I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV.
She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?

For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer. You can still pass the virus through your stool for 2 weeks or so and it can survive on surfaces for a long time too. Just take it easy, eat bland foods and rest a lot.
Onset is quick--- surgery on Wednesday, ill by Friday, in ER by Saturday, diagnosed with sepsis and operated on, dead Monday. Hi all. I have been going thru so much physically and emotional past few months,more than normal. The last 2-3 months I have had more pain and totally lack of interest in everything. I did have sepsis and was in hospital 7days. I've been out 3 weeks still no motivation. I'm on effexor as another pain med. My 84 year old mother was diagnosed with diverticulosis years ago, along with her severe weakness and diarrhea which comes and goes, 6 days ago she began vomiting and so weak she got up last night and fell on the kitchen floor, she says she is okay just a little muscle pain from the fall. It seems in England most are happy to leave them, but Im not convinced this is a good thing. She got Urinary Sepsis about two wks ago and ended up in hospital, and her speech at the same time because very weak and a bit slurred, and her swallowing problems which she had from when she was first diagnosed got worse and she is now having to breathe in after speaking, which she never had before. I had a baby girl ,my first, on Nov 21. I was in labour for over 24 hours and was eventually sectioned. The baby couldnt cry, they had to suck out liquor from her mouth. The doctor said my placenta had multiple infarcts, the liquor was brownish and the meconium was stale. they too the baby to the ICU but i eventually lost her on Nov 23. The Doctor said the cause of death was overwhelming sepsis and my water must have broken for sometime and the baby has been exposed.

"Sepsis" or infection of the newborn infant is caused by bacterial invasion of the amniotic fluid prior to birth. This can occur because the membranes that surround the baby are not totally protective, or can occur after the membranes are ruptured. Also, the longer the membranes are ruptured before the baby is born, the higher the risk of infection.
The infection is most often caused by normal bacterial that are present in the mother's birth canal.
Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
I have other chronic conditions such as back and neck pain, basal cell carcinoma, and mental illness. My question stems from when I had sepsis 2 years ago, I almost died from the infection. Is it possible for sepsis to cause lung damage? I also have just recently had bronchitus again and that took about five weeks to get over. I can barely go around the block without being out of breath. I am on combivent and flovent, 4 times and 2 times per day respectively. I also have an emergency inhaler.
