can cause mild to extreme pains anywhere in your abdomen, though most feel it epigastrically. (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer.
Avatar n tn Blood transfusions are safe these days, you're stuck on the fear of a transfusion based on incidents where people acquired HIV early on in the epidemic. The blood supply is safe, your daughter has no HIV concerns. You need to listen to your daughter's doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
4503521 tn?1400858886 I don't kno what it is but its getting very hard to sleep at night laying on my sides even ***** and the nightmares don't help :-(
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed me amoxilin, an antibiotic for medication. He said the chest pain could be from a cold. They're hoping its not a infection in my lungs. My stomach pains are almost gone, but the chest pains are still remaining, and my cold symptoms worsened. I'm waiting until tomorrow to see how I feel, then i will decide whether to get a xray for my chest.
Avatar f tn Great to hear! It's so hard to care for a dog with IBD since there's no cure just management of the disease that's why I always try to pass along any info that could help others. I LOVE Dal's! Does yours do the dalmatian smile when he or she gets nervous or excited? We have alot that come to our clinic because of allergies and they always smile.
Avatar f tn Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) which you are way to young to have. It takes 20 years to build up enough plague in the coronary arteries to cause chest pains, you said you were only 19; the second problem would involve structural problems with the heart such as the thickness of the walls; you would have known about that, not only through the echo but by how you were able to function in daily life.

535089 tn?1400673519 Hi to all. I was recently Hospitalized with Gastroenteritis/Colitis and was wondering if anyone could give me some options for a good food regiment (liquid diet) that would help calm the intestines. I have had a recent infection including Colitis, Gastroenteritis (sp). I would also like to know what the best OTC antacid might be to calm the tummy. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?

Avatar f tn - [ ] fructose is one of the key carbohydrates involved in the regulation of the intestinal permeability and its overuse may cause harmful effects, such as tight junction protein dysfunction.
3183328 tn?1351183517 Hello, thanks for your response! My stools keep changing, like I'll have diarrhea 3-4 times one day and then I'll have more solid stools twice the next day. And before I have to go I have really bad cramping. I do have ovarian cysts, and I'm supposed to start my period soon, so maybe that's the cramping. But it's worrying me. I know I need to go to the doctor, but I have bad anxiety that I'm working on.
Avatar n tn came home and slept along time and now again. his upset stomic has progressed to legs hurting real bad. thats worse than stomic problem. is it a 24 hours flue or what? any other ideas? does it need to be a er trip?
Avatar m tn the sensation of not getting enough air into my lungs started shortly after a bout of gastroenteritis. after heart, lung, x-rays, and endoscopies, the only thing abnormal that was found was a hiatal hernia. my question now is, is it the hiatal hernia that is giving me this sensation, or did the stomach bug somehow mess up my nerves - making me more anxious/stressed which triggers this condition. anyone else experience a similar scenario? any suggestions?
Avatar m tn What your daughter needs are tools which will help her to learn how to control her anxieties/fears/stresses; I believe sm (as selective mutism is often called) is an anxiety disorder which cannot be cured but can be controlled and managed. Your daughter is not doing this on purpose; these traits were inherited (probably from both parents) at birth. The best site on the internet for information re this anxiety disorder is "selectivemutism.org" which I would urge you to peruse.
