Avatar n tn Hello, Diarrhea and vomitings can be provoked either by an intestinal infection or by illness somewhere else in the body. When they begin suddenly, the problem is usually gastroenteritis (or stomach flu), most often caused by a virus and sometimes by bacteria and parasites. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.

Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn Hi, Common causes for dizziness with nausea include high blood pressure, vertigo, food poisoning, smoking, depression or anxiety, gastroenteritis etc. Certain drugs like antibiotics, birth control pills etc can cause these symptoms. You should get a check of your pressures with 3 consecutive readings for further conclusion on this. It could even be due to low blood sugars. Hope this helps. Best.
Avatar f tn and if its been 12 months if i ask my GP to put me on a course of antibiotics, will that get rid of the infection this long after? and how will i no if it has if i dont have symptoms or stis? i would really like any advice if you think i should take any next steps?!
Avatar n tn This is likely to be a viral gastroenteritis which should subside on its own in 5-10 days. You may continue with the commercially available oral rehydration solution to compensate for the fluid lost. If at any time you feel dizzy or see blood in stools or the symptoms do not seem better in a week; consider an evaluation by a primary care physician. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hello, Without examination it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but some of the possibilities for your symptoms are gastroenteritis and dehydration. Drink plenty of water as dehydration can lead to electrolyte imbalance which in turn can lead to low BP and hence dizziness. Hypoglycemia, anemia, infections, endocrine disorders like thyroid, adrenal glands, and pituitary gland disorders can also lead to dizziness and nausea. What about your last menstrual periods.
Avatar f tn Short-term bad breath may be associated with tonsillitis, gastroenteritis, acid reflux, diabetic ketoacidosis, or sinus infection. Chronic halitosis may be caused by poor oral hygiene, gingivitis (gum disease),oropharyngeal infections or a dental abscess. These antibiotics are useful only if bad breath is caused due to infections. If the cause is other diseases then antibiotics are not useful. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?
Avatar f tn I believe that my granddaughter is experiencing gerd/acid reflux but the Dr doesn’t seem concerned?. She’s now 4 1/2 years old. She’s just getting over gastroenteritis w high fevers and has had sever nausea w a few visits to th Er. It’s been about 11 days now. She also was diagnosed w an ear infection ahd at night when I give her the antibiotic she throws it back up. Now take in mind that she’s got a nasty viral virus on top ahd her nausea went from over the roof to mild.
Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Said I was dehydrated anyway. ER ran labs and CT scan and said it was gastroenteritis. I also had a catheter and bladder infection while in hospital for stent and told ER doc that I still felt a little irritation but no discharge. He said my urine was clear and the irritation could be yeast since I was on a high amount of antibiotics. He did a pelvic and said it looked fine. After being on anti-nausea drip and fluids, I was released from ER.

1872406 tn?1320890391 We rescued a little kitten approx 6 weeks old who has been diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis. The prognosis by the vet is poor and I'm wondering if there is anything else we can do other than keep her hydrated and treat/prevent secondary infections. Please help- really appreciate any advice or past experience that you may have... Thanks in advance...

535089 tn?1400673519 Hi to all. I was recently Hospitalized with Gastroenteritis/Colitis and was wondering if anyone could give me some options for a good food regiment (liquid diet) that would help calm the intestines. I have had a recent infection including Colitis, Gastroenteritis (sp). I would also like to know what the best OTC antacid might be to calm the tummy. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
569711 tn?1216876935 Hi, The stomach pain could be due gastritis, gastroenteritis, and viral infection of the stomach. It could also be food poisoning which can cause stomach pain and vomiting. You may have sprained your neck during sleep. I would suggest you to continue with the heat and ice therapy and take a mild OTC painkiller. For your stomach issues please consult a physician as you need to undergo a physical exam.
