Common Questions and Answers about Gastroenteritis and nausea and vomiting

gastroenteritis

Avatar f tn Your persisting symptoms of pain, nausea and vomiting could indicate a viral gastroenteritis. The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. In the meantime take oral fluids and OTC acetaminophen for the pain. Regards.
Avatar m tn t really a common ARS symptom (though fever and muscle aches are). The vomiting and abnormal bowel movements seem more in line with gastroenteritis to me, but I'm not sure about the fever, muscle aches, and chills. I did eat a caesar salad about twenty-four hours before the onset of the illness, so I guess it could conceivably be salmonella poisoning. Do you agree that gastroenteritis is more likely than ARS? Thanks for your input.

After being told by you no worries because everything is tested thoroughly now but if I was still worried to talk to her Dr. I spoke with her Dr. about my concerns. Avatar f tn Spinal tap last Wednesday and that night, again severe headache, nausea, and vomiting. We were admitted to the hospital and given IV decadron, depakote, compazine, toradol, and Benadryl. She started to feel a little better, but we decided with the neurologist to do a cranial nerve block. After our discharge, we have continued with nausea, vomiting all weekend. We did increase her topamax to 50 mg and this is a side effect of this drug. We are truly at a loss and feel helpless.
Avatar f tn Since I gave birth to my first child 4 1/2 months ago via c-section I have had epsiodes of vomiting and diarrhea.Several years ago I had the same problem but everything went aways once my gallbladder was removed. I have recorded what I am eating to see if it is a food allergy but only thing i have found in the past week is butter makes me sick but not other dairy products.

1128163 tn?1273183419 Water will not replenish what your son is losing thru the vomiting and watery BM's. You need to give him orange juice and/or gatorade which wil replenish his electrolytes. But if he isn't keeping anything down and has the bad BM's this will not benefit him! Every virus is different, some are 24 hrs, some 48hrs, others a week, it all depends on what he has. He has to be getting dehydrated by now, so I would insist that they give him something for this.
Avatar f tn I had nausea, vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and could not hold anything down that I ate or drank. That all lasted about 2 days. However, the nausea has not went away. I am constantly suffering from nausea, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I can drink anything I want just fine and hold it down. I cannot however hold down food. After I eat within 30 minutes I am running to the bathroom and throwing up.
Avatar n tn They told me to stop taking the antibiotics because they suspected viral gastroenteritis, and told me to have actimel and probiotics. A few days later I was no longer vomiting, but diarrhea continued for another 2 weeks and I developed a blinding pain in my left side around my rib cage, I assume torn and pulled muscles from vomiting so much. I returned to work on September 9th. I wasn't 100% and I was very exhausted still.
