Gastroenteritis diagnostic test

Common Questions and Answers about Gastroenteritis diagnostic test

gastroenteritis

Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn Hi, What initial diagnostic tests were done and what other symptoms are present? I understand your concern regarding your inability to stay warm and chills. Aside from exposure to a cold environment, viral and bacterial infections such as bacterial gastroenteritis, infectious mononucleosis, pneumonia, strep throat and urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis may be the underlying cause. If it persists, it is best that you have this evaluated further for proper diagnosis.

Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
1372734 tn?1309950237 So when I had done this bizzare test I asked why and what did it prove, he informed me they use it as a diagnostic test and if you have chiari it would push tonsil further down and you would not be able to track my finger. Anybody out there done this test before, all it did for me was give me pressure headache and today when I bend forward am am experiencing huge sharp pain in my head.
Avatar n tn I went to the hospital and the doctor after some research and a typical blood test told me that it is a gastroenteritis . Please help me cause since then I can't sleep , I am always thiniking of my family, my son and I am going to lose my mind.
Avatar f tn Her symptoms of chronic cough, nausea, throwing up, acid reflux, hair loss, trouble concentrating, low grade fever, back pain, stiff neck, fatigue, scalp sores, HIGH EOSINOPHIL COUNT, hearing loss, etc. continue to worsen. I am desperate for answers. She had a test for Lupus and it was negative, but her eosinophil count was extremely high. I have no idea if this is related to her other autoimmune disorders, but I thought this was a good place to start. Another thing.....
Avatar n tn day 4 I had a gastroenteritis, all my family had the same symptoms in the same time for 1.5 days(all specific symptoms to Gastroenteritis fever, vomiting, diarrhea for one day and fading down the last half day- maybe a norovirus) . >Day 7 i had the blood tests done - elevated transaminase levels. > week 3 conjunctivitis, > week 5.5 headache and fever up to 102 for less than a day. Next day i had a cold sore that healed in 1 week. > week 5.5 until week 6.
Avatar f tn out of anxiety and worry i went to get tested at 12 days after the encounter here at the std clinic in new york city and it came out (rapid finger prick test) Negative, and they took a tube of blood since i didnt take the test anonymously. That test also came back negative thankfully. i went back at the 5 week mark and 7 week mark to get tested and both came back negative.
Avatar f tn On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?
Avatar n tn Try not to read more into this result than there is. You should followup with the sonagram right away and talk with your physician about the results of the mammogram. The sonogram may be all the further testing you need, or may still be inconclusive. Your doctor may ask for an MRI or a biopsy. Take each step at a time and focus on what you know from each test. Try not to worry over "what-ifs." Worry just wastes your time and energy.
693811 tn?1245871706 My husband recently had a bout of gastroenteritis and he had the same pain, but he also had N/V which I have not had. I did have chills, which are relieved by vitamin C (several grams per day). The hospital I work in has had a very slow moving gastroenteritis going through patients and staff. I thought I had that already and it was just gut pain and was relieved with much yogurt. This virus seems to have a long incubation period. It's nothing like Norwalk.
Avatar n tn I had her tested 3 weeks after the transfusion and the test was negative. Then she woke up one day with Gastroenteritis which lasted about 2-3 days and was gone. I got her tested again January 8th which is 4 months post transfusion, the test was negative. Now beginning Monday of this week (last 3 mights) she’s' been having night sweats. Waking up in the middle of the night with full body sweat, clothes drenched. Everywhere I read night sweats is a direct sign of HIV infection.
Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hello, Diarrhea and vomitings can be provoked either by an intestinal infection or by illness somewhere else in the body. When they begin suddenly, the problem is usually gastroenteritis (or stomach flu), most often caused by a virus and sometimes by bacteria and parasites. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.
Avatar m tn As I said your symptoms are not STD related.
1872406 tn?1320890391 We rescued a little kitten approx 6 weeks old who has been diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis. The prognosis by the vet is poor and I'm wondering if there is anything else we can do other than keep her hydrated and treat/prevent secondary infections. Please help- really appreciate any advice or past experience that you may have... Thanks in advance...

535089 tn?1400673519 Hi to all. I was recently Hospitalized with Gastroenteritis/Colitis and was wondering if anyone could give me some options for a good food regiment (liquid diet) that would help calm the intestines. I have had a recent infection including Colitis, Gastroenteritis (sp). I would also like to know what the best OTC antacid might be to calm the tummy. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
